Autonomy turns itself on autonomously -.-

Even though autonomy is also turned off in the settings.
It often happens after moving Zoi between families.

(old save, no mods, fully updated)

Hi @LennyOgg,
We are sorry for the inconvenience. We attempted to reproduce the issue, but we were unable to observe the same behavior under the same conditions. :psycat_sad:
Could you please check once more whether autonomy may have been re-enabled after skipping the Rabbit Hole schedule? Thank you in advance!

Which schedule could this be?

This is happening to my spouse and I as well, we have the settings Off for autonomy under its options. The autonomy turns back on after ANY sleep and when starting any scheduled tasks.

@LennyOgg do you see any differences to the thread you opened in November Autonomy for individual Zois toggles itself on constantly? It sounds like this time the game turns autonomy on for the whole household, right?

This happens to me as well. I have anatomy disable on the game options. But every time I speed the game anatomy turns back on. I constantly need to turn off anatomy. This have been happening since the game has been out in March. I thought the point of disabling anatomy in setting was so it could stay off when you turn it off in the game.

There is no rabbit hole schedule happening, I still don’t know what schedule this could be(?)

I accidentally documented the following because I took a screenshot of Saiwa’s nightmare

The evening before they went to bed, autonomy is off. It always is.
In the settings and for each Zoi individually.
I don’t use mods, game is fully updated and it’s an old save
(we moved from Dowon to Cahaya and from Cahaya to Bliss Bay)

Next morning, Ji Ho’s autonomy was turned off

A mere moment later - at the same time stamp, all their autonomy was turned off by the game.

After getting up there is also something weird happening, I don’t know if it’s related?
The pop up mentions Zois autonomy and it happens directly after autonomy was turned off and after getting up.

This message only pops up for 3 of my 6 Zois in the household and I have no idea why, since all of their autonomy malfunctions? (They also sleep in different rooms just in case that’s important)
Saiwa (no pop up), Ji Ho and Jack (both pop up message) in one room
Vlad (pop up) and Jeb and Kiyoshi (both no pop up) in the other room.
This is so weird.

So, as a player of The Sims since TS1 released in 2000, and especially of TS3 for the last decade and a half, I kinda got used to a playstyle where my controlled character has NO free will whatosever, ever, while the others frolic around doing their own thing. Including family, roommates, townies, etc. But when I take control of someone, they only do what I tell them to.

Enter InZoi, stage left. It used to obey my setting at launch.

But at some point it started to annoyingly override my choice, like I’m the NPC. Nowadays, even if I have both autonomy options set to OFF, AND turn it off on a character, it will turn it back on whenever anything happens. Everyone going to sleep? Your autonomy gets back on and stays on. Going to work or school? Yep, it goes right back on. Going to an event? Yep, back on it goes.

Overriding a choice I clicked in THREE places to turn off, as if I need the game to tell me what I really want is… mind-boggling and frankly insulting. I’m not an NPC.

And frankly it keeps getting on my nerves each time it happens.

Hi @Moraelin

Since your post covers the same autonomy issue, I’ve merged it into the existing thread so all related information stays together. Thanks! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

It’s ok, I don’t mind issues being merged.

That said I am getting the “amused” moodlet when reading that someone can’t reproduce it. Like, really? REALLY?

It happens every single time with every single Zoi in my game. Just start a game with 1 zoi, and turn autonomy off (possibly also the 2 options for autonomy in the options,) get a job or school, and try to play for an in-game week or so, really. That’s literally all it takes to reproduce it. Click on “Go” to go to work or school? It turns back on. Go to sleep? It turns back on and stays on after you wake up. “Skip” while at work or school? Yeah, it goes back on.

Every. Single. Time. For months. Across every single new game.

So… really? REALLY? Nobody can reproduce it? Heh, :stuck_out_tongue:

And, to be frank, I even get a suspicion of WHY this happens: because auto-chaining actions in those situations FAILS if aútonomy is off. Like, choosing “Go” to go to school will get you there but fail to queue “Go to school” if autonomy is off. You have to click on the school door yourself to queue it. Choose “Go” to go to work with autonomy off? Yeah, your zoi will run to the taxi and then stand around instead of queuing the “Go to work.” You have to click on the taxi yourself and queue it if autonomy is off.

(Which is a different bug report coming soon.)

Which suggests to me the hypothesis that some dev decided to mask a very bad implementation by taking away my agency.

Which, frankly, IF true, is on par with the Three Stooges way of making you forget you got slapped upside the head by poking you in the eyes :stuck_out_tongue:

Sims 3 was the best only if someone would come out with a new version :+1:

And I played every sims game.

Well, IMHO gradually InZoi is kinda turning into the TS3 sequel I always wanted.

Yes they are doing a much better job than EA

OK, here’s a quick and simple case of reproducing it:

It starts as off:

I accelerate time to 8:

No other clicks or interactions involved.

As far as I can tell (or rather guess, really,) the message that there’s a problem with zoi autonomy has to do with failure to chain up a follow-up action, like going to the dresser or stretching (not sure which.) I think it occasionally pops up for me even when autonomy is on, if I wake them up manually by cancelling the sleep. It also happened intermittently when their access to the dresser was blocked.

Hope this helps.

Hi @LennyOgg,
We are sorry for the inconvenience. We have checked your screenshots and we would like to ask for your save file so that we can check on it.

Instruction can be found here: How to Send User Files to The inZOI Team (Updated)
Thanks!

I don’t think checking the screenshots will help much to reproduce this issue that already many other users have experienced.

Have you tried to reproduce it like @Moraelin has suggested?

I mean, I could make a single player household and send it, but it’s not anything specific or what your testers can’t create themselves. The fastest way is really just a case of start new game, pick random preset, de-age it to teen (works for adults too, but this way you skip picking a rabbithole job and you start “work” on monday), pick some cheap existing house: Save it, and it’s literally the only save you need to reproduce it.

Now:

  • hit 8x speed, it turns on. Go back to 1x speed, it stays on.
  • make it through the starting Sunday, go to sleep in the evening, time speeds up, it turns on. Wake up, it stays on.
  • turn it back off, have breakfast, wait until you get the “Go” option to go to work, click “Go”, it turns on and stays on

Incidentally, the last one is also how you can reproduce my “Failure to chain up action” report. Either click “Go” and turn autonomy back off, or teleport there while autonomy is off, and it will fail to chain entering the school.

There you go, a step by step walkthrough, of 3 different ways (out of many,) to reproduce it. Plus, as a bonus, how to reproduce another bug.

If, after all this time and even with this, none of your testers can reproduce it, I have to wonder if they even have a copy of the game :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean, I’m not trying to be an ass (I just am one naturally  ) but… since I’m a nice and helpful ass, I’ll make you an even better offer: DM me, and we can set up a MS Teams meeting, where I’ll share my screen and show you every click and effect. I’m serious. Invite any other people you want.

Autonomy has been turning on every time I increase the speed to one of the highest settings which is why it also automatically turns on when you sleep in the game because it increases the speed aswel.
