It’s very strange that not only has this still not been implemented, but no one has even paid attention to it, since greetings and farewells are an integral part of etiquette.
@tatyana-gold @Minthyuyu @Kara I dare say that the developers can’t decide on the style and cultural context in which the farewell will be formulated. In different cultures, it looks different. And it’s quite possible that someone might take offense at how the farewell is phrased. Greetings look almost the same across all cultures, but farewells — they differ.
Yet that hasn’t stopped them from putting American school buses in every city, without really caring about the culture or specifics of different countries. And it’s far from the only example: you find the same dress codes, the same NPCs, and the same meals everywhere, regardless of which city or country.
So far, they haven’t really developed the cultural aspect in the game. So I don’t think a somewhat more generic “goodbye” is really the problem here, nor do I think it could further ruin the cultural aspect, since it’s already very much lacking in the game at the moment.
Yeah, you’re right! I guess I’m just looking for an excuse for the developers’ illogical behavior. Understanding so little about their actions, I’ve probably unconsciously developed “Stockholm syndrome”.![]()
I would love to see this implemented, even more so with different styles of saying goodbye depending on mood, traits and relationship level.
If this is a cultural thing, then you could still implement the saying goodbuy part, and maybe leaving the hugging only for family members or so. This is also awkward by the way: when the family or just the couple is out in the city somewhere and do stuff together and then leave to go to different places from there - normally they would hug or kiss or at least say goodbye .
Don’t worry, I think many of us are looking for explanations for their sometimes mysterious choices! In any case, it’s always nice to discuss it and see things from different angles. ![]()
By the way, I just noticed the culture of behavior on the forum and started thinking about it. After all, we never greet each other when starting a discussion in a thread or replying to comments. And we never say goodbye. We are living people with you, and it’s not so important to us here, but in the game we want correctness… It’s so strange.

@NyushaDm But I think and hope that this would be different if we would meet in person though ![]()
I think there’s a difference between real life and internet culture. That’s how I handle it personally, for example. But in real life, I would never forget to introduce myself or say “hello” and “goodbye.” ![]()
Oh yes, I would definitely smile widely and give a big hug, or shake hands firmly! Even though I’m a girl, I love shaking hands with a stranger or hugging someone I know!

I dare say this is a peculiarity of this forum. Because in other communities I always write greetings. And here I never even thought about this nuance.
So I’m correcting my oversight and GREET everyone I’ve communicated with today!

I agree 100%. And even if we go by cultures, there are enough cultures where no proper goodbye, even just saying the words “goodbye”, is considered very rude.
I personally just want a proper “closure” of a meeting and not just dissolve the group and disappear.
And hello to you @NyushaDm and everyone as well
. I sometimes remember to type at least a “heya” at the start, but it also tends to slip my mind since some comments stay unanswered, which is okay![]()
Oh my gosh, you’re amazing! I’m relieved to see so many people supporting and responding to this, because it’s bound to make it a focus for the next round of improvements.
Hello everybody
Talking about hugging not being implemented because of cultural concerns - I don’t think this is the reason anymore.
Just had another of those “Knocking on Nostalgia’s Door” events and one of the prescripted actions is “Experssing your longing with a Hug” and that’s exactly what the Zois then do. So it is kind of already in the game, just not possible to currently actively select to hug a friend when meeting him / her or saying goodye.
I hope this gets added soon!
