Problems with Cahaya resort treasure hunt

  • Game Version: 0.3.5

  • Platform: Steam windows

  • Mods: never used

  • Hardware Specifications & Operating System Windows 10, Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3070, 16GB RAM

  • Details:
The treasure hunt at the Cahaya resort (the one where you search for gold bars) is messed up in all sorts of ways. I’m unsure exactly what’s a bug and what is just unfinished / unbalanced content, so I’ll describe what happened:

  • I bought a treasure hunt ticket for 30 resort coins, costing 600 Mew (the exchange rate is absurdly high, but that’s not a ‘bug’ as such so I’ll let it go for now.)

  • After starting the event and hunting all over the island, I managed to find 10 gold bars to exchange. The text messages promised ‘big prizes’, but the exchange kiosk only gave me 30 resort coins, the same amount I paid to take part in the treasure hunt. The only other thing I found was a few boxes of fruit-gums, which was nice, but not exactly what I’d call a prize.

  • It’s not made at all clear whether there’s more to the hunt at this point. I discovered a few more gold bars which I don’t think were there before, but I could only find 6 of them, which wasn’t enough to exchange. Eventually I found a ‘fancy’ box with 100 resort coins, still not nearly enough to exchange for the more expensive prizes.

  • The ‘hint’ text for both general and fancy boxes is very unclear - probably a translation issue.

  • Some of the prizes in the exchange kiosk are definitely bugged, e.g. the garden villa voucher. I had enough coins to pay for them, but when I tried to click on them, I just got a message that ‘you are low on resort coins’.

  • Of the prizes I could get, none of them were worth anything like the 600 Mew I’d spent to take part in the hunt. (I know because I tried selling them.)

I realise a lot of Cahaya mechanics and content are still unfinished, but this was the first time I felt genuinely angry when playing the game. The whole thing just felt like a massive waste of time. At the very least, once you find the 10 gold bars, you should be able to exchange them for a lot more than 30 resort coins - 300 would be more reasonable.

Hi @Liessahl, thanks a lot for the detailed report.
We completely understand the inconvenience you mentioned, but most of the points you made seem to fit better under the Wishlist category rather than being actual bugs, so we’ll move this post there for now.

However, regarding the issue where the exchange kiosk shows a “low on resort coins” message even though you have sufficient coins, this does look like a potential bug. Could you please create a separate post for this one in the Bug Report? Some screenshots would also be really helpful for us to investigate further.

Thanks again for your report! :psycat_thumbsup:

Unfortunately I no longer have so many resort coins in that save, and I don’t know how to cheat myself more, but I’ll try to get some more and see if I can reproduce the bug.

OK, this is confusing: I went back to the resort the day after the treasure hunt, and the prizes available from the kiosk were completely different. E.g. the first day there was a voucher for the garden villa costing 150 resort coins (which seemed to be bugged), but the next day there was one for the water villa costing only 40 coins. Is this related to the recent update, or do the prizes randomly change each day?

Maybe the cost of the voucher depends on how expensive the accomodation is to rent?
Iirc the garden villa is more expensive than the water villa.

It’s a bit more expensive yeah, but I wouldn’t have expected it to make that much of a difference. However, the main thing that confused me was some of the prizes disappearing altogether and new ones appearing.
