Make modding easier for mac
Just as the title says- I spent an hour downloading (clothes shopping) mods for inzoi only to find out thereās no mod support for Mac!
If this is not possible, then at least remove all mod items from canvas for Mac, or have a filter setting for it, so we arenāt tempted by things we can never have ![]()
The level of detail theyāre aiming for is wild. Iām just hoping the āLive Togetherā features are as deep as the character creator looks. Itās been a long time since weāve had a life sim that looks this next-gen. Canāt wait for the next playtest!
I bought the Steam version today in addition to the Mac App Store version, only to discover that it doesnāt support mods either. Double the money for less performance.
The game costs the same for Mac as for Windows, so I expect the same features.
When will mod support be available for Mac? Or at least a filter function in Canvas for mod-free downloads? Iām wasting hours cluttering up my hard drive with downloads from Canvas that then donāt even work in the game.
Iām macOS user myself so I fully understand how painful this is. On the bright side, in his December 5th update, Kjun mentioned that they are in their preliminary stages of testing mods for MacOS. As of now we donāt have a date of when mods will be supported, but at least we know they are actively working on it.
Posting to stay informed. Totally looking forward to being able to mod on my mac directly!![]()
? the price is the same on both devices, all 40
You said make it easier for Mac⦠does that mean there is a way? Can you download and use Mods on Mac somehow or are mods not available on Mac at all yet? Thanks
Iām a big fan of the SIMS franchise. Iāve been playing since the original 2000 MAC release. Since EA played us with the SIMS 5 and now that INZOI is out for MAC Iām looking forward to all the new possibilities. But I need this MODS support ASAP ⦠Please help us
To get official mods, you can use CrossOver for Mac (there are often significant discounts) and under CrossOver you install Steam PC version which you use to install inZOI PC version (free since you purchased the Mac version on Steam). Just the old mods in ~mods are not taken into account.
Since the late March update based on Unreal Engine 5.6, inZOI works perfectly under CrossOver. I even find that the PC version is slightly better graphically (no noise in the shadows) and practically just as fast. Itās worth knowing that CrossOver uses a driver that redirects Direct3D access to Metal, so no slowdown because thereās no D3D emulation.
Even better news for Mac users !
Now Mac users can use both old ~mods and new official Mods !!! playing the Windows version of inZOI under CrossOver Mac.

3 main steps :
1- install CrossOver Mac, add a Win 10 bottle, install Steam PC then inZOI PC.
2- Install the mod InZOI Mod Enabler in the inZOI binaries directory
3- Parameter CrossOver Mac so that Wine can recognize the dsound.dll installed with the mod
For step 1
The parameters of the bottle must be MSync, and the gfx driver D3DMetal.
For step 2
Download the old Mod Enabler, not the āEngine Nextā.
For step3
In the CrossOver bottle for Steam, select CONTROL PANELS on the right, then Configure Wine, then the Library tab, then add ādsoundā to the list, and finally modify it to ānative, builtinā if not already set.
You can see that the install is OK when you launch inZOI : when Binaries/Win64/dsound.dll is used by inZOI, a log file ābitfix.txtā is created.
See these french screenshots :
The inZOI Windows version works very well now on CrossOver Mac because :
- MacOS 26 has a lot of work done into the Metal API (like Vulcan on PC) which added +100% FPS (CrossOver just redirect Direct3D calls to Metal so this is as fast)
- Very good visual quality in performance mode
- No more crash (perhaps caused by UE 5.4 ?)
- In electricity consumption it costs only 0.10 ⬠a day instead of 0.50 ⬠a day on the PC + RTX 3080ti
- The game is now said to be run on Mac M1. I play on a Mac M4 Pro with high settings with 40-70 FPS depending on the scene.
