[1.2.26] feedback + suggestions

Thank you so much for the wonderful update as always! It was definitely an insighful read, though i was expecting more info about AI NPCs. Guess i’ll have to wait a little longer :rofl:

With that out of the way… first of all, i want to talk about the modding tool. I think it’s headed in a good direction, but if i could have a small suggestion? Would it be possible to streamline the process of creeating custom events? Aka, like the existing event when a zoi has a crush on you and they invite you to the park to talk about it event? Cause that tool would be absolutely wonderful for storytellers and im sure there are so many people who are itching to utilize it, make their own unique stories and share it with others so they can play with it too!

As for canvastown, it’s definitily one of my most anticipated features! Would it be possible to also basically be able to use it as extnesions to the main cities? So a bit like disctricts in the sims 2. So “neighborhoods” so to speak. All it would really require is the map appearances and creative players on canvas should be able to handle the rest :+1:

Now… with canvastown coming, and especially once you can load between multiple canvas towns, i do see one one issue: imagine youre a zoi kid who grew up in canvastown and in your adult years you moved to another city. What happens to all the zois in the previous city? Do they just get frozen in time until eventually you get too old and potentioally even outgrow your parents? Doesnt see too realistic… which is why i propose simulating characters currently not on screen. Of course, to reduce computantional load, limit it to zois only your immidiate family knows and their household. Players in general wouoldn’t care if a random zoi (or an NPC they only met once) in another city stays the same and would be none the wiser, but we would like for our zoi families and besties living abroad to also live out their life… and potentially even scehdule visits to our homes and call once in a while to check in. It would definitily add to immersion! Bonus points if you could allow players to costumize the degree of story progression per household. Like, do we want zois to have kids? Get merried? Get promoted? Make friends? Ect.

And finally for multiplayer: i hope you’ll take it in one of two ways, so two options. The first would be a private server where you can play with friends and play co op (imagine collaborating with friends and building out a whole canvas town together. Now that’d be awesome!). The second option would be a true MMO. Like, imagine you load into a server with your friends and enjoy hanging out and spending the day together (or just load in by yourself and go about your day) and all the zois in the background are actually real players also going about their day. The possibilities are endless!

Now, onto the more general suggestions. First of all… would it PLEASE be possible to make backpacks and umrellas recolorable? :pleading_face::folded_hands:

Like, i want to give my zoi kids hello kitty backpacks and spiderman backpacks or watch my zoi hold a pink umbrella. Would definitely make each zois MUCH more unique!.. maybe even the ability to recolor the utensils our zois use? Like, what if i made an all pink zoi living in an all pink house but i also want them eating from an all pink plate with a pink fork? I would appreciate it if you could take this under consideration.

And while we’re on the topic… you know how we can choose mayerials for our furniture? Could we possibly get a similar system for clothes in CAZ? Sometimes i want my zoi to wear jean shorts instead of flanel. Would allow for greater costumization. And materials in genral please as well as the ability to mod them in!!! Maybe add a way to mod in more materials with the modkit? :eyes:

And while on the topic… a greater degree of control when it comes to material colors. Some materials come in more than one color (like the stripes), but so far we can only change one of the colors and not the other… it’d be awesome if you eventually allowed us to change both for a greater degree of costumization. Maybe even a saparate tool to create your very own materials? So kinda like the create a pattern tool in the sims 3.

And lastly… preteens. I love that it’s there, but they can be a little… jarring at times.

Exhibit ‘A’:

The faces are definitely good, but we do need them shorter. And also less developed bodies. As well as the voices… anyways, making them look something like between a child and a teen would be awesome. Here’s a “preteen” i created in CAZ using a teenager in CAZ as an example:

Though, i wish we could adjust the shoulder width… but hopefully it’s coming with the CAZ body improvememts :folded_hands:

And while we’re on the topic… i know you said no height sliders cause it’s hard to develop (and I understand)… but would height presets be possible? Aka instead of a full on height slider, give us the ability to choose between a short preset, medium preset (so current height) and tall preset? It would be the best of both worlds: let players costimize height to a degree, but also be a lot less work than a full on heigh slider to make animations appear smoother).

I would very much appreciate it if you could take my ideas under consideration since i know a LOT of players will agree with my requests :folded_hands:

I agree we need the Adolescent (pre-teens) to be a scaled-down version of the teenager, dead-smack in the middle height between teenager and child. Scaling down the teenager also has slightly more muscles for the boys and some smaller breasts for the girls, which would fit really well.

That one is the most jarring and needs to happen.
I’d also advocate for a new preschooler size between toddler and child, again middle height scaled-down from kid, but the adolescent should have more priority.

I love your idea of canvastowns being extensions to the main cities. As rotational player the main cities get really crowded too fast and I’d enjoy the option to “outsource” families however I’d like while still being able to switch between all of them. Any kind of multi-world build gets my approval at this point :grinning_face:

Honestly, i’d be fine waiting until after full release for a proper lifestage between toddlers and kids, but since pre-teens are in the game, they do need to be fleshed out a little

Oh, and one more suggestion to add to this: please let us delete and add windows/doors in apartments! We really want to build our dream apartements and cant do so with the limitation. Particularly the penthouse lot. It’s a bit silly we can add extra floors but not edit the 1st floor doors, windows and outside walls.

And while on the topic… would it be possible to give pools above ground the glass wall preset? That way we can build true infinity pools. Please consider this :folded_hands:
