Collectible items make the house dirty.

Hello. I created a display room for my collectible items in my house, but the game considers these items as trash and I constantly receive the dirty house notification, which is very annoying. In the city map menu, the family’s cleanliness indicator also stays low because of these items. If I remove them, the family goes back to having a clean house indicator. I would like you to resolve this issue, just as you resolved the problem of sims throwing items in the trash with the “display” option. I think just displaying them didn’t solve it, ideally you should stop considering them as trash once and for all.

Yeah, it’s been like that since launch, albeit back then we only had fossilised stuff and whatnot to put on a table. All that’s changed in the meantime is that ´now family members with autonomy on will throw your rare collectible in the thrash.

Oh! That might also be the reason why these items get thrown away by the Zois.

So they are somehow labeled as ‘thrash’.

I really hope this gets properly fixed now that we know what the core of these issues is.

Yep, that was my guess too.

Also that it means putting them behind a glass wall isn’t solving the problem completely. Technically you still have garbage in your house, as far as the game is concerned.

As another possible idea to the devs, I don’t know if they are thrash from the start, or have an expiration date, like how fish or food go bad in your bag or on a shelf. Might also be something worth looking into.

Zois throw things away too easily. For example: a Zoi takes out ingredients to cook, interrupts the action for some reason (e.g. crying child), puts them on the table. A family member arrives and throws them away  .

But they’re not so quick to throw away diapers or bottles.

Also the flowers, Wesley was just about to chose which one to buy (since there is no preview he just bought all of them) when the Flower Boy already started to throw them away -.-

Ah. Didn’t know about the flowers. If they have an expiration date, have I been giving people dead flowers, like a wannabe Morticia Addams? O.o

That’s very interesting and explains why Zois constantly throw away things that aren’t meant for the trash can. A small teddy bear on a table or on a shelf within reach is also regularly thrown into the trash by the Zois. After Cahaya came into play, I put certain collectibles behind glass for safekeeping, as can be seen in the older screenshot from months ago.

Maybe this is also cause of some of the issues users had in this thread

I thought the problem was only with low-quality items, so I replaced all of them with items considered Good, Excellent, or Perfect, but the zois still kept throwing perfect items in the trash, and only stopped doing that after the “display” option, made available in the last update. However, the house is still considered dirty. At the beginning, when there were few items, it wasn’t a problem, but now that I have the complete collection, the house is being considered with the highest level of “dirty”. A constant notification of dirty house appears, and the zoi with the “cleaning maniac” personality is constantly irritated.

Yeah, as far as I can tell they all count as thrash, and they always did.

Hi @glauadris,
To help us understand the issue better, could you please share save files?
Instruction can be found here: How to Send User Files to The inZOI Team (Updated)
Thanks!

Hi @Taibak,
To help us investigate this further, could you please let us know if you used the Display interaction?
Your confirmation would be greatly appreciated.

Just to add, in case it helps, I just tried the same with harvestables. I filled the house with crystal carrots, crystal pumpkins, crystal tomatoes, rare star pumpkins, etc. You can see the house cleanliness meter go down as each is placed, just like with other collectibles, until now it’s stuck at negative cleanliness. EXCEPT:

  • there is no “Display” interaction for these, and
  • they don’t seem to be automatically thrown away

So basically they’re just like they’ve been since launch.

ALSO, now I know it’s not an issue of getting expired, since they’re freshly harvested. Nope, they count as thrash from the start. So basically I disproved my own hypothesis there.

As far as I can remember, I placed the objects with a click. This was quite a while ago, and I still had an older screenshot. I had installed a glass door with a lock and only allowed access for one Zoi.

I can now remember that when I switched to build mode or photo mode, the items were no longer displayed in the game, but they were visible for a while in photo mode or build mode!

But the next day they were gone. Even the watering can that I had placed on the floor behind the glass front was gone the next day.

Edit: Typo

Interesting, I hadn’t tested it with crops yet. I tested it with metals and precious stones, snorkeling objects (corals, shells and statues) and giftable objects (cat doll, mini car…). Metals and snorkeling objects have the “display” option so the Zois don’t throw them in the trash, but they still make the house dirty. Giftable objects don’t have the “display” option, so in addition to making the house dirty, the Zois also throw them in the trash. Could it be that any object that can’t be bought in buy/build mode is being considered as trash?

Hi @glauadris,
Thank you for sharing the save file with us. However, we are unable to access it due to permission restrictions.
Could you please update the sharing settings to “Anyone with the link” so we can review it? Thank you!

Now that you mention it, yeah, it does seem like the difference is whether it’s from build mode or not.

I did some more testing: some items bought and placed through build mode also count as thrash, have a “Display” interaction, and can get thrown out unless set as “Display”. The trivial example to reproduce it is small teddy bears. You can make your house as dirty as you wish by just placing two dozen small teddy bears all over the house. Purely through build mode. None of them were ever in my bag, and the “Place” interaction was never used for any of them.

So yeah, I guess it’s just that some items are somehow marked as garbage, in some way or another.
