(All the info we currently have about Canvas Towns below)
So, already in June 2026 we’ll get our first Canvas Town and I don’t know how I feel about it.
I’ve been in a team where we’ve created a whole world from scratch in the Sims 3 where we had all the freedom and it was one of my biggest wishes to create something similar in The Sims 4 (which never happened).
So I should be super excited, right?
But when I look at these empty blocks, I feel intimidated ^^’
40 lots! I’ve hardly built ten lots so far over all these months (in almost 1.000 hours), since building in inZOI is still such a hassle for me. So how long will it take me to build 40? ö.Ö’
Or the minimum amount that’s necessary so that the town does feel enough like a town and I’d feel confident to move my Zois there?
I have ADHD and there’s no way for me to keep myself invested enough to fight through this ![]()
An empty save where I just log in to build.
And downloading lots from Canvas is no option for me either.
I think I’ll probably wait until October for the rural town where empty lots don’t stick out that much.
So:
What is your plan for the Canvas Towns?
- I will tackle this and built all/the majority of these 40/50 lots myself
- I’ll download whole Canvas Towns from Canvas
- I’ll download houses from Canvas and place them on the empty lots
- I’m not interested in Canvas Towns
- A mix between the first three options
What do we know about Canvas Towns?
Found the following information here:
Kjun’s post on Discord mid November (there is also the video from which I have the screenshots from):
:
: Advantages of “Canvastown”
-
Keeps the open-world structure intact while allowing new buildings and shops to be added.
-
Even with around 40 plots, optimization remains excellent.
-
Shorter distances between lots make it easy to notice neighbors and nearby shops naturally.
-
Players can decorate the entire town and share it through Canvas.
-
The compact layout means less travel stress and no delays like waiting at traffic lights.
-
Because Zois appear frequently in a small space, the town feels more alive and dynamic.
-
Multiple small towns could be connected with short loading times in the future.
:
: Limitations of “Canvastown”
-
Its current size is about 1/8 of Dowon, so it’s relatively small.
-
Since it’s built only with the building system, natural visual expression has its limits.
-
There’s limited space for vehicle content.
And here is the Canvas Town schedule from the Roadmap Part 2 (that can be found → here in Kjun’s post from December 2025)
Schedule
March 2026
Implement integration so Fate Engine and Canvastown operate together.
May 2026

Add update and download features to the Canvastown canvas.
June 2026
Release Canvastown #1, a small village with about 40 lots.

This Canvas Town from the video with all the ‘box houses’ looks like the Devs have been intimidated too ^^’
