As the title says, on high settings, Inzoi uses 11gb of regular ram to even get to start screen to choose new save, load. I note about 7-8gb vram usage a well. This seems bonkers for being at a menu. I haven’t chosen a map or save yet, yet its already using way, way beyond most games at this point. But I’m also being told its impossible to continue with Inzoi’s open world and it needs to be segmented, instanced, due to performance issues that can’t be ironed out.
I don’t understand how both be true. What in the world is a game doing taking 11gb/4gb vram+ of ram just to show the main menu?
I would personally guess as its an animated scene with psycat in engine. Tho idk personally thats just my interpretation as they have to simulate the random movement of psycat and little objects like candles in the scene.
i already do that (used to have a mod too beforwe it was an option). no difference. loading into cahaya is certainly a difference - about 20gb ram usage and 8gb vram. there is no doubt that the game is heavy. but when i see the main menu using more resources than the last gen consoles had total, and i hear about how things are inefficient. i’m like why aren’t they looking at this.
if this were sims 3/4 (maybe 2), when you load your game and get to the main menu, your mods and things are already read. so those can impact performance depending how big they are and such. inzoi, even with the most exquisite cat doing animations and being interactive, should be no bigger than an old flash game, like 2gb. only when you load a map should the memory balloon. even just going into the zoi studio wouldn’t use this much memory, not even close.
i’d certainly like to see what someone with a really low end, amd maybe, machine shows for vram and ram usage just at the start screen. i have a good comp that exceeds the recommended by a bit, but then the talk of low performance is killing me thinking about. how can i think about cahaya being an example for why they need to instance stuff, when i know even my own pc is bogged down at the -menu- when nothing is loaded.
if you have a low end pc: please note the ram and vram usage while just loading the game. then load the game as you would normally, and report it. i’ll note that for me @ 1440p the game starts up around 11gb ram, but goes up to 20gb when a map is loaded. the vram spike is like 4 to 8-9gb. vram seems to be the least of the issues as long as you have enough
