If the devs could add ONLY ONE feature to inZOI tomorrow… what would you choose?

Hi everyone :waving_hand:

I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I’m really curious what the community thinks.

Imagine the developers announced one massive update tomorrow, but they could only add ONE major feature to the game. Which one would you choose?

Here are some possibilities I see people talking about a lot:

  1. Fully open world cities
No loading screens, huge neighborhoods, and a city that actually feels alive.
  2. Much deeper AI personalities
Zois that remember things, build complex relationships, hold grudges, develop habits, etc.
  3. Multiplayer neighborhoods
Friends living in the same city and interacting together.
  4. More meaningful careers
Careers where you actually play through work tasks and choices.
  5. Long-term life progression
More complex aging, family legacy systems, and generational gameplay.
  6. Better storytelling tools
More control over scenes, drama, and narrative events.
  7. Something completely different

Personally, I think the feature that could make the biggest difference is more realistic gameplay. I love the visuals in inZOI, and I feel like the gameplay could match that “realism” even more. Things like deeper personalities and CaZ tweaking, more believable/less scripted daily or work routines, meaningful relationships and decisions that actually affect your Zoi’s life long-term would make the simulation side of the game feel much more alive. Bettering Build Mode/CaZ would be my second choice for sure.

You can only choose ONE feature.

If the devs added that single feature tomorrow, what would it be and why? I’d love to hear everyone’s ideas!:backhand_index_pointing_down:

First of all, I would choose 2, deeper personalities. That’s what I’m missing the most right now.

Second, I would like the ability to travel and move between cities while being able to manage different families in the same save.

More meaningful careers, please!

I would love Much Deeper Personalities too.

That’s a great question. Thanks for sharing it here

I like most of the options, but if I have to choose one, it’d be long-term life progression. As legacy and rotational player families are the core of my gaming style. My second choice would be much deeper AI personalities, because those can really add a lot of depth to my playstyle too.

Age Sliders… AKA : Control over the age group lengths

Face it everyone has their own preferences. At the moment we had pre-0.2.0 (closer to real life) and post-0.2.0 with the huge teenager and young adult stages, at the expense of the later ones (adult, mid-aged, senior)… And the 100days old limit (unless you manually edit some files after saving your mod, as @Nyami found out recently).

Now I was fine before they messed-it up (well, for me anyways) in 0.2.0 and started this crusade of mine to have that fixed/give us control.

But the more I talk with fellow players, the more I think we need those, BADLY.

From the given list, my choice is ‘Long-term life progression’.

However, at this point I would like the Devs to stabilize the base game, fix some very basic game-play systems such as the needs system, autonomy, hopefully the smartzoi system, the karma thing, ‘community awareness’ of the Zois instead of being selfish as they are now so that all actions tasks goals ambitions become beyond self and have a larger purpose, and other such things. First get a basic good game going.

After that I would like the Devs to read these wishlists and prioritize those wishes that would enhance the game-play.

I agree. One big reason we chose this game is its lean toward realism — and I’d love to see even more of it, imperfections and all. It would be a dream playground for any writer or storyteller.

As for your question, I’d pick Much deeper AI personalities… with hope that Fully open world cities will release the day after tomorrow :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Deeper personalities would definitely make the world feel more alive. I’m excited about the upcoming memory system because zois having memories that affect their behaviour can deepen personalities a lot.

Managing multiple families across different cities is really a must, my hopes is that they are working on that in the mid to long run (fingers crossed). Do you imagine something like rotational gameplay where you switch between households and the households from the other city stay on hold, or more like each city running and progressing at the same time?

Yes! More fleshed out careers please. I wished jobs felt like actual gameplay instead of something happening in the background. What do you think could make them more meaningful? I think making tasks actually matter instead of being just repetition, and maybe some reputation system where your actions as an empoyee make you more elegible to promotion or more prone to being fired.

Right now there’s something similar but it’s more like “check all these boxes and you get the promotion”. I find it less dynamic.

Thank for participating! We get rarely asked here about this stuff, and Discord is not that popular, or not available in many countries.

I don’t play generations, so I wouldn’t know what would make for good long-term life progression in that sense. Something like inherited traits or family reputations, maybe? I feel like this idea they were considering about family environment shaping the personality of the zoi growing up would be a good addition.

Keep up the crusade! Insisting worked to bring the old UI back and it also worked to have Kjun at least acknowledge that there’s a huge bug issue and promise to work on it.

I currently don’t age my zois at all, honestly, I just like strolling around for relaxation. What is the issue with life stages after 0.2.0 exactly? Do you have a post about that?

I am so on board with you. There are so many core issues in the game that are not working properly, or are not fully developed and that should come first. I’d like to trust Kjun’s latest word on relocating resources from creating new content to fixing and perfecting existing content, but we will see!

Ah, fully open world cities it’s a dream! But one can be hopeful  . Deeper AI personalities seems to be the most popular choice, I also think it’s the best foundation for a life sim. What do you think the zois are lacking in terms of personality as they currently are?

For legacy and rotational gameplay, long-term life progression should add more family interactions. This starts with the long overdue hug between a child Zoi and their parent / grandparent. Another great addition would be events occuring shortly after a baby’s birth, like grandparents coming over to meet the little one or maybe taking care of them, so the sleep-deprived parents can rest. Also I’d love to see some kind of parent-child interactions with, e.g. the slide, playing basketball / soccer, etc.
I’m not very good when it comes to having huge ideas for future implementation, but a lot of great suggestions are already in the wishlist category. Everything that deepens the bond between family members would be highly appreciated on my side

A picture is worth a 1000 words (See Below).

In Short :

  • a generation went from 22days to 42days.
  • Newborn + Toddler stages last too long, and so does Teenager
  • The stages after Young Adult are compressed too much and you can hardly enjoy them.

.
.
Long version :
You can hardly have the grand-parent meet and play with grandkids (playing with grandkids would mean that they would at least need to be a child, which you need to be 10 days old with the new ladder. By that time, assuming you have your daughter at day 42, and she also has her first kid at 42, you have almost no chance as Elders die at 95 (sometimes they stretch a day or 2, but is super rare).

Also, toddler taking 6 days is too long (3-4 would be long enough imho), and Teenager taking 15 days? wtf !?
Young adult lasting 30 days is pretty fun, not gonna lie about that, but other than that it’s all messed-up.

Working with a Young Adult of 30 days, devs should’ve done something like this :
Newborn(1-2), Toddler(3-5), Child(6-12), Adolescent(13-19), Teenager(20-26), Young Adult(27-54), Adult(55-68), Mid-Aged(69-82) and Elder(83+ with SLIGHT progressive chance do die that only ramps up at 95+)
This would have been much better, a generation would have been 29 days, and you still have at least 2 weeks (14 days) of Adult, Middle-Aged and maybe even Elder, while still enjoying a full week (7 days) of each Child, Adolescent and Teenager.

But with Age Sliders / Age Group Controls, everyone can create their own worlds with their preferred life stages length.
I believe it was changed to the new values as ppl were complaining about their Zois getting wrinkles early in their life or something. This was before cheats to lock aging as well, if I remember right.
So their solution to fix the wrinkles was to give player a super long Teenager+Young adult phase. And if you liked the way the game was before (I -LOVED - it !!) then you were just out of luck, sucks to be you.

So yeah it was/became a huge issue.
Nowadays a lot of players play with aging OFF I think anyways… Such a shame.

Script modding is what I am the most desperate for.

Thank you for the picture and detailed explanation. But looking at the life stages post 0.20 update I also agree that toddler and child stages feel surprisingly long compared to the rest. Has Kjun acknowledged this or said anything about this issue? You should post in Brainstroming with Kjun section if you haven’t already. I believe in most cases the more customization the better!

I also think playing with the age off is good when you have aging up cheats. That way your zois can enjoy each lifestage to the fullest until you decide it’s time to move on.

Seems like it’s delayed again until December, and with the new engine I’m not sure if there will be more delays. Do you have a particular script mod in mind that you want to create?

It is long overdue indeed! I think most times it is these small additions that make the difference.

I would like all cities to progress together, to be a single world where families can go on vacation, move, visit friends and relatives in other cities.

The things on your list are anyway all things I would like in the game (except for multiplayer which I don’t think I’ll ever use).
