[06.12.26] Genetic Distortions over Multiple Generations

When in CAZ, I changed a zoi preset from male to female and then back to male. I made no changes to the face during this process. I’ve noticed previously that the female and male versions of the same preset look very different. This time I noticed that, when changing from male to female and back to male, the male faces before and after this process were very different.

I think this may indicate a larger problem with some presets and their impact on genetics:

  1. Sometimes children don’t resemble either parent. I have found this to be the case where children have inherited some features from the parent of the opposite sex (e.g. daughter inherits father’s eyes).
  2. Genetics are further distorted over multiple generations. If a daughter inherits her father’s nose, it looks nothing like her father’s nose. If the daughter then has a son who inherits the same nose, he has a distorted and exaggerated version of the grandfather’s nose and resembles neither parent or his grandfather (from whom he inherited the nose).

Please fix this!!!

There is certainly a bug that messes up the face settings when switching between genders. Easiest fix would be to stop having the faces change at all.

@RestlessSloth please also repost this in the bug forum, the developers need to see this.

Agree! This should be fixed!

@RestlessSloth apart from what you described that the children inherit from parents and if it is a different gender it looks differently - I also had another issue several times. I had children who must have inherited a very strange mix of features from their parents. They 1) did not look similar to either parent at all and 2) had a face proportion which was crazy ugly even though both parents were looking good and had no extreme features. While of course 2 pretty parents do not guarantee a pretty child there should be at least some similarities…

The main reason why this happens is described by me here Remove restrictions on Zoi skinning in CAZ. I can't create the right character. In short, all face change manipulators are rigidly linked to the face template. And since the facial patterns of the male and female Zois are different, therefore, the values of their manipulators are completely different. Based on this, the face value of the male Zoi is not equal to the values of the female Zoi. And when the gender is reversed, the facial values of the female Zoi shift to the male Zoi, which is why there are such distortions.

I hope I explained it properly.
