NPC characters do not move and do not initiate interactions on their own.

Could you please help? Nothing I’ve tried has fixed this issue. When I go to the high school, all the young Zois (NPCs) stand motionless in various parts of the building throughout the school day—they don’t interact, walk around, or talk to one another. They only leave the school en masse once the day is over. Essentially, the only time they move of their own accord is when school hours end; they don’t leave their spots even during scheduled activities like classes or breaks. They don’t attend lessons or eat. This problem isn’t limited to the high school; it happens at workplaces too. My young Zoi works at the grocery store, and when she arrives, dozens of NPC Zois are standing right in front of the entrance in a clump—literally overlapping or clipping into each other—without walking, talking, or going inside to interact. The game isn’t fun at all in this state; please help.

This seems quite tricky… Since the other ideas from your other post didn’t seem to help, maybe you can try this. If not, I am afraid someone from the team needs to take a look at it or some other member has an idea

Often, broken code fragments remain in your system cache after an update, causing AI pathfinding to loop or freeze.

  1. Close the game completely.
  2. Open your Steam library, right-click on inZOI, and select Properties.
  3. Go to the Installed Files tab and click Verify integrity of game files.
  4. Head to your local app data folder (usually C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\inZOI or Krafton) and safely delete the Saved\Crashes or temporary cache folders if they exist.

Test a “Clean” New Save File

If the issue is hard-baked into the specific 20260705_AutoSave file attached to that thread, the save data itself might be corrupted due to a broken property or schedule update.

  • Test it: Start a brand-new game file. Go straight to the grocery store or high school to see if the NPCs move normally.
  • If the new save works: Your old save file is unfortunately experiencing a “chain reaction bug” mentioned by the developers. You will either need to roll back to an older backup save or wait for an official patch.

If nothing else works, we sadly need to wait for a fix… Kjun has explicitly acknowledged that recent builds have introduced unexpected stability and AI routine bugs, leading the dev team to work overtime on weekend hotfixes. If the steps above don’t work and no one else has an idea, this is a deep engine-level issue that requires an official game patch to fix how multitasking and autonomy interact.

First of all, thank you very much for your help. I followed your advice, and the problem was resolved. I started by verifying the integrity of the game files, but that didn’t fix it. Then, I deleted all my saved game files. Unfortunately, doing so meant losing the character I was playing, but I’m happy that the issue was resolved this way. Thanks.

I’m sorry to hear that the file seemed to be corrupted, but that you can at least play now:four_leaf_clover:
