Is anyone else grieving over their dead zois?

Is anyone else struggling with watching their zois dying off? I played with Zayla for ages, I was playing 96-hour days, then suddenly she was old and it changed her completely. It’s Zayla in my profile pic.

She was so vibrant, then out of nowhere she was old and lost her spark. When she died I grieved - can you believe it? The husband was still there to look after the kids.

The other day I was playing, where the teenage son walked across the room, I saw 2 photos on the wall, one taken when the son, Abraham, was a baby, and one a teenager. It nearly brought me to tears.

It got worse as the father, Bradley, kept wanting to spend time with the children because he knew he was nearing his end. The whole thing was heart breaking. Bradley is gone now, his pixels went over the rainbow to be with Zayla’s.

And people say that inZOI has no depth.

Death triggers me so hard (due to rl), my Zois are not allowed to die.
Games are my safe place and I want an escape for a few hours.

In inZOI, I still play characters I’ve already played in Sims 3 and 4,
some of them I know for far over ten years, I could never let them die ö.ö

For example Vlad and Wesley.
Vlad was married with Gytha in Sims 3 but there he already was thinking of Wesley and they had brief relationships in the Sims 4 and inZoi.

Sims 3

Sims 4 and inZOI
(the time before we were able to stop aging, and before we got the immortalZOI cheat, were pure hell for me too ^^’)

That’s why I turned aging off. After the Octobers update I created my sunshine and since Zois got more emotional than ever I really attached to him (usually i create character/families and dumping them quickly. It always was in sims, also in Inzoi before this update). It would be unbearable to me if he got older and died. So he continues living for ages while other Zois dying actively hehe. I love my silly boy!

It’s a relief to know it’s not just me. The day after Zayla died I woke up and remembered that she was gone, it’s really triggering.

When Bradley started saying that he wanted to spend time with the children because he didn’t have long left I got him to take lots of selfies with them. There are now selfies of him and the children all over the house.

I’m sure this isn’t healthy, but it must be worse for people who create people they know irl.

200%! I always turn aging off, I don’t really want to see them go ever. I save frequently, in case something bad happens I can just reload and pretend I did not just bump something on the street and lost two of my fave zois in an accident :psycat_lay:

@LittleBrownBiscuit I completely feel you. It was hearthbreaking to live through this period of my current Zoi family as I posted in the “What happened in your game today” thread (copy below). And now that I am playing with the daughter for quite a while already it is still sometimes sad to see all the photos of her parents in the house.

My Zoi family or what is left of it had a couple of heartbreaking days.

The family started with nearly nothing, the cheapest house in 2008 Oakridge Drive and both worked the entire life to build up some funds to be able to build their dreamhouse on this plot of land.

They were just days away from being able to afford it, even though not completely furnished but livable and expandable. Then the family farther died at 94 (days) of old age and left his wife and teenage daughter mourning and devastated.

His appearance at his own funeral and the possibility to speak again with his wife and daughter made the both even more sad.

He came back home as a ghost and haunted the house just for his wife to die 1 day later with 95.

This left the teenager daughter home alone with 2 ghosts of their both parents for several days. She was nearly not able to do anything while at home as the parents where occupying most of the objects she intended to use all the time. They even wrote a letter to her which was left on the kitchen table written by a parent ghost.

After 3 days both ghosts were finally gone and she was able to live some kind of a normal life again. She earned the last missing money with some paintings and was finally able to afford the family home her parents were saving for their entire life.

And she will keep their memories with her in the new house.

This is already perhaps an “old” topic, but when it was brought up, I was just considering buying Infos, and I was ultimately only playing Sims 4. It struck me because I didn’t think others also got attached to characters. I thought it was abnormal. I have characters in Sims that I’ve been playing since 2019 and they’re based on real people. So somehow, when I can’t forget about someone and our paths just don’t want to cross… :frowning: it’s definitely saved in my library. And these “top characters” always have the “immortal” designation in MCCC config. From a psychology perspective - it definitely rises to the level of a problem (obsession), but in my opinion it’s just one point of view, because if someone paints someone’s portrait and hangs it on their wall, does that automatically mean they have a problem with themselves? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It seems completely normal to get attached to these characters that we play with. They become full people to us, we enjoy their company, and we want them to succeed. When I play with my zois, I’ll have one of them go out and call the other over to join when they finish work. Seeing the second zoi coming makes me smile as I’m looking forward to spending time with them.

This is way more common than I thought, and that makes me glad. I was watching a stream of someone playing inzoi the other day, and they admitted that, when one of their zois died, they didn’t play for over a month. They were too upset.

The feeling was super strong with my first family in InZOI.
The one I played from A-to-Z (From a child until she died of old age at 84).

That was a special game. Since they changed the way the zois age in 0.2.0 I have not been able to take this as seriously anymore. Glad I was able to experience it once !

They’ve said that they’re going to work on ageing, so you might be able to play through that again soon. They need to stop middle-aged being old-aged, and old-aged being next to dead. It makes older zois really hard to play with.
