I bought my PC almost a year ago SPECIFICALLY to play your game and run it well. Today, after not playing in months I launched it and InZoi was using 93% of my PC’s Memory/RAM. What the actual hell. I have the settings as low as I can possibly make them, the game is windowed, and in a smaller resolution. My PC is not low-end, it was 1500$. SO WHY IS INZOI EATING UP 93% OF MY COMPUTER’S MEMORY?! PLEASE FIX YOUR GAME OR TELL ME WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS!
Hello. Please remember to be constructive when reporting your issues to the Forums.
There are many reasons why this may be happening on your system. I can help if you would like to run through some troubleshooting, but please be respectful.
Starting with the basics, for all that applies:
Update your OS
Update your Graphics Card in the NVIDIA app
Verify Inzoi’s Game Files on steam
Make sure your PC is running on its Dedicated Graphics and not Integrated Graphics
Make sure you’re not running any programs in the background while playing
Make sure your RAM is not damaged or loose by checking the amount of “usable” RAM.
I see you said you have no mods, but didn’t specify whether that is “removed” or “never used mods,” so just in case it’s the former, if you have used mods and disabled them, make sure to completely remove them from the mods folder. Disabling them is often not enough to keep them from affecting your game.
Please don’t forget that InZoi is an early access game, bound to have bugs and other issues and, most importantly, that both the devs and the staff are real people with real lives, who deserve respect as much as any other human beign.
With this being said, I think the problem steams from the fact that you do not meet the minimum specs required to run this game, and it is lucky that your PC is only using that 93% instead of shutting down. @LazyTaco has also provided very useful and insightful info that might help you in the future.
[Your RAM is 4GB bellow the minimun required, which has a big impact in GPU performance and is probably the cause of your issue. You can upgrade your RAM without upgrading the rest of your PC, if it is of any help].
Oh, sorry about that, I mistook your Graphics Card GB with your RAM in the specs place.
If it’s non of the issues pointed out by LazyTaco, it could simply be epic web helper (in simple terms, what allows you to use Canvas inside of the game) that is known to take up a lot of GPU usage.
Anyhow, the devs have confirmed they are working on optimization, so hopefully it will be fixed soon!
To LazyTaco: I don’t really know how to check these things, but all my drivers are updated. I know because Geeksquad (a computer repair Business that words at the place I bought my PC) updated then all when I had an issue a few days ago. Also no, I’ve never had any mods at all. I didn’t even know that was a thing until last night when I launched the game after months of not playing. (I wanted to wait until more stuff was added.)
To itsmechiie7: It’s okay. I just got really scared for a second. I really hope the devs fix this… my PC can usually run huge games like Hogwarts Legacy and Baldur’s Gate 3 fine at about 60% RAM, and these are ginormous, finished games so I’m very very concerned. I hope these optimization fixes come soon. I don’t think I can lower the quality any further…
Open Nvidia App > Drivers, then check if all is up-to-date using the circle-arrow button. If any updates are available, install them (Express Installation).
It’s not at 93% anymore but this is still bad. Also I just found out InZoi never closed after I turned off the game last night and it was running in the background in my PC while it was in sleep mode for hours. I’m terrified at what this could’ve done to my PC. What if it damaged it? I’m scared I want to cry
Looking at your screenshots, you are using your Dedicated Graphics (GPU 0) and your usable RAM is 31.7 GB, which is both great. It’s exactly at the value one would expect from healthy 32GB RAM sticks.
Kind in mind that the “81%” on Memory is NOT Inzoi’s RAM usage. In the photo, Inzoi is only using ~16 GB of your RAM, which means the game is most likely using 50-60%, which is completely normal for this type of game and a good value. No RAM issues here.
Typically, the longer you run games (for hours and hours), the worse the game will start to perform and the more RAM it may use up, until you restart the game, because of build up, but other than that, you’re good.
Please do not be worried, scared, or cry, and ignore that upvote on your reply… Your computer was not damaged. Your RAM is just fine. I’ve left my game running on accident so many times, and my PC is completely okay. Gaming PCs are built to be durable like this. You wouldn’t want to leave your games on every single time, of course, but it’s done no harm.
What I did also notice though is that you have a lot of background apps running at the same time, which is what is eating up a lot of your RAM while you’re playing the game. That’s why it says 81% total is being used, and that would definitely affect performance.
Good news: It’s not your PC’s fault Bad news: It’s the game’s own memory management and poor resource optimization. Lowering graphics won’t help much
but you can try this:
Before launching, delete these cache folders: C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\BlueClient\Saved webcache_4430 C:\Users\xxx\Documents\inZOI\GalleryPost
And once in-game, make it a habit to quit and restart every hour to manually free up memory.
Your screenshot of the Task Manager shows that inZOI is not using 93% of the RAM. And only 16GB, or 50%. Unnecessary background processes must be “Finished/Closed” in the Task Manager. Exactly:
Microsoft OnDrive; Microsoft Edge; Malwarebytes Service (What is it by the way?); Search
Then, in the Task Manager, go to the Autorun tab. And “Disable” all unnecessary items from Autorun, which uses the most RAM, and which you do not use during the game.
If after this steps you encounter discomfort during the game, freezes, I can assume the probability of 2 problems.
Is inZOI installed on SSD or HDD? It is better to install such a heavy game on an SSD.
Make sure you have a swap file. 32 GB of RAM is enough for a gaming PC. But the swap file is still needed.
On my PC inZOI uses 14-16 GB of RAM in the lobby. 20-22 GB of RAM is used in the game itself in the open world. This is normal for such a game. And everything works without problems, freezes. Nothing brings discomfort.
I also recommend installing «MSI Afterburner» to monitor the performance of all PC components
