Game crashes when loading

  • Game Version: Latest I presume with Steam updates

  • Platform: Steam

  • Mods: Never Used

  • Hardware Specifications & Operating System: Windows 11, Intel Arc A770, AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6 Core Processor (3.50 GHz), 16 GB Ram, 1 TB SSD (621 GB still free)

  • Issue Date: May 2025

  • Error Message: None currently. Previously it was saying “The game may not run due to the device’s limited graphics card performance.”

  • Details: I first purchased the game back in April or May and only played it for a couple of days and I had the original graphics card that came with my computer, which was an Intel Arc A380. The game was able to run on that graphics card just fine, it just had some minor graphics issues like the ground rippling. I didn’t have a lot of money on hand at the time and decided to do a small graphics card update and swapped to a Sparkle Intel Arc A770. Logically if it ran on a lower grade Intel Arc card it should run on a higher one right? Nope. The game never ran again once I installed the new card even though it was the same brand and same drivers. When I first tried to run the game on the A770 it would only giving me an error message saying “The game may not run due to the device’s limited graphics card performance.” and then it would close immediately. After a few weeks of that, it at least started acting like it would open and it goes to the little blue rectangle that says Inzoi with the cat, and then would crash right back to Steam, and that’s still what it does today after several months. I have already read every single thread in this board about crashes and followed every single suggestion as far as deleting shader cache folders and whatnot and I have tried all of the suggestions posted and nothing works. I keep trying after every graphics driver update hoping it will finally open again and still nothing, so I am here hoping for new suggestions!

Maybe your game has still the ‘data’ from the old graphics card and did not recognize the new one?
Have you cleared the cache and verified your game files via steam or reinstalled the game?

Hi there! Sorry to hear this is happening to you, it’s very frustrating. Just to know, did you update the drivers to match your new graphic card? Does you graphic card software have any inzoi related driver? I know you said you tried a lot of things but have you tried the following:

  • Clearing your cache.
  • Verifying files through steam.
  • Running the game in compatibility mode.

Hi!
Other than the above mentioned points about clearing the cache, you may find the following info useful.

I am an intel-NVidia user. I do not know much about AMD and intel Arc GPUs. The following are best practices that I know of and have followed. Usually when upgrading to a next level GPU, it is good to ensure the following.

Power Supply.
Next level, better GPUs, usually require more power. Ensure that your A770 meets the power requirements. Check your PSU. Monitor the power surge/temperature when you run graphics heavy applications.

Drivers.
Use DDU for a clean driver install. Use the Driver Uninstaller tool in Windows safe mode to prevent driver conflicts and completely remove the previously installed drivers. Then install the latest drivers for your version of the GPU from the official site.

BIOS settings.
For optimal performance, for intel cpus, Resizable Bar should be enabled in the BIOS of the motherboard. For AMD cards, this may be termed as Smart Access Memory. Please check this, as I have an Intel CPU and am not aware of the exact AMD equivalent.

The following may sound silly, but I have seen this happen. Ensure that when installing the new GPU, other onboard cards, Memory sticks, USB plugs, fans etc, were not disturbed. Even a minor dislodging from slots can cause heating or anomalous behavior. It is nice to check. (If you have had the new GPU installed at a service center, they would have ensured this. This tip is mostly for at-home installations).

When you run Inzoi, and before the crash occurs, you can have the Resource Monitor tool running and check GPU, disk, CPU and Memory activity.

Lastly, you can mail support and ask if your version of the GPU meets the game requirement.

Hope your issue is resolved soon.

I did yes, cleared cache, reinstalled game, uninstalled drivers via DDU when I installed the new graphics card and installed them brand new even though it was another Intel card and my drivers were updated previously. And yes I have verified the game files, multiple times.

