[12.12.25] Memory/Timeline, photo album, calendar, and other storytelling features

It is unfortunate that functions so essential to life simulation and its early development stages are being displaced to rather additional, minor, and cross‑genre functions, even though the Timeline was partially showcased in the pre‑early access build and Memory System was scheduled for March 2026 according to the first roadmap. And also the delay Calendar, which was announced much later, not even as part of the first roadmap.

…and a memory system to express relationship depth and evolution. We’ve received so many memory-related requests that we’re actively planning it now — maybe even inspired by The Sims 2!

(wasn’t it scheduled for Dec 2025?)

And most often this goes into Other (right? shouldn’t it be core?)

Other Systems / Features

We also received requests for more varied NPC behaviors, seasons/weather/events, Korean cultural elements, holidays and family gatherings, photo albums, memory systems, and other storytelling/immersion-enhancing features.

We wanted to include holidays and a calendar system in December, but they were delayed due to schedule issues. TT

Timeline / reel (lost Time Machine)

I’d like to recall how compelling inZOI appeared in the pre‑EA release builds (jenkins-BLUE-PACKAGE-MAIN-3804 (62170). While it is indeed a Time Machine, technical complexity shouldn’t have been a barrier to such an impressive reel in its more refined implementation. After all, people worked on it, invested resources, and then everything was cut and replaced.

…stacks of key moments, divided along a timeline:

  • Present

Photo album

This timeline could’ve become the basis for an in-game photo album, “with the ability to add a few lines of text. It’s very important for those who play families with multiple generations to be able to track family history without having to leave the game.” /quote Discord

Dear devs, please specify in the upcoming roadmap the dates for implementing these functions (Memory/Timeline/Album/Calendar) in the build.

I recommend you should write the same thing on Discord. I don’t think Kjun reads these posts, so it’s best to repeat these requests on Discord as well…

Oh, well that’s already on Friday, if I feel like it. While I’m collecting feedback for this Team, I think they wouldn’t mind also looking through what forum members are writing, right? You are all free to repost this however and whenever you like.

Of course, I’ve noticed that they’ve embraced Discord more.

Let’s not upset the Team. They’ve been delegated to collect feedback, that’s their job, and we can support them with enthusiasm and efficiency. Maybe they were also concerned that the forum had been pushed into the background.

Yesterday I wrote on Discord requesting (I’ve already done it several times) the photo album in Storytelling style.

I absolutely agree with you, together with the Calendar and the Timeline for me it’s one of the essentials for a life simulation game.

Strollers, slaps in the face :slightly_smiling_face: , holiday decorations are all nice things, but they’re extras that can wait. Even clothes, which I love so much, take a backseat for me compared to this.

If you’re Yvelise2466, then I clipped your post with a quote – so thanks) I hope the Team will process our requests regarding these core features, especially the photo album, which most games include as part of photo mode (you can’t really release an action game without it in 2020s), while the main life simulator still doesn’t have it.

Yes, it’s me.

Thank you for all the interesting and well-developed proposals you make.

Anytime  I’d like to believe that since the team got involved, we can rely on the forum to convey our thoughts more structurally, clearly, and safely. But this also requires understanding that the team appreciates it and can pass it on just as clearly.

I think we can wrap this up atm. A very good result, and thanks to everyone who supported. @mialuce66 , my congratulations!
