Mods for Macbook

We are really missing out with no mods on MacBook! I am getting a bit bored too so I hope it will be implemented soon. Thank you!

MacBooks aren’t suitable for mods. Still haven’t figured that out?

What a kind reply. Ex simmer with a LOT of mods so in my opinion incorrect what you are saying.

Mods are supported only on PCs. MacBooks with limited hardware cannot handle them. This is the bitter truth. :slightly_smiling_face: Constantly asking for this won’t change anything because it is not a realistic demand.

Dear fellow InZOI-player, first of I’d like to ask if we can be a bit more respectful to one another when replying to each others posts? :slightly_smiling_face: I play InZOI (and the Sims in the past before they lost their ways) on a MacBook as well and it runs the game like a breeze. It can handle mods from talented modders just as well as a Windows laptop. It’s not the hardware but severe safety rules that Apple has that prevents third parties to enter their powerful realm.. If the devs want mods to play an important role in a life-sim like InZOI to enrich fun and gameplay, than Mac-players shouldn’t be left out. There is a way to Apple’s heart so as a player I expect all features for the game including mods, to be available for Mac-players too. So, Mac-players are perfectly allowed to ask for updates on that part of the roadmap on the forum whenever they want to.

Okay the Apple company doesn’t allow mods. In that case you can’t pressure the InZOI developers. The engine used in InZOI is different from the one used in The Sims. Be a little realistic. You can’t have everything you want. @SamNYC_0002 @TinyFable Inzoi is not responsible for your Apple company’s MacBook.

Hey, maybe you can try running the Windows PC version on your Mac using CrossOver?
There are some caveats, though: you need to buy a license, it takes time and effort to set up, and it only supports the Steam version. But still, it’s the closest you can get to running mods on your Mac if, for some reason, getting a new Windows gaming PC or laptop solely for mods isn’t feasible, and the performance is close to native.

Les MacBooks avec du matériel limité ne peuvent pas les gérer

But it is not true since several years on Macs using Apple Silicon processors. I suppose you were talking about old Macs with Intel processors and bad gfx cards ? My Mac Mini M4 Pro is very fast and its GPU is very fast too, nearly as fast as my PC gamer i9 32 Go RAM & RTX 3080ti 16 Go RAM (and the Mac’s power consumption is 5 times less than that of a PC: 5-10 French cents a gaming day vs 30-50 cents with my PC).
And since both Unreal Engine 5.6 and MacOS 26 with Metal 4 made inZOI to run even faster : the FPS just doubled under CrossOver.

But remember: some years ago Apple started to make efforts to show that Macs are suitable for games.

Here’s my theory:
At the time, Apple might have paid game companies to encourage them to port their games to macOS. It’s worth remembering that, strangely enough, Apple was able to showcase the best and most resource-intensive games of the time—such as Cyberpunk 2077—in the same year that inZOI was released.
Apple had to impress gamers to win them over.

For mods:
When Apple and KRAFTON signed a deal (my theory) for a Mac version, official mods didn’t exist yet, and that might be one reason—perhaps the contract specified “a port of the game in its current state”… If yes then KRAFTON has no reason to add mods to Mac version and they wait Apple for bucks to add mods.

And now here’s some VERY GOOD news:
Shortly after my last post about CrossOver, I finally figured out how to get inZOI PC running on CrossOver to use the old mods from the “~mods” folder!
It was just a matter of getting dsound.dll—which is installed by “InZOI Mod Enabler”—to run in the game directory.
In the CrossOver bottle settings, under Wine Configuration, on the Libraries tab, click on dsound.dll and select “Native, then Integrated”.
