Hello!!

First time posting in here and hoping yall can help-

When I first downloaded the game the in-game mods from the curse forge mod menu worked beautifully however I learned the hard lesson of one-drive after almost losing my sims saves so since then my bf and I remove one-drive entirely from my computer which meant starting over for inzoi and I was totally okay with that if it meant I could go from inzoi to sims and vice versa.

However now, since removing one-drive entirely and linking curse forge to my steam, it seems that the in-game mods will not work at all; I am not sure of the true cause as removing one-drive and linking curse forge seem more like correlations however i noticed as well when installing mods from inside the game they seem to be installing in my windows(C:), creating a whole new inzoi folder that only has mods, OUTSIDE of the steam/inzoi game folders that exist already which really left me at a total loss.

By what I could find we have done and tried everything; from the simply moving the mods to the correct folder, to checking all the mods for beEnable true (they all were), to the ~mods folder trick and lastly we completely removed ALL inzoi game files and uninstalled the game then reinstalled, twice and the mods from the in-game mod menu still are not working and are still installing outside of the game folders in the windows (C:) directly- so I am at a loss and feeling defeated because it’s turning me off from playing inzoi entirely now which I was so excited for the update and inzoi was the main purpose my bf got the pc to begin with :sob::broken_heart:

Tysm, i appreciate any and all help!

did you check your inzoi path in steam? Perhaps its pointing to the wrong location. I don’t know where the path are stored but you could also try completely uninstalling the game and cleaning up all files (after backing up the ones you want to keep) and then reinstalling and see if that helps.

So we had found the paths however that’s where we realized there was a dilemma- even after finding the paths, removing and cleaning up the files and reinstalling the game twice, the mods still are not working as it still is downloading directly to windows (c:) instead of the direct game folders and there seems to be no accessible way to change it that I could find so far. it’s the weirdest thing ever because I can’t find why or where it’s creating a new path from when it should in theory download directly into the game folders as it did originally as stated in the post-especially after clearing all files, twice uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Tysm for your response!

oh that’s strange. Does it at least create the 88849 folder under windows (c:)?

Google AI says this (take it with a grain of salt but its something to try) :

How to Revert Your Default Save Locations

You need to manually change the location properties for your user folders (Documents, Desktop, etc.) back to their original paths.

  1. Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\<YourName> (replace <YourName> with your actual username).

  2. Right-click on the folder (e.g., Documents) that is causing issues and select Properties.

  3. Go to the Location tab.

  4. If the path still includes “OneDrive” (e.g., C:\Users\<YourName>\OneDrive\Documents), click the Restore Default button.

  5. Click Apply and then OK. You may be prompted to move existing files; confirm this action.

  6. Repeat this process for any other affected folders, such as Desktop, Pictures, Music, or Videos.

  7. Restart your computer for the changes to take full effect.

After these steps, your game mods and saves should correctly use the standard C: drive user folders. If you wish to save them to a different drive (e.g., D: drive), you can use the same “Location” tab in the folder properties and select a new location on that drive instead of clicking “Restore Default”.

Troubleshooting

  • “Access Denied” error: If you encounter an error when trying to restore the default location, you might need to temporarily reinstall OneDrive, unlink your account in its settings (under the Account tab, select Unlink this PC), and then attempt the folder location changes again.

  • Mod Manager Settings: Check your specific game mod manager’s settings (like Vortex or Nexus Mod Manager) to ensure its “Mod Staging Folder” or “Downloads Folder” locations are correctly pointed to the newly corrected Documents folder or another desired location on your D: drive.

Advanced Fix (Registry Editor)
If the “Restore Default” button is greyed out or does not work, you may need to edit the Windows Registry (proceed with caution, as incorrect edits can cause system problems):

  1. Press the Windows key + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  2. Navigate to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders.
  3. Look for entries in the Name column (like Personal for Documents, or Saved Games) and check their Data column. If any still contain OneDrive, right-click the entry, select Modify, and delete the OneDrive\ part from the path string.
  4. The value should point to %USERPROFILE%\Documents or %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games, etc..
  5. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

After correcting the folder locations, your games and mod managers should correctly save files to their intended locations.
