When we are crafting pickaxes or other tools as well as cutting gems these go directly into the inventory after crafting. That way you can chain up several actions to raise the skill or simply craft several items after eachother without permanently watching after the Zoi because manual interaction is needed.
Why not the same for sculptures?
For these the Zoi makes one, then stands with the sculpture in his / her hand and is unable to do anything meaningfull before we do not manually order to put the item into the bag. This is very annoying given that it only takes 7 minutes to craft a sculpture, so you need to do all the clicking every 7 in game minutes if you want to craft several items in a row.
I can see that it’s really annoying. I didn’t dabble much into sculpture crafting myself, but it doesn’t make any sense. It feels like the prompt for it is just… missing? I hope they will add it
The more I think of it: I think they just thought of the use case that you make a sculpture to restock your shelves in a shop - for this you of course do not need to put it in the bag. And yes, this might be the main use case for the sculptures. But if you just want to level Handiwork at home with making sculptures this becomes massively annoying and maybe they just did not think of it.
By the way it is the same issue with the flower baskets / bouquets. These also remain in Zois hands if made at home. Only if the “restock” option is used then the Zoi puts them on the shelves. Otherwise you need to manually place these somewhere or put into the bag.
