[07.10.26] The inZOI Team’s Top Development Priorities (Updated)

:psycat_cahaya: Hello everyone, and happy Friday!:psycat_cahaya:

Today, I would like to share a summary of the issues that we believe the development team should prioritize, based on the feedback you have shared with us so far. While we may not be able to resolve everything immediately, we wanted to explain which areas we currently consider most important and continue the conversation with all of you.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

We have identified three major areas that require the most improvement:

  1. Improving overall game stability, resolving bugs, and refining the simulation
  2. Creating more natural connections between the family, school, personality, economy, and relationship systems
  3. Adding greater depth to newborn, toddler, and child development, as well as family gameplay

Our first priority is to connect the game’s systems more naturally so that Zois can live and behave in a more lifelike way.

We are currently expanding the systems in the following directions. Please take a look, and continue sharing your thoughts and suggestions with us—they will be extremely helpful to the development team.

  • Academic performance will affect employment opportunities, promotions, business performance, and other aspects of a Zoi’s life.
  • Poor family relationships may negatively affect a Zoi’s grades at school or lead to major workplace decisions, such as resigning from a job.
  • A Zoi’s traits will be reflected in the frequency of their actions and daily routines, such as exercising or reading.
  • Workplace performance, business results, and financial circumstances will vary depending on how well a Zoi’s career, abilities, and personality align.
  • Traits and experiences developed during early childhood will continue to influence a Zoi throughout adolescence and adulthood.
  • Experiences involving food or accidents during childhood may remain as preferences, aversions, or phobias later in life.
  • Significant emotions and events will be recorded in greater detail through a Zoi’s memories and life history, helping players understand the reasons behind their behavior.
  • Important moments will be viewable through the News Feed UI, and players will be able to take and save their own photos of those moments.

By connecting these systems more naturally, we hope to portray each Zoi’s life in greater depth, shaped by their unique experiences, personality, and relationships.

Game Stability and Bug Fixes

We addressed many issues this week as well. We sincerely appreciate everyone who continues to support inZOI despite the areas where the game still falls short. Your support motivates us to keep working toward a better experience.:sob:

We are currently addressing the following issues as part of our ongoing build stabilization efforts:

  • A crash that may occur when loading a save file during gameplay
  • An infinite loading issue when switching between family members in a six-person household
  • A crash that may occur during death by old age
  • An issue where a child Zoi may suddenly be marked as having graduated from high school after aging up
  • An issue where a Zoi’s enrolled high school may change during the save and load process
  • An issue where room detection may fail depending on the direction in which walls are built, causing floors to be deleted
  • An issue where parts of existing walls may disappear after moving connected rooms
  • An issue where a Zoi’s hunger need may not be satisfied even while they are at home
  • An issue where a graduation ceremony may be unable to continue because the teacher does not appear etc.

It was a pleasure to hear your many thoughts and suggestions again this week. We carefully review all the feedback you send us, and it continues to serve as an important guide as we work to make inZOI better.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
Thank you.

Hello, everyone.

Starting this Wednesday, we’d like to reach out to you in a slightly different way than before. We want to share more details about the things we’re currently working on individually, and to talk through some of the questions we’ve been wrestling with together with you. The reason we haven’t communicated this way until now was our concern that we might cause you worry during a period when important directions were shifting. But we’ve come to feel it would be better to strengthen our communication with you, so we’ve decided to try a new approach.

There’s quite a lot to cover regarding this update, so today we’ve picked out the parts that were especially difficult for us to handle, along with the parts we think you’ll particularly enjoy, to talk about first.

The first thing we’d like to mention is the ‘Cahaya’ region. We’re planning to improve this previously empty area in the next update. It was originally built around a travel concept, but at the time it overlapped with other schedules, so we ended up wrapping it up in a hurry without being able to devote enough time to it—something we regretted. This time, we want to take our time and fill in, one by one, the parts we couldn’t complete back then.

Beyond the region, several improvements are also being made on the character side. We’re refining the autonomous behavior feature so that characters’ personalities and emotions are reflected more naturally, and we’re working with our team to address the shortcomings we’ve found along the way. We’ve also made changes to how facial expressions are handled. Previously, only a single expression—defined by the main emotion or interaction—was used, but now we’re improving it so that expressions reflect the situation. For example, even if the main emotion is ‘joy,’ a character who feels bored while watching TV will make an expression to match.

When it comes to character movement, we also have some new news. Looking back, in the early days we never expected that ‘inZOI’ would get a jump feature—but we’re now developing exactly that. That said, we’re still deciding whether to make the spacebar the jump key or keep it as the family-switch key as before, so we’d love to hear your thoughts.

As an extension of this effort to expand interactions, we can’t leave out ‘Active Mode,’ which was introduced earlier through a streamer’s video. Given all the interest you’ve shown, we’re putting it together so we can show it to you as soon as possible. That said, given the nature of a life simulation game, we’re still weighing whether it’s appropriate to include the somewhat violent interactions between characters seen in that video.

As you can see, we’re developing and preparing a variety of things this week as well, and we’ll continue to actively incorporate your feedback to make an even better game. Today in Korea is what’s called ‘Chobok’ :chicken: , a day when people eat nourishing food to get through the heat. We hope you’ll take good care of your health and beat the heat too. Please look forward to the next ‘inZOI’ update as well.

Hooray! The various sounds coming of the Zoi that i’ve wanted so much. And car modding is coming soon. ! Thanks Kjun.

Hello Kjun and team. Thanks again for the hard work. While I still mourn the bugged businesses (bakery, coffee shop, flower shop, anything, that offers crafted items), I am glad that you keep making the base of the game more stable.

