Why is it forbidden on inZOI's discord to link to inZOI's official Forum posts?

And why is it on the same level as the other ‘real crimes’?

It was an on-topic post and an answer to another post, imo nothing ‘illegal’

The answer to both your questions is right in the screenshot.

The “Content Violations” section is not just referring to illegal stuff. It’s referring to many types of content that are not allowed at once. Spam is not strictly illegal either, but it is content that is not allowed, so it’s listed there.

Because you were linking to your own post, it was considered advertising for your own content, which is not allowed, no matter what the reason. It’s not just because you linked to Discord, as the message says.

Say you linked to a YouTube video you posted in a relevant conversation. That would also be considered advertising and would be removed.

That comment of the moderator wasn’t about one of my posts.

Link to the post

And I don’t think linking to a post from the official inZOI forum on the official inZOI discord can count as advertising.

Why should this be a problem?

Advertising = Sharing links to content that is your own and telling people to go look at it, for any reason.

As for “why should this be a problem?”, it’s not a literal problem; it’s just not allowed because it breaks the rule for advertising. It makes no exceptions. Sharing your own YouTube content isn’t necessarily a “problem” either, but if it breaks the rules, it breaks the rules.

I think it’s meant to discourage people from hyping their own content up because that can lead to spammy situations or pushy behavior. It’s a common rule on official discord servers. Has nothing to do with specifically not allowing Forum’s posts.

If the mods on discord only were always this dutyful defending the rules

People have lives, and grey area exists for certain things, while not for others, such as this. I’m sure they do their best. Reporting via modmail on Discord is helpful if you need the mods to see something they missed or explain why something was (or wasn’t) considered a violation. I’ve done it plenty of times, and the mods have been kind to communicate thoughtfully every time and grateful for things being brought to their attention.

If you had asked your question to them on Discord via Modmail instead of on the Forums, I’m sure they would have explained it to you. But that’s assuming that you didn’t.

The Forum guidelines are clearer about advertising.
I don’t think linking to a forum post that’s also about inZOI is falling under advertising and I’d really like a comment about this from official side, since I guess these rules are made by the Community Management for all platforms alike.
What we post here is not self promoting ‘own content’ imo.

i agree with all the threads i’ve seen on not only this topic, but others. there should be a thread to discuss all patches, there should be another for the current fix/bug list. and both should be usable by anyone to participate and leave comments. those comments should be part of the full discussion as part of any update, patch, new feature, kjnun post, anything!
