Additions to the Jail System: the Convicted POV & the Families

ADDITION TO THE JAIL SYSTEM: THE CONVICTED PoV & The Family

GENERAL

  • Crimes shouldn’t always be punished. Let the zois that commit a crime or an offense have the opportunity to run away, and get away from the police.

  • Zois that witness a crime or a criminal running away from the police could have the interaction to snitch to the police available.

  • There could be a mini game where the zoi who is suspected to be guilty of a crime can be interrogated. Succesfully winning the mini game would avoid jailtime for the zoi.

  • For certain offenses like car accidents and traffic violations that don’t result in the death of a zoi, vandalism and petty theft, there could be fines and home arrest as punishment instead of jail. If these offenses are repeated by the same zoi, then they would be sent to jail.

  • Zois can hire a lawyer to defend themselves and try to avoid jail or prison. When you choose to hire a lawyer you are given a choice between three lawyers:
:psycat_paw: Free lawyer: 40% percent probability of avoiding jail.
:psycat_paw: Average cost lawyer: 60% percent probability of avoiding jail.
:psycat_paw: Very costly lawyer: 85% percent probability of avoiding jail.

  • When you are arrested, let us hear a police syren in the background while the loading screen is loading.

  • Interaction to “ask to give false alibi” to very close friends, lovers, and family members with high good relationship bars.

GOING TO JAIL: THREE OPTIONS

Not all crimes are born equal, and so I think they should be punished differently. What I propose is a system where criminals and offenders are sent to differents places: juvenile detention, jail or the penitenciary.

  • Juvenile detention: works exactly like the jail we have now, but it’s only for teenagers and they have a few hours a day reserved for in-jail lessons to continue their studies.

  • Jail: for minors, petty crimes like shoplifting, pickpocketing or public disturbances (fights on the street, vandalizing public property).

  • Prison/Penitenciary: for more serious crimes like driving over people and killing them, robbing from a house and attacking people in their houses while you are trying to rob them, or belonging to a crime organisation.

OPTION ONE: JAIL

Works and looks exactly like the one we have know, but with some added improvements:

  • Bail system: when a zoi is sent to jail, they can pay a bail or call somebody they know to ask for bailing them out.
  • Families are notified of a family member being in jail, and they have moodlets and conversations related to the event. They can be sad, nervous, angry depending on their personality and relationship with the jailed zoi.
  • Jailed zois cannot use the smartphone, please! Smatphone option would be greyed out for zois, and all the options related to the smartphone unavailable.
  • Alternatively, they have ONE call allowed per day. The can use a landline phone at jail to call one zoi a day among their acquaintances.
  • Zois outside of prison/jail could plan and execute the jailbreak just as it is now to rescue the jailed zoi. That is, they could be able to work on the crack on the wall from the outside to help the inmate.

OPTION 2: PRISON/PENITENTIARY

  • Prison would be a big instanced building with lots of cells, a dinning area, a leisure area and a patio. Maybe also a workshop area where prisoners can do a manual job for small money while in prison.
  • There would be a strict schedule for when your zoi can be in and out of their cells, for when they eat, shower, or have leisure time.
  • Imprisonment periods are from 5 days to two weeks, depending on the severity of the crime.
  • Just like in jail, prisoners cannot use their smartphones, but they have the right to call one zoi a day. They can call anyone from their acquaintances list.
  • Imprisoned zois can have two visits per week, lasting one hour, on set days of the week (Wednesday and Friday for example).
  • Imprisoned zois can bribe the guards or gain their favour through friendship or flirting to get perks like extra call, extra visits, access to the smartphone for an hour, or stuff like pizza, coffee, and other useful items.
  • Family members of the imprisoned zois are notified and have moodlets and conversations related to it. Their reactions and how their relationship is affected would depend on their personalities.
  • Prison break: Bring able to work together with cellmates to break out of prison. For this you should build rapport with other cellmates or you can also make them fear your or respect you as a criminal to make them do your bidding.
  • Zois outside of prison/jail could plan and execute the jailbreak just as it is now to rescue the jailed zoi. That is, they could be able to work on the crack on the wall from the outside to help the inmate.

OPTION 3: JUVENILE SYSTEM**

Works exactly like the jail we have now, but it’s only for teenagers and they have a few hours a day reserved for in-jail lessons to continue their studies. I propose the same additions that I proposed for jail.

AFTER JAIL/PRISON SENTENCES ARE OVER

  • Once the memory systyem that is coming is implemented, this would be an important memory recorded both in the zois moemories and their acquaintances. The moodlet associated with this memory would depend on the personality of each zoi.

  • Criminal records: for repeated offenders, we could implement a criminal record that would affect their job opportunities, reputation and relationships.

  • The opportunity for a zoi to have the pick up of another zoi that is being released from jail scheduled, be it a family member, friend or lover. This event would be triggered when the imprisoned or jailed zoi is released and the other zoi can go pick them up.

Looks like some of these additions are already on the works as said by Kjun (home arrest, court, trials). Let’s hope for more additions on the future!

I like the prison suggestions - especially bribing the guards and prison escapes. I think there should also be the opportunity to sneak in contraband and snitch on fellow prisoners, and maybe a pen pal system.

All this are great suggestions! I’d like to add something, though: let the incarceration of the criminal Zoi affect his family in some way. My Zoi went to jail, he was only there for a few hours, but he spent the night there. I imagined that his wife would be very worried, so I constantly check on the household to see how she was doing. Well, she hadn’t even noticed at all. The next day, when my zoi was released from prison and returned home, she was there, she had continued with her life as if nothing had happened. That kind of disappointed me. So yes, I think it’s an excellent suggestion that someone from the family should pick up the Zoi on the day he is released from prison, but I would also like to see an emotional impact on the wife, children, parents, the family in general or even friends as they learn that their loved one has been sent to prison. I don’t know, the spouse might even be angry or disappointed, they might start an argument or even ask for a divorce; or support them if they already know what they do for a living. That would add a lot of realism to the prison system and the entire criminal career itself, and would make a great piece of drama for us storytellers. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I absolutely agree! I had the teenager of my family go to prison because I saw an abandoned purse and got curious (didn’t even know crime was a thing back then haha) but everyone kept going on with their lives, not even a “worried” moodlet. Her favourite older brother is a lawyer, on top of that, and I wished there had been an option for him to help her in any way!

That’s exactly what I’m talking about! In your case, it’s a teenager so the family should be more concerned and have some reaction, especially if one of them is no less than a lawyer. I the devs are reading us and decide to add this kind of detail because that would make the game much more immersive and interesting.
