Since terrain editing is currently not available, floor tiles are the only way to design larger lawn, garden, and landscape areas. For my current building project, I even had to create my own custom grass texture because I couldn’t find a suitable lawn texture in the game.
However, I ran into several problems while laying down the floor tiles. To align the transitions cleanly and seamlessly, you have to zoom in very close. In this close-up view, however, large floor tiles can hardly be edited in a meaningful way anymore.
At the same time, you are heavily restricted by the scaling options. Floor tiles cannot be adjusted to be narrow or small enough, and they always change their size from both sides simultaneously. As a result, they often do not fit into the desired spot and cannot be aligned precisely.
This means that large floor tiles are practically unusable for this kind of work, forcing you to use many individual floor tiles instead. This makes designing large outdoor areas unnecessarily complicated and very time-consuming.
I would like to see more flexible scaling options for floor tiles, the ability to resize them from a single side, and an improvement to the overall workflow when laying down large outdoor areas. As long as there is no terrain editing, floor tiles remain the most important tool for designing gardens and landscapes.
