Custom textures are randomly displayed grainy and darkened

Since the Halloween update when applying custom textures to objects like picture frames and rugs they will appear grainy and dark. I have used those same custom textures previously without issue prior to the Halloween update.

Note:

  1. Previously the color wheel would be hidden when a custom texture is applied but now it visible.
  2. This has always been an issue when applying custom textures to walls since the game was released in early access but now it’s happening to other objects.

Video 1: In the video below you can see when selecting custom textures they are sometimes displayed grainy or darkened. Adjusting the color wheel seems to be the only thing that will fix it.

Now this is really annoying ö.ö
Why? :sob:

Left ingame painting - right the plain BLACKPINK logo (below the original pic I brought ingame, there is no grain and the color is different)

I can also confirm this is happening in my game. Hope it gets fixed soon!

Weirdly, the picture gets also darker when changing the color of the frame and moving the sliders to adjust the position -.-

And when I paste the color and material to the same picture/frame it also changes ö.Ö

It also turns darker and lighter when you change the pattern scale of the picture. Partly only a little darker like here (the above pattern scale is at 80 and the below at 84)

Or even as dark that the picture is nearly unvisible like here (above still 80, below pattern scale at 86)

Also I noticed that some pictures which were set to be in a good light turn dark during gameplay or after reload (not sure what causes this) and need to be readjusted again.

This is also happening with beds

Changing the color should not affect the texture color if a ‘my texture’ is chosen

Maybe that’s what is affecting the bathtub I posted a bug for the other day.
In fact it seems to be a shadows thing with texture so pretty sure the 2 are linked.

It also happens with the sun towels and carpets. So it seems to be various objects where this occures.

Also strange enough like i posted before with the pictures (see screenshots in my post further above) it changes. What I mean by that: I scale the picture so that it shows up in the correct light, then next time I load the save some pictures have turned dark even though nothing has changed and you have to scale them again. Even scaling the pattern back and forth to the exactly same size as it was before might help, but you have to scale it up or down before to get it in the correct light again.

I’ve been meaning to make this exact same post. It’s been a problem for me since the update.

Hi everyone(@here), we’re currently investigating this issue. We’ll share an update as soon as we have one.

I noticed the pattern also changes when I rotate an object.
When I rotate back, it changes to the color before.

The rotation fix doesn’t really work for me..
This bug is actually driving me insane. I have been trying to make both a Halloween build,a fall cottage and now I am working on a Christmas build. It is almost impossible to take photos of the builds so that I can upload them, because the paintings and fabrics look like they decided to take a bath in an ashtray.

Ah, it wasn’t meant as a fix. Just further information for the devs who investigate.

Oh yes I got that:slightly_smiling_face: sorry for venting my frustrations!
With a lot of the bugs I feel like I have managed to find some kind of temporary work around at least, but finally the bugs won.:upside_down_face:

Understandable. Even more frustrating since it perfectly worked before and now it seems it’s so hard to fix it :sob:
