[05.08.26] Expanding on Foundations

As soon as the video was finished, we found out an API error occurred on Discord, but luckily, it didn’t last too long, so I’m uploading it now :grin:

Though the Brainstorm topic for this week is well explained throughout the video, I want to ask again through text to have you all share how you would utilize some of these fundamental features from the video.

I think these are neat core ideas. Especially the ragdoll physics, i think they can go a long way in many ways. Mostly mayhem, but that’s usually the best kinda fun in a game such as this. I do also like the ability to hit others with weapons like a frying pan. That has a lot of potential. Especially in regard to the crime system (which needs an overhaul in a lot of ways but i see the potential). Though i do think it needs the force to depend on the type of weapon used and the current fitness. Otherwise it just becomes Saint’s Row level of wacky.

This feature of hitting others with a weapon does give a lot more options to the crime system though. Like what i had brought up in another post of being able to threaten homeowners and tie them up (though that example would only work with a knife or gun, not a frying pan). This could be used as another way of it but for more stealth. Like in the sense of, lets say, as an idea, security guards in a museum or large bank (down the line hopefully) with a blackjack. Just to give another idea for it’s uses beyond beating a cheating spouse with frying pan.

Also, as a side note, i personally hate the mask that was put in recently. It just looks like a modernized version of those masks the triple k used in Django. Like in the sense of it just being a bag with a hole in it, instead of an actual mask. If it’s just the first of many more to come with like the bags (and hopefully entire outfit category so i don’t have to keep changing my activewear) and police career, i can live with it being there but i still just hate the design. I hope you guys add like spandex ones (with separate versions that have different number of holes) that are more, well, in line what an actual criminal of this century would wear.

Anyway, sorry for the mild rant, just wanted to vent how much i hated that design. Also one other thing, i think if I’m wearing a mask and mugging someone, they shouldn’t even know who i am. That kinda goes for any crime being committed wearing one unless someone recognizes the voice behind it. Just saying, that needs to be another additional improvement to that crime system.

With all that said, i hope you guys keep up the work to turn this rough diamond into a glittering one that puts EA’s overinflated mockery of what was once a great IP to shame and a deserved final rest.

I seriously hope that huge black round menu is optional.
I did not mind the drop down menus we had before, not one bit.

It’s always so cool to see how Inzoi is always developing! I’ve played the round menu in my farming sims, but I’m not a PS5 player, so I can’t really comment.
I’m a generational family type player, so I’m not big on the pranks to electrocute friends, haha. What would be interesting with the spill water feature would be slipping (not falling completely all the time) when it’s a rainy day or when there’s a puddle on the floor, e.g. in the bathroom/by the pool etc. Zois should even be able to drop/spill things when surprised/startled. E.g. Zoi is drinking something and hears a loud beep, then spills the coffee/water they are drinking.

I also am pretty excited about the holding hands when walking. I hope this will be applied to parents and their children as well as teenagers, basically, anyone with a close relationship should be able to hold hands, not just romantic couples. It would be nice to see older Zois holding hands of kids as they cross the street too.
The potential of screening an actual vid for the cinema sounds amazing, but is it also possible to update the tv shows/programmes as well?

As for the car crashing into things and dynamics, right now, my Zoi drives a scooter and cannot auto-drive like the cars can do. Is it possible to update this to get it to be similar to a car? And is it possible to leave the vehicle parked outside where you left it (in parking spot even) rather than have it disappear? With the recall vehicle option still available? I also didn’t see an option to repair my scooter (unless I missed it), and from the way I drive it, repairs are definitely needed.
I’d also like to see depreciation of the vehicles. Although the scooter has taken a beating, I could still sell it for the same price.

OFF TOPIC: Things not mentioned but I’m hoping will be implemented:

The MOST IMPORTANT THING (for me)

Preschool Age. We have posted this in the wishlist, but the jump from Toddler to child to huge. We would love a preschool age please. Also, newborns shouldn’t age up and still be the same size when they are toddlers.

Now things I hope will be addressed

  1. School hours to be editable:
    I’m a teacher and my high school kids end school at 2pm. Is it not possible to allow use the freedom to edit hours?
  2. Zois can get any amount of jobs as long as it fits in their schedule:
    My zoi is a teenager whose parents have died and she is supposed to help look after her baby sister.
    It should be possible for her to get 2 part time jobs (weekend and weekday), but the system won’t allow this.
  3. Teen Zois should be allowed to feed toddlers
    My teen was able to feed the newborn, but now the toddler is starving and constantly needs a baby sitter
  4. Teens should also be allowed to babysit toddlers
    If there is a teen at home, there should be no need for a baby sitter unless called for.
  5. Wipe up bottles and diapers action
    The update changed “clean up” to wipe up. I dunno why Zois are mopping baby bottles and diapers - can we go back to picking them up?
    I’m going to probably get shots fired at me here, especially from players with a large household of kids… but could we possibly get the Zoi to get the bottle from the fridge (my actual desire to to prepare the formula, like how they make coffee, hahahahaha. ahem) and then feed the toddler/newborn instead of it popping out of nowhere.
    I’d also like the option to feed toddlers while the adult Zoi is standing up as well as sitting on a chair.
  6. The Signature Look clothing thing
    Is it possible to assign a look for the day of the week and auto-rotate that?
    E.g. Everyday-Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
    I planned all these outfits expecting the look to appear but I have to manually change it in SYZ.
  7. Auto hairdrying
    Can that be an option and not a given? Like, can we have a 50% chance of hairdrying hair rather than all the time? And (some people may disagree with me) but would it be possible to be able to hairdry the hair only if a hairdryer is purchased and placed on a counter, in bag, hung on the wall, whatever. And speaking of hair. Would we be able to get Zois to brush their hair automatically (hairbrush must be bought too)? So, 40% hairdrying, 40% brushing hair, 20% neaten appearance.

Ring menu

I like that you can set which functions are accessible this way. One thing I’ve noticed when using the controller is that the ring menu is opened if you hold down the triangle button for any length of time, including when using it in combination with other buttons. Sometimes it takes me a while to find the second button. it would be good if the ring menu didn’t open if it’s combined with another button.

Fishing mini game

I know some players love having minimal input and just watching their Zois’ lives unfold so this might need to be an optional feature. Personally, I really like the concept of mini games as it makes me feel more engaged and gives me a greater sense of accomplishment.

Spills

I love that spills have a real physical impact on Zois. I’d love to see clumsy Zois spilling their drinks occasionally when walking.

Breaking computers

I love that you can break the computer with a frying pan. This will be great as a form of revenge if a zoi is fired or if their partner has cheated on them.

Please help me fix the Steam Verification Failed error. It only happens with inZOI — other games work perfectly fine. I’m using Windows 10.

I propose expansion ideas for features ahead of the upcoming update.


Look at

  • Infinite physical affection expansion
    • Unlimited expansion of physical affection such as hugging lovers with height differences, passing a child’s bag, etc.
  • Extreme activities
    • Implementing skiing, mountain climbing, water sports, etc. using more dynamic terrain
  • Gaze fixation
    • ZOI fixes their gaze on objects they normally like
      • e.g. ZOI who likes coffee cannot take their eyes off when passing a cafe

Screen

  • Video distribution through Canvas
    • Upload/download videos through Canvas, and downloaded videos can be played on in-game screens
  • Tutorial
    • Provide tutorials such as building tutorials on in-game screens
  • Advertising
    • Play advertisements on in-game billboards for items that won Enjoi Creator Contest awards
    • Create tools to easily make advertisements
      • Add functionality to create various brands such as in-game clothing and products, and when such brands launch, provide in-game tools to easily create advertisements
  • Impact on skills
    • ZOI watching videos on screens goes beyond simply improving the ‘fun’ desire and generates appropriate skill increases or moodlets based on the video content

Audio

  • Audio distribution through Canvas
    • Upload/download audio files through Canvas, and downloaded audio can be played on in-game screens
  • Use in stores
    • Play appropriately atmospheric music in stores
    • Play actual store announcements or ambient noise
  • Use in custom villages (after update)
    • Use in space design when creating custom villages, such as adding bird sounds

    • Add Bluetooth earphones that function as flat BGM without surround sound
    • Use such as ZOI listening to ASMR while sleeping

  • Request for abstraction of commands
    • When playing with a controller, eventually you want to interact with just one button
    • To implement this, commands need to be more abstract than they are now
      • e.g. When commanding ‘speak’, how to speak, what content, and how to express it are determined by ZOI’s personality and tendencies
  • Request for additional interaction methods
    • In addition to the existing SIMS-style interaction pie menu, introduce various methods such as voice commands and keyboard input commands

I will write the following: (the number is the order of the function shown in the video)

  1. TV and music. The main question is: Why is this necessary? What useful function does this have? Answer: There is no benefit from this function. If it’s a decorative function, it’s also debatable. If it could be used as a showcase or advertisement for a business, that’s fine. But it won’t work that way, since there are no mechanics that I described and suggested here Have the function to simply turn on the music on the player.
  2. The quick access wheel. Yes, well, it’s convenient. But I would like to have a balance in the game. Make a shortcut wheel, for example, from a third-person view in manual operation. Otherwise, the side UI and keyboard shortcuts can be removed altogether, since they will no longer be needed.
  3. Mini games. Yes, this is what was needed from the very beginning with the addition of manual control from a third person. It should be a feature, only manually operated by a third person or a first-person. In normal control mode, Zois must do the actions themselves - without mini-games. The point is for the players to choose whether to participate or not. I would like not only a fishing mini-game, but also, for example, cooking, baseball, vending machine, surfing, etc. - there are a lot of options.
  4. Beating, bullying, etc. And why not. :grin: It will be interesting, but I would like it not to be in automatic mode at all or rarely, if Zoi does not have a predisposition to this. I would like it to be controlled by the player.
  5. Physics of the head. It should have been from the very beginning. This is as natural to humans as breathing and speech.
  6. Using IK animation. Yes, yes, and yes again. Finally! It should be unambiguous. But arm-in-arm animation is the least you can do. I really hope that thanks to such principles, you will soon announce the possibility of changing the growth of Zoi. Yes, of course it’s difficult to do this - you’ll have to rework a lot of things, but there is such an opportunity. And I wouldn’t be surprised if a whole new update comes out on this. There is already such a topic with solutions on the forum.

Yes, it’s all interesting. But I didn’t see any changes to the existing flaws and plugs. There are a lot of them, starting from the proximity of their own land to the world, to the transport system - this is bad.

Sadly for me almost all of those options would be a waste of time and effort , The only one i would be interested in would be for zois to walk holding hands , And in the video they did not actually look like they were holding hands there was a gap

Everything looks amazing! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: But there are a couple of things I’d like to give feedback on.

Fishing. The mini-game should either be very easy, or the player should be able to choose its difficulty level themselves, or even disable it entirely if they want, keeping the traditional fishing process. Personally, I don’t like all these speed-based games, so I’ll get bored quickly if fish are hard to catch.

And about the electric shocks. The probability of such moments happening in non-player-controlled households needs to be adjusted, and it should be VERY low. It looks more like a method of intentional murder, and if Sims left unsupervised start dying en masse from this—I don’t think many people will like it.

P.S. I hope for videos on screens we’ll be able to select files in HEVC, VP9, and AV1 formats, as well as those with resolutions different from Full HD? As I see it, all videos in the game are currently encoded in H264. And I wouldn’t want to have to pre-convert a video file if it’s stored in a more advanced codec just to select it as a custom file. Also, for long videos, when hovering the cursor, there should be a seek/scrub function like in a regular video player, so you don’t have to start watching from the beginning every time without being able to skip already-watched parts.

