Staircases with a stair wall are no longer hollow

This may be a bug or simply a design decision by the team to change stair walls but hollowed staircases allowed for more building options by being able to place objects under it. In some countries it is very common for staircases to have a closet or small bathroom under them (e.g: Harry Potter slept under the stairs).

Please undo this change or allow for users the option to fully enclose staircases or hollow staircases when stairwall is enabled.

  • Game Version: 20251103.8469.W

  • Platform: Steam windows

  • Mods: removed

  • Hardware Specifications & Operating System (OS version, CPU, GPU, RAM, storage…):

    • Graphics: GeForce Nvidia 3070 Ti (24GB)

    • Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor

    • OS: Windows 11: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

    • RAM: 64GB

    • Storage: 2TB

  • Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Enter build mode and add a staircase.
  2. Enter customization mode and enable the stair wall for the staircase. You will see it is no longer hollow.

Screenshot 1: In the latest version (20251103.8469.W) as depicted in the photo below the staircases are no longer hollow.

Screenshot 2: Previously (before the Halloween update) staircases with stairwalls were hollow which allowed for placing objects under it.

Seeing as the October update introduced a lot of bugs with stairs, it’s highly probable that this is a bug as well

It happens to me too. I just thought they had changed it for some reason, I didn’t think it could be a mistake. But that gap was certainly very useful for many things…
