Occlusion*. But that doesn’t really affect when an object is spawned. Spawn is its programmed appearance, it isn’t tied to rendering. An example of spawning is when you take an item from your inventory into your hand “out of thin air,” or a plate, and so on.
I’m not sure if you have ever seen second life? Mostly, there are many many “canvas town” style areas linked together. You can pass from one to the next without a loading screen. It makes a very large open world for walking, flying (yes in planes etc) and in boats and yachts. Check out Second life on Youtube. It is No Inzoi but Inzoi is NO second life but I am very excited for INZOI’s potential and once it becomes multiplayer I will spending most of my time in INZOI and in the Canvas Towns I build and adapt.
I wished it could be like that, but unfortunately it doesn’t look like it’s the plan. Kjun already mentioned small loading screens between canvastowns, for example.
Multiplayer is going to be a blast for sure! I am excited about that, I just hope Canvastowns can be reviewed and made better, what you say of Second Life sounds great.
Maybe it’ll be like when you get on and off a bus? At the moment I’m like you with a wait and see attitude. My hope is that in the future we’ll be able to drive, fly and sail in INZOI but I am bursting waiting for multiplayer. That will be a game changer as far as I’m concerned ( No pun intended ) LOL. I think that would be amazing. Anyway, another pet peeve of mine is the limited dances and times. Perhaps they could be looked at as well. I also remind myself that Second Life is over 20 years old so I think to be fair we need to give Krafton more time to develop.
Just stumbled over a post on reddit where OP asked for our plans and ideas for Canvastown, which made me wonder who will actually build and decorate 40 lots?
I’d say builders are a minority in inZOI, so most players will place downloaded lots there and that could end up in an incohesive vibe(?)
Thinking it over, I came to the conclusion that I wouldn’t, even though a customizable world is something I really wished for.
Over the years/decades I’ve built hundreds of houses in the Sims and also worked in a team where we created a whole world in Sims 3 (with far less than 40 lots) so that’s quite the task.
And while a Sims 3 world still looks good unfinished and is playable even with only one finished lot, canvastown would look weird. I wouldn’t want to play there if there’s only a few houses and the rest a concrete hell.
So I’d have to make a separate save and go back there to just build, which is boring for me and an ordeal without end. Building in inZOI is still such a hassle for me and in my almost 800 hours, I’ve only managed to build ~ 10 houses. It would take me forever to build/decorate 40.
And given there’d be more than one canvas town setting, I’d end up with several unfinished towns I’d never play.
My wish would be a canvas world, where I could decide the setting/vibe and where the lots and streets are.
After reading more posts about Canvastown, where many (from low‑spec players to inZOI Partners) don’t let cautious players speak up and, on the contrary, without having any info, claim that there are no problems for anyone, I came to the conclusion that I cannot give a definitive answer. I don’t want to dramatize, but this was a fiasco in providing a clear response, which turned into a mess with personal attacks and pressure. I do not accept such an approach.
If the devs want to start, they can instead of pre-baking building shells directly into the maps of existing cities, first divide the entire city into lots. Then, on these lots, they can place the same buildings and objects – only now the player can completely demolish them and occupy these lots independently.
Problems with this approach would arise, for example, if the developers decide to add buildings, but the game could either suggest placing them manually or replace the user’s lot with a default one containing that building if the player agrees.
Dowon = 100+ lots, Bliss Bay – more. If you want, delete the shell and build.
But in Canvastown there might not be any 64x64+ lots at all for a hospital or a school, or whatever else they add, and then what? There’s no flexibility, you can’t add new lots, so we’ll just keep moving between districts through loading screens in order to get to a school or leave beyond the map?
Because I said this, the disrespectful discord crew attacked me. These questions come to my mind too, but players with low systems think they can manage everything. @GDfromRivendell
kjun only takes into account the comments of “low-end” PC users. This time, low-end users always think that they are right. Heh, anyway, but I really hate DC users.
I dare to assume that they already have a plan and are gathering confirmation that they are moving in the right direction. Krafton itself may be conveying its requirements regarding audience reach, so only strong resistance could delay the decision, as with instancing. So, let’s be honest: they genuinely searched for another solution and have now provided it. There are no questions to their side, when this is internal development, and they have every right to look for solutions. But without specifics, without answering questions, and by catching people on half‑statements – no.
I doubt that two such different approaches as Canvastown and pre‑baked cities will be supported together in the long run.
Exactly, ı m agree with you
I’m wondering something, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to be clear if I have to translate.
Let me start by saying that Inzoi is the first Early Access game I’ve bought.
Steam had a list of the minimum and recommended requirements to play.
Before buying the game, I obviously made sure I had the right requirements. I thought the required specs would be sufficient to run Inzoi, as an open world, with cities like Bliss Bay and Downon the size of cities, even when the game was released.
So, what happened? Did they realize that Inzoi required much more resources?
Or, to boost sales, are they trying to make the game suitable for PCs with lower specs than initially required?
I have a PC that meets the tier 3 requirements, “Recommended”
I tried to tell them the same thing on Discord, and especially @mxmun20 did too, for which some newly arrived (?) user called them arrogant, showed the door, and kept interrupting everyone when nobody asked him to (thus breaking rule‑1, but yet without consequence). The claim was that if one doesn’t trust the adjustments developers introduced during early access, it is better to quietly disengage from the game rather than block low‑end players from getting their portion. And if you’ve got high‑end rigs, you’re the arrogant minority yelling the loudest.
Basically, whenever anyone expressed concern about Canvastown replacing the base towns, low-end members immediately jumped in with the same line: “Isn’t 80 lots enough for you? That’s more than Sims 3 Sunset Valley!” Ultimately, no understanding was reached, we left discouraged, and one participant ended up with a mod ticket.
I’m pretty sure it is to sell more copies and that’s also what Kjun said already two months ago in the AMA Q&A Part 2 on reddit
And I guess it’s because the investors and the publisher might get nervous because of the very low player count and the mixed reviews on steam.
So they probably put a lot of pressure on the team to get out of early access soon and finish the game to sell as many copies as possible.

And that also might be the reason why they develop in more quantity than quality.
inZOI sells better with many features The Sims 4 does not offer. Like cars, court system, lots of ‘open’ worlds, frying pan-in-the-face . . . no matter how shallow and rabbit-holy thay may be.
Most players will only realize this after they’ve bought the game.
In comparison the Sims 4 Player count (is this only the count for players that play the Sims 4 over steam? Without other platforms?)
And the reviews are still very positive ö.ö
I’ve decided to stop talking to the Discord community. Because they’re disrespectful. Most of them have low-spec PCs, and they want to drag Inzoi down with their computers left over from The Sims 4. And there’s also racism involved. I’ve never said anything bad about anyone’s race, country, or language, but some people said things like, “You’re acting arrogant because you’re Turkish,” “I hope the game never gets Turkish language support,” “It’s good that there’s no Turkish language,” or “Turkish language support won’t come because of you.” And I realized that I might never see any of them in my entire life anyway. There’s no point in arguing with disrespectful, brainless people. I don’t even care anymore. I’ve stopped trying. Let them do whatever they want… @GDfromRivendell @LennyOgg
I’m looking forward to the small-scale map and hope that the available spaces can be customized as desired. It would be nice, however, to focus more on the existing maps, offering more freedom regarding small shops that can be entered and more options for designing one’s own shops. The weather should also have a greater impact on the inzoi, especially in Dowon with snowfall, etc. Of course, I’m excited about the new map, but I would have preferred the other three maps to be more open, allowing for greater freedom and customization, with more options for changing the vegetation, the overall look, and so on.
I understand your feelings, especially regarding the fact that rule‑1 is ignored while the member who broke it is actually encouraged, and rule‑4 is enforced to the fullest. Now they even ask members to remove links to this forum, their own threads, since this counts as self‑promotion!
There’s also the factor that Krafton has never worked on life simulation games. We don’t know how many people there, apart from Kjun, are more or less knowledgeable in this genre (the veterans were at Paradox Tektonik and are now at Midsummer Games), and of course we don’t know the specifics of their code, which can significantly affect the implementation of certain aspects that in Sims have been programmed for roughly 30 years.
To stay true to myself, I’ll bring up my old quote: no matter how clunky inZOI may be, its individuality has been perceived by many as a breath of fresh air, and it frustrates a lot of people and myself when it wastes that individuality on imitating Sims, especially TS4. On the other hand, without that widespread imitation it’s unlikely to attract the Sims audience at all, and they wouldn’t even know where to get a new one.
If inZOI had launched at the decline of Sims, the picture would’ve been different. So, I’m waiting for next year, when Sims 4 closes its lineup, Project X will either still be in preparation or already annoying people with its pricing, and the inZOI team would be better off hiring 300–500 people and doing everything properly. We can’t predict how such an attempt will turn out, but you understand, it has to be something substantial so that they don’t stumble at release like with the drop to 87–88k on the early access launch.
UPD: The only thing is that the Project Rene base, which was cut from the current mobile builds, could be taken as the foundation for Project X / Sims 5, and therefore the inZOI devs could implement the same flexibility in build mode and add co-op building.
Did you see news ? The Sims world is in chaos right now. There’s a huge issue, and it all comes from a major leak. According to the leak, “The Sims 4 Remastered” is on the way—after 11 years, The Sims 4 is supposedly being rebuilt with a brand-new game engine. Thanks to this new engine, the game is expected to return to an open-world structure.
It looks like EA/Maxis made this decision because the current expansion packs reportedly no longer work properly with the new engine; they’ve been causing technical problems. The company was sold to Saudi Arabia, which created a massive source of funding—and apparently this money is being used for the engine overhaul.
There are tons of leaks, and some of them come from very reliable sources. If The Sims 4 really shifts to an open-world engine, InzoI could take a major hit, because they’ve spent 11 years building deep knowledge and code infrastructure around the current version of Sims 4. @GDfromRivendell @LennyOgg