All of the above was done, spent a lot of time researching answers before I made a new post to make sure I tried everything that was already suggested. Cache was cleared, game files verified multiple times and it says everything is fine, have tried running in compatibility mode… When I installed the driver I cleared the old drivers out with DDU and installed them all fresh just to be safe, even though they were both Intel Arc cards and used the exact same drivers, I have since then gone through with DDU an additional time and removed them all again and reinstalled them all just to try a second time and it didn’t help. The game ran fine on these exact same drivers, on this computer, with the same family and brand of graphics card, the only thing that changed was swapping to a higher model and for some reason that broke it.

The power supply is fine, I checked the requirements before getting the new card and it’s not having any kind of power or temperature surge when the game starts. I did use DDU and completely uninstalled the drivers when I installed the new card even though it was the same brand of card and used the exact same drivers, just to be safe, and since then I have used DDU and uninstalled the drivers again and reinstalled them and it still hasn’t helped. Resizable Bar is enabled and everything else is undisturbed and still running properly as it’s supposed to be.

I have made some research, and it seems that Intel Arc A770 does give some crash problems with games, but I found that this driver seem to be the one who works the best for inZOI for your type of gpu: Intel Arc GPU Graphics Drivers 101.6653 Beta.

I put a link above so you can check what is discussed about it. What driver are you currently using? Is it that one or a different one?

I normally use the latest version of the same drivers straight from the Intel site, so until a few minutes ago I was using the Intel® Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8135… it looks like they were just recommending an earlier version? Either way I did get excited since it’s finally something I had not yet tried  Downloaded both the most recent version from the website linked there (101.8132) which didn’t work, and then also went and found the specific earlier driver version they mentioned in that forum post and downloaded it also (the 101.6653 which is what I still have loaded at the moment after the experiments)… it did finally do something different for that one and threw up a pop up about not being able to sync with the steam cloud and I thought it was going to work, and then alas, it went right back to crashing :joy: I think this game just realllly hates this graphics card!

Hi @kdpatt85,
First of all, we are sorry for the inconvenience.

From the details you’ve shared, this issue may be related to the graphics card. However, before we can confirm that, we kindly ask you to try the troubleshooting steps listed in our FAQ. We’ve got some of the steps that may help.

1. Update Windows

  • Click the Windows button in the bottom-left → Go to Windows Settings → Go to Updates & Security → Update Windows to the latest version.

2. Verify game file integrity

  • Go to your Steam Library → Right-click the game → Go to Properties → Go to Installed Files → Select [Verify integrity of game files].

3. Disable non-essential software

  • Running software which interferes with Steam may prevent the game from properly launching.

  • Disable Discord, NVIDIA GeForce Experience, and any other background applications that generate overlays or have high memory usage.

4. Check system requirements

  • Check if your PC specifications meet the system requirements for inZOI.

You can also try to search for more information from our official FAQ site.

Hi, all of this is done! Windows is completely up to date, I even tried updating the BIOS tonight to see if that would help… I checked the integrity of the files again and it says all 9075 files successfully validated… I just restarted the computer a minute ago and I closed absolutely every application possible and checked for any hidden ones using a lot of memory to close as well and then went into Steam to try to run the game again, first normally, and then I tried running as administrator, still didn’t work. And it does meet all the other PC specifications and the game ran with no problems with the original graphics card which was an Intel Arc A380, the only change has been upgrading to the Intel Arc A770 that made the game no longer work at all several months back!

Hi! Did this issue get resolved? It must be so frustrating.

Have you experienced any anomalies with any other game or software that would have a high GPU usage? Have you tested this card to its limits, other than playing inZOI? This is to see if this issue is with inZOI alone or not.

As suggested above, I would try substituting the current GPU card in question with another. Just to check whether this particular card is the one causing issues.

Hi, unfortunately it’s definitely not resolved. I don’t actually play a lot of games to test this with.. But I don’t have this problem with any other games I do play. I can play the Sims 4 with all its gazillion expansions and mods and CC just fine, and I can play Hogwarts Legacy also off Steam just fine, which is pretty demanding on the GPU and specs in general. So it seems to be specific to inZOI. I only have this graphics card and my old one available, but it does seem to be specific to this graphics card because that’s the ONLY thing I changed about the computer as they are the same family of card. I went from an Intel Arc A330 to an Intel Arc A770. At the time I was changing the card, my drivers were fully updated, but I did uninstall them with DDU and reinstall them just to be safe even though they were the exact same drivers for the cards since it was just an upgraded version of the same model of card. I am trying to avoid swapping back to the old card just to play one single game since the old card gave me a lot of other problems, even gifs in Discord would crash with that one (but for some reason it would run inZOI but this higher model won’t? Nothing makes sense :joy:)

Hello, the games you mentionned are really different from inZOI… You can’t compare
Personally, I don’t know your type of GPU. If you try to play inZOI with the graphic parameters, all in low, it works ?

lol DivineManifest asked if I had had this problem with any other games so I offered up a couple of other examples and was explaining this was the only game that gave me issues? It was just to answer that person’s question… And no, there is nothing I have been able to change to make the game work on this specific graphics card even though it’s an upgraded version of the same card I was using before.

Hey! Sorry to know that this issue continues.

Does the game now run on the new graphics card after the v041 update? Or rather, are the issues that you see, the same as with the previous game version?

No, it still doesn’t run at all :smiling_face_with_tear: Exact same issue still, it opens up to the Inzoi splash and then crashes right back to Steam. I have tried absolutely everything I could find suggested on these forums and suggested around the internet, even tried rolling back my drivers to an older version to get the older control panel so I could try some different options and chatgpt and I spent hours trying different things, I haven’t been able to find a solution. I just makes no sense to me that the Intel Arc A330 I had worked, but now the Intel Arc A770 won’t :woman_facepalming: I don’t want to swap back to the 380 though because it gave me a ton of problems everywhere else, even gifs on Discord would crash with the 380, so I fear I am stuck until Inzoi just eventually updates and starts working with this card.

That’s very sad!

As I suggested earlier, you can still try the following:

  • If you have still have the old card, put it in and see if the game works. This is simply to isolate the issue between the game and the new card. This does not mean you should continue with the old card.
  • Swap this new card with another piece of the same type. This helps in eliminating whether this particular physical card has some issue. This is important.
  • If you can, find a physically different system, say with a friend, that has a different motherboard and CPU compatible with your graphics card and test if the game runs. A time consuming process, but again, this is to get to the root of the problem - is it this particular physical graphics card, or is this family of the graphics card, or is it a combination of CPU, motherboard, RAM and this particular GPU, or other factors such as the BIOS version and its setting of your current motherboard. After all, these all work in tandem. This system swap will help in isolating the game not working issue.

All the above points are to isolate the issue of “game does not work on Intel Arc A770” (assuming the physical piece of the card that you have is okay along with your system configuration).
It is possible that Inzoi may be accessing certain GPU calls that other games may not be. If you do isolate the issue to the GPU type (Intel Arc A770), you can then mail to support with your issue. That will help the Devs as well as other players who may run into this issue.

Hope this gets resolved soon!

Unfortunately I am a bit isolated and don’t really have anyone around at all that I can try to do system swaps with  I do still have the old card though, and I put it back in temporarily and yes, the computer was able to run the game again, just with the same rippling graphics from before that prompted me to upgrade. Put the current (new) card back in and once again can’t run the game.

I didn’t know that such a thing existed until this week, but I finally learned of the existence of NVIDIA GeForce NOW and rather begrudgingly paid the $10.00 for a 1-month plan just to see if this game would work through their cloud-based hardware on my computer, and it does, perfectly. So I think, sadly, the end result is it’s just this graphics card, however illogical it may be that the game somehow works on an Intel Arc A380 but not an Intel Arc A770 lol. Because obviously it works on my computer and my computer doesn’t seem to be the problem, only this card throws a kink into the works. I think I am just stuck until hopefully they update enough to end up working with this card one day unless I want to keep paying $10 a month for the GeForce Now service. :upside_down_face:
