Fix the OneDrive/Curseforge problem by allowing mods folder to be relocated PLEASE

  • Game Version: Latest as of 26/10/2026

  • Platform: (Steam windows)

  • Mods: Over 600 mods so I’m not listing them tbh

  • Hardware Specifications & Operating System:
    Windows 11 Pro, 16GB RAM, 3080Ti, Ryzen 5800x3D

  • **Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Have onedrive enabled
    2. Try updating existing mods when prompted on main menu or via curseforge’s menu page
    3. Errors on main menu updater saying “update failed” and on Curseforge’s dedicated page, it just perpetually gets stuck on “installing”.**

This is an issue I’ve noticed a number of people have with this game. Weirdly enough, I’ve never had this issue with Onedrive and any other game. Does the blame lie with OneDrive, or does it lie with how inZOI seems to interact with the OS when updating or replacing files because it seems to be unique to inZOI and I’m not disabling my cloud backups for one game, sorry.

I implore the developers to try and look into this issue. If they can’t resolve it and feel responsibility does sit with OneDrive, please add an option to manually move and relocate the mod folder (and even save folder) to any external location of our desire as the Documents folder is affected by OneDrive backups.

In the end, I uninstalled One Drive, since I only use the Lenovo for gaming and I do serious stuff on my Mac.
Managing mods with One Drive was a nightmare.
But as an inexperienced Windows user, I got help from ChatGPT.
I understand that not everyone can or wants to do that, so I’m backing you up.

For my situation, my PC is used for everything and I don’t want to give up my backup option through OneDrive. I’ll admit it is horrible software though.

Hopefully the devs do give us an option to relocate our mods folder tho. Mods can accululate so much storage data so having it even on another drive would be good.

I solved the backup problem with an external hard drive and the free EaseUS program that does them automatically for me, in case anyone is interested.
