Mod manager fails to update mods.

  • Game Version: 0.3.4 Hotfix

  • Platform: Steam Windows

  • Mods: active
:round_pushpin:If you have used mods before, please list them:

  • Hardware Specifications & Operating System Windows 11 25h2, 5800x3D, 7800xt, 32 GB DDR4, 2x1TB + 1x2TB

  • Issue Date: September 1st, 2025

  • Error Message: None

  • Details:
  • The mod manager leaves folders empty when trying to uninstall a mod or updating a mod.
  • This creates the that by leaving empty folders the mod manager thinks that the mod is still installed and cannot be updated and cannot be completely deleted.

Currently when trying to update a mod, the progression bar stay stuck at 100% and never progress and you cannot delete a mod from the mod manager.

I found a temporary fix.

  1. Find the mod ID that Cursedforge gave to the mod.(You might have to open each folder in C:\Users\*\Documents\inZOI\Mods\88849
  2. Make sure the mod inside is the correct named folder is the mod you want to delete or update.
  3. Delete that mod folder manually under C:\Users\\Documents\inZOI\Mods\88849\*
  4. Go back in game and browse to find the mod again if you want to use it again. You should be able to download the updated version.

I’m going to bump this post.

Updating mods has become a hassle with Curseforge.

I for one, would love to use Steam’s Workshop instead as that takes care of updating mods automatically before launching the game. Curseforge has proven to be terrible.

Right now I have a ton of mods I need to update on my mod list (according to the curseforge in-game system). I click on update and find out the previous mod files get deleted, and then the system doesn’t download / install the new ones until I have to go and find which folder it’s in manually, delete the folder, go back to the game, return to the mod validation screen, go to curseforge again, wait for the popup to tell me there’s a mod updating, click continue, and only then it downloads the update.

It’s terrible…

I totally get the suggestion. Due to the constant updating needed to keep mods active, I stopped using any (even small outfits) shortly after trying it for the first time. Maybe, in addition to your reply here, you could start a Wishlist post with your suggestion  I think a lot of players would support the idea.

Already did XD even shared a video because this is insane. Having to manually delete folders one by one to update your mods, if you use a few sure takes a few minutes, but I know some people have HUNDREDS of mods installed and it gets overwhelming.