Yay! I’m so happy that the game will have the ability to walk while holding hands​:heart: Please add this interaction not only for lovers, but also for parents and their children—it would look so cute! And I’m also really looking forward to the ability to walk side by side with each other (for example, if you invite your friends for a walk, they would walk next to my Zoe when I use WASD)

Audiovisual:

Depending on how the devs incorporate celebrity careers into the game, this could become very relevant. If there’s a playable actress career, it would be extremely cool if when the director screams “Action!” there was an option to actually record a video of the performance. The player could be asked to pick and choose several angles to later edit into a full video. The same goes for a singer’s amphitheater performances or studio song recording. Those songs and videos could then be played in other zoi’s home TVs and radios or in the movie theater’s screen, making the actors/singers gain more fame and recognition.

Another way to integrate this is with the reporter career. I would love to see my zoi being randomly interviewed on the street by a reporter and cameraman and later watch that interview on the news on tv. Reporters and cameramen could work together to film various events around the city, like a protest for example, and later other households could see it played on the news on tv. Zois near the top of their careers could also unlock the eligibility for tv interviews in their area of expertise.

Hand-in-hand:

Hand-in-hand walking animations for couples would be extremely cool, but it shouldn’t be limited to couples. Teenager best friends could also walk arm-in-arm, as well as elderly mother/adult daughter pairs going out for a stroll. Later down the line, walking the dog could be an option.

One thing I would like to see is the ability to edit the schedule of children going to school to select someone to accompany them hand-in-hand from home to their school building. This could be a parent in the same household or maybe even a grandparent who lives elsewhere and wants to have that time to help out the busy parents and bond with the grandchildren. If there are several children in the family, it would be cool to have support for the grandparent taking two children hand-in-hand on both sides and for any leftover children to be either jealous or happy to be spared the humiliation. Instead of an adult, an independent child could choose to walk to school with another child, and depending on the children’s personalities maybe with skipping or running animations rather than just walking.

Another application could perhaps be ice skating or roller skating for couples, parents/children and miscellaneous groups.

If this technology allows for targeting both a zoi and an object, rather than just a pair of zois, then I’d like to see an upgrade to criminal activities, where a zoi could steal another zoi’s accessory shoulder bag. This could end up being a mini-game where we chase the thief with the help of the mini map UI and eventually catch the criminal or find the discarded shoulder bag (maybe some money is missing and it could be deducted from the household funds).

Puddles:

Regarding puddles, I think this should mainly take into consideration a zoi’s personality. Absent-minded zois should have a higher chance of stepping on the puddle, clumsy zois a higher chance of falling into the puddle, cautious zois a higher chance of taking a detour to avoid the puddle, malicious zois a higher chance of pushing someone nearby into the puddle and an energetic child zoi could playfully jump into the puddle and splash the water around.

Fishing:

I’m not particularly interested in fishing mini-games, what I would like to see is the ability to select fishing as a preference and the ability to schedule recurring fishing trips with a group of zois. For a bit of added realism, these fishing trips should be allowed to be scheduled differently depending on the season. Maybe 5:30 am to 8:30 am during Spring, 04:30 am to 07:30 am during Summer, 07:00 am to 11:00 am during Autumn and maybe they would choose to skip fishing during winter if the location was Dowon.

Concerning fishing, but also a bit off-topic, I would like the ability to place a selling mat or selling cart on the park near the other vendors and have it remain there. The zoi/household who placed it could then claim it, choose work hours and return to that spot whenever scheduled to sell whatever fish (or other sellable items) they have in their inventory.

Thank you for the exciting update, Kjun! The water spill mechanics in particular got me thinking about a whole layer of interconnected liquid surface effects – from freezing puddles and paint spills to cross-system interactions with fire, electricity, and the new melee weapons. I put together a more detailed thread about it in line with the forum guidelines.

Thank you for being here for us. I would like to suggest that you rework the randomization system; when a game operates according to predictable patterns, it feels lackluster and is unlikely to attract a new audience. I believe that, thanks to you, the game will continue to improve and become more polished with each passing year