What has me hyped most from the video are the custom voices and the refined vacation system, so we don’t need to buy a plot, but can still go on vacation.

What I would add is, that Cahaya will not be the only vacation destination (I could not really see in the video if it was only for Cahaya, but it seemed like it, since it has a resort and all). I would love to go on a vacation in Dowon, while living in Bliss Bay and vice versa.

That said, thank you again for the hard work and don’t forget to rest. Have a nice weekend, everyone:four_leaf_clover:

Thank you, Kjun :psycat_paw: I’m really happy to see the new voices as well as the new age groups in Create a Zoi (CAZ). Thank you to you and the entire team. I can’t wait to discover all these new features in the game. :custom_heart:

I really loved everything shown in this video — all the upcoming features are such a great surprise!

What stands out the most is how much you truly listen to player feedback. It really shows, and it makes the game feel alive and evolving in the right direction.

After the high school update (which I was really excited for and ended up loving), this Brainstorm feels incredibly promising.

Free swimming is something I’ve been waiting for for a long time, and I love how inZOI focuses on freedom — being able to move around and create our own stories is what makes the game so special.

I also really love the voice customization — I’ve been waiting for that for so long!

Family trips, public housing, and new locations like the restaurant, properties, and the mall in Cahaya all sound amazing.

Overall, this is one of my favorite Brainstorms so far. It really feels like the team has found the right direction, and the game is building a strong identity.

Thank you for this great surprise — and thank you to the whole team for creating a game that has become my favorite!

Missing in “Adolescent” CAZ . Hopefully will be added later. :innocent:

Yay, I’m very excited to go on vacation and explore a new world with my Zoi! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I think expanding the preference system would be so awesome like adding more drink options (fruit juice, tea, etc), baking, fishing, music genres, and crafting would add a little extra. One of my Zois developed a fear of swimming and she would talk about it excessively and people thought she was a little weird for it :joy: I’m looking forward to seeing more for sure.

Thank you team! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I liked the post. As for correcting errors, everything is simple here: open the error messages and work through each one - you won’t make a mistake.

I was also pleased with the car modding and the opportunity to swim underwater (just do not forget about the oxygen supply) By the way, as an idea for scuba diving and breathing underwater: the ability to hold your breath will depend on the physiological abilities of Zoi + on the skill of sports (for example) just like in reality. With lung development (during sports) they get more volume, which means they hold their breath longer.

As for cars, it would be nice to add a simulation of wheel rubber: not physically (although that would be great), but as decoration (using the Unreal soft tissue system) - a small thing, but pleasant. (because now the wheels are like bricks)

I’ll also suggest right away, before we get a voice change system: give us the opportunity to give men female voices and women male voices. Freedom of choice after all. And also people are different, so let the Zois be different too. It should also be taken into account that people have speech defects from birth (lisp and burr). I wish I had that for Zoi too.

Hi Kjun & team :heart_hands:t4:

The developments from this week’s video look AMAZING; so much to look forward to and I’m love seeing these major requests from the community being implemented. I cannot wait to see and play with the new improved vacation system and having the option to choose from the list of accommodations + which zois to travel along with :palm_tree::partying_face:

I also love the FAMILY PHOTOS, custom voices, auto farming, tweaked relationship filtering, additional undergarment pieces, & the new properties shown coming to Dowon & Cahaya (especially the market) :basket::camera_with_flash:

I haven’t played with the recent active Travel Agency career yet in Cahaya but I think it would be an interesting tie-in with the new vacation system later down the line as I could see those two systems connecting to one another for those who work there :luggage::airplane:

Again, so much to look forward to! The work & dedication that you all continue to put into this game is inspiring fr & we love to see it. Continue being great & also have a great weekend!:goat:

You’ve touched on a great point. I love going on vacation as a weekend getaway with family or friends. But to be able to do that, you have to live in the Caha region… it would be great if we could take vacations in other regions too.

This is fantastic! Thanks Kjun & Team!!

The Vacation sytem would definitately make the cities feel a lot more connected. I do have some ideas but due to my lengthy text, I have made a spearte post for this

The ideas are around - the vacation Sytem & rleationships, vacation/agenda planner, tourists activities, introducting local landmarks & city history, culture/lores, sightseeing + unique city experiences, local festivals & pop-up events, vacation Journal, stay-Over System, staycation, vacation vouchers, earning more vacation days as a work performance reward option, & more

I would like a travel booking system to choose the departure day or now.

I also hope that with our current milestone/memory system, it can show + reflect things like “took a vacation” or “traveled to…/traveled with…” as part of the vacation system update :baggage_claim:

having more memories tie in with our zois lives would be nice so we can see what they’ve done over time, where they went, etc :open_book:

In addition to the custom voices, a change I already adore, I would love the ability to have different heights for a Zoi.

Either a slider (which may be complicated) or 3-4 different default heights.

I am not that knowledgeable about programming, but maybe a male could at least have the height of a default young adult female as smallest setting, while the female could be as tall as a default young adult male.

This way, the animations potentially don’t clash, but as I said, I don’t know much about programming.

Thanks again for the hard work:four_leaf_clover:

We’d all like that, but it heavily impacts the animation… The issue is that it’s not drawn from scratch here, but rather created by capturing the real movements of actors. So to fit different character heights, we’d need to create separate animation sets for each height.

But I’m also hoping this will somehow be resolved, at least for a few standard height variations :+1:

Adolescents” are the same height as young adults this terrible mistake needs to be corrected. :face_with_crossed_out_eyes: The others are optional. Of course that’s just my opinion.

In general, I find the term adolescent kind of difficult to use in this game as an age that is supposed to be younger than a teen. “Adolescent” is just a broader term. It might be where the height issue for an adolescent already starts?
