Wheelchairs - A mod will not satisfy this. Don’t do what people tried to do in The Sims and mod a wheelchair object with bicycle animations. And not just manual wheelchairs, it would be so great if I could use a manual wheelchair, but I simply can’t. People are going to be like, “I don’t want disabilities in my game.” That’s fair. But I say, you don’t have to use a wheelchair in the game if you don’t want to but myself and a bunch of other people I know want to be represented. I’m tired of having to imagine what I’d look like standing up. If you want help or references for wheelchairs, please reach out to me. Don’t forget wheelchair ramps! Having just bought the game last night, I am sure I will come up with other things, but representation is my number one request. Will it be hard? Yes. Can it be done? Yes, should it be done? Absolutely. Let’s do this…together! I get we’re in Early Access, and Fundamentals First. I promise, I do. But we should be addressing representation elements while it’s early and while it’s difficult, because it is, but doing it the right way now, will make representation easier down the line.
Yes wheelchairs would be awesome, I’m hoping we can have disability options for zois.
I posted these in Wishlish hoping that either one would get in the game.
Wheelchairs, crutches, and leg braces would be nice ![]()
Yea the wheelchair in Sims mods was too radical, I ended up just putting in on my lot and never using it, I did use the stationary wheelchair in my living room next to the couch, but there was no way to have a sim to use a wheelchair from getting out of bed and living daily life and staying in the wheelchair all of the time.
I’m pretty sure it’s not about people not wanting disabilities in the game. The main problem with adding wheelchairs is that it would require a new set of animations for basically every action. Then there’s the all the collision issues, as they take up more floor space. Look at the problems the devs are currently having with adding baby buggies (strollers) and imagine that multiplied by every action and interaction in the game.
A possible start would be to add wheelchairs as a chair item and also as a vehicle option, so that Zois can at least use them to travel longer distances. In the meantime they could add things like crutches and leg braces as accessories in CAZ, and maybe some simple prosthetics that wouldn’t need new animations.
I hear you, but you don’t know how many times I was temporarily banned and goaded for expressing my views about disabilities in the other game.
I love that we have cars, but if we have cars in Early Access, we can have enough animations to make wheelchairs happen. If we do it now, then a lot of other inclusive things will seem easier, like crutches, prosthetic limbs, and hearing aids. Especially feet braces. I want feet braces in the game very badly, at the very least because I’ve had four pairs AFO’s of I use to walk in. In real life, you can get patterns and designs on your AFO’s1, and it would be amazing l if we could make designs for them in the game. I’m already thinking about how many custom textures I would add to them. You are only allowed to get AFOs every five years here, so I don’t know what my next pair will be.
My past AFO’s have included: Butterflies, Blue raindrops, Palm trees and My current pair is planets, stars and constellations. I’m waiting for the day they let us get a different pattern on each leg because I’m very indecisive.
In real life, you can get patterns in both manual and power wheelchairs (my chair is a shade a little bit above lavendar without going all the way to the color of an eggplant.) and prosthetic limbs. I also forgot walkers; we need walkers as well. Mine is black, but my friend’s is hot pink. Hearing aids can even be different colors. One ear can be one color and the other ear can be another. Some kids do this so they can remember which one goes in which ear. I think that would be amazingly awesome!
I hope the team considers all of this, and I would be happy to make myself available for consultation about what power chairs look like nowadays. They aren’t just scooter-type situations anymore.
Not that I’m asking for completely accurate ones, but today’s chairs are really great. Mine stands up, and you can drive while standing, which is the coolest thing about it. It kind of makes it better than a car; unless the car is a Transformer, it’s not standing up while driving.
Again, you don’t have to agree or believe me; it’s just the way I look at it. The sooner we ask for it, the better. The sooner we do it, the better.
Your post just reminded me to take a picture of my space braces to show the team what they can look like. Not all of them look the same. It depends on what your feet are like. You get casted individually for them, especially if one leg is really out of whack (like mine). It’s okay, I like it that way.
I can’t wear shoes, so I have little skid-proof pads on the bottom. Although I don’t walk every day, walking is super fun and good for your mood. It’s kind of like other people going to the gym. Thanks for wanting AFO’s and other cool stuff.
Hey, give my AFO’s posts a like if you want them in game, apparently not enough people are interested in disabilities, but like you I’ve always want these irl games to include disabilities, you have my support ![]()
