In my current rotational play I am testing different potential money making skills with Zois who are dedicated to a certain skill. While some skills like programming, instruments etc. will take forever to reach level 10 others are quicker to level like critical thinking. As I noted everything down for future reference I thought I share as it might be usefull for some of you who are considering to invest in this skill.
For reference: my Zoi had the genius trait and I was paying with 96 minutes day.
Guide to critical thinking skill & progression
Level 0
- Zoi will need ca. 20 minutes writing a book to reach level 1
- You can write Essay and Romance Novel which can be sold for 15 - 375 Mew depending on quality
General Info starting from Level 1 until Level 10
- to level up via writing books your Zoi will always need to write 8-9 books. Time needed for this varies depending on your Zois level as the time needed to write one book decreases as you level up (see details below).
- to level up via reading books your Zoi will always need to read 16 critical thinking books which always takes 4 hours (15 min per book) at each level starting from Level 1.
Level 1
- Zoi needs 2,5 hours to write a book and to level up only by writing books would take approximately 20 in game hours.
- Especially in the early levels reading books is a much faster way to level the skill as it takes only 4 hours to level up to the next level with this method.
Level 2
- Same time to write a book as Level 1 (2,5 hours)
- Fantasy Novel and Science Fiction Novel become available and can be sold for 15 - 375 Mew depending on quality
Level 3
- Time to write a book is decreased to 1.55 h, so nearly 2 hours thus to level up only by writing books would now take approximately 16 in game hours.
Level 4
- Same time to write a book as Level 3 (1.55 h)
- History Novel and Adventure Novel become available and can be sold for 20 - 500 Mew depending on quality
Level 5
- Same time to write a book as Level 3 & 4 (1.55 h)
Level 6
- Time to write a book is decreased to 1.15 h thus to level up only by writing books would now take approximately 10 in game hours.
- Mystery Novel and Horror Novel become available and can be sold for 25 - 625 Mew depending on quality
Level 7
- Same time to write a book as Level 6 (1.15 h)
Level 8
- Same time to write a book as Level 6 & 7 (1.15 h)
- Autobiography becomes available and can be sold for 30 - 750 Mew depending on quality
Level 9
- Time to write a book is decreased to 38 minutes thus to level up only by writing books would now take slightly more then 5 in game hours.
Level 10
- Same time to write a book as Level 9 (38 minutes)
- Self-Help Book becomes available and can be sold for 30 - 750 Mew depending on quality
- Option at the PC becomes available “Submit Scenario to Contest” where up to 1000 Mew can be earned if successful
Money making with writing books is rather slow. Especially in the early levels you will not earn more than 50 Mew per book. Starting from level 4/5 the Zoi is rather able to write a good book even though not consistently. In my test I was jumping from bad quality and 20/25 Mew to good or sometimes outstanding at a maximum of 115 Mew. On the higher levels they manage to write an outstanding book more often which sells for 225 Mew. Even with level 10 critical thinking skill a perfect book which would sell for the maximum amount does not happen very often. But as it takes only 38 minutes to write a book at this stage you can have quite a good income with 225 Mew for an outstanding book which happens more frequently at this stage.
