Yeah, that’s why I’m taking a break from this video game for now. At least until they revert back the time of day, animation length and fix the doors color bug (what an eyesore and pretty much the easiest bug to fix, but they still haven’t fix it yet after 3 hotfixes). Meh, wake me up when the video game is good again.
Pretty sure you can fill an entire hunger gauge from a single free glass of water too.
What’s weird about this bug (which apparently is by design) is that when you read the original change, it clearly said that : “The eating animation will no longer take over 30 minutes” – Which is a GREAT change. Because of the quicker days, and you can bet that when scripting comes, someone will make a 24min day to mimic “The Sims”.
Then ppl happily logged into the game, the 48min players rejoiced ! … And everyone else cried.
And yes it’s abysmal in the 4 hour time of day. Tho apparently you can cancel de eating/drinking animation once full which I had not tried.
Still, ask any new players about this, and they’ll say : “Why is this taking so long, why keep eating/drinking since their bars has been full for a while now… something’s not working right”
The only danger is that the DEVS could EASILY make this WORSE instead of fixing it.
They could fix it by making the bar take forever to recover, like the energy bar is now.
I hope they fix it to “not take longer than” and it it takes 5 in-game minutes in the 4hrs time and 1min in the 24 hours, then so be it.
Dear Devs, just get back to pre-V0.3 game with 96 minutes default. The needs and day speed was all good then.
This is why I am no longer playing. The disconnect between the animation length and the speed that needs are fulfilled is ridiculous, as is only being able to complete a meal if you are playing the 48 minute day length. What exactly is the point of having day length options if only one of them is playable?
Still not fixed in v0.4.4, unfortunately. ![]()
I actually noticed a similar thing with the 48 min day as well. So it is the case for all day lenghts apparently, not only the longer ones. For the 96 min day and 4 hours it is probably only even more drastic as it is even faster that the bar fills up and even longer until the animation ends.
I was not paying so much attention to it after the update as I had a bigger family and ordered them to eat without exactly checking how the bar is filling while they were eating. And as the max 30 min is kind of Ok for the 48 min day I was not directly disturbed by that.
Now that I started a new save and was playing a single Zoi with more time to follow all of the Zoi`s actions in detail I noticed that also in the 48 min day the hunger bar is actually already full after half of the dish. If the hunger bar is not completely empty even a little faster. So even with the 48 min day a Zoi can eat at least twice from the same dish to fill his hunger, sometimes even 3 times.
I checked the time and it only takes around 10-15 in game minutes with the 48 min day until the hunger bar is full but the Zoi would need the full 30 min to finish the dish if you do not cancel it.
So I think 10-15 min for eating would be perfectly fine, also in the 48 min day. But the dish then should not be only half eaten after that.
Most of the needs are broken right now.
- My zoi stepped in the shower and in 3 seconds the Hygiene bar is already full.
- Zois starts eating and 3-10sec later their Hunger bar is full.
- You send zois to sleep at 9:15pm and they all go to sleep… They wake up at 9:45pm not having rested and go to the bathroom (no need), or eat (no need), or just start watching TV… Like… “Go to sleep you idiot !”.
- Bathroom need jumps from 4/5th full to 2/5th instantly in the matter of 30 in-game minutes (no food poisoning).
Playing mostly 4hrs but I also have a celibate Zoi playing alone in 96min and it’s just as borked.
I think it goes FAR further than just the “Eating animation” which seems to be the first one everyone sees.
It’s not unplayable per say, but goddarn is it annoying and stupid…. lol.
They really should revert back to pre-0.4.0 until it is properly tested internally and ready for primetime.
Hi everyone(@here),
The issue has been confirmed and added to the known issues list. We’ll keep you updated once this has been fixed.
Awesome, very happy to hear this!
I’m happy to say this is at least somewhat improved in the latest patch, though I haven’t had time to test it extensively yet. Eating animation still feels a bit long IMO, but at least Zois aren’t filling their hunger bar with the animation only 1/5 complete.
THAT PART
I get we are gamers of all ages with big emotions bc we care - bc we are invested with our creativity, our money, and most importantly - our time. I am no exception. But vitriol at any level negates the valid point we are making and focuses on the neagtive emotions. The emotion comes across but without the valid thoughts and opinions and experience we are trying to share.
But most importanly, the developers and moderators are people - let us not forget our humanity in this forum. …no matter how silly what they say seems to be, bc it is also quite silly to me.
The ultimate goal is hyperrealism - it does not take 10 minutes to drink a glass of water - unless it is partially frozen, I guess. And all these little things (as a result of forcing the 48) add up to a disjointed timeline that makes 96 gameplay awkward, and I think that is working against the sense of hyperrealism that inZOI champions…so far better than anyone ever has prior.
In my opinion, the 48 day stinks compared to what we had in the beginning. 96 was put out first bc that was the vision. I suspect it was changed to 48 due to the people bankrolling this thing and they perhaps have never played the game…but only read discord comments?
I also fear that @LennyOgg may be right, too ![]()
Passionate (but respectful) replies are what keeps the lights on, amirite?![]()
Just to add that, as of testing in the last couple of days, needs and the related actions/animations now seem to be balanced and take the expected amount of time to complete.
I have only tried on 96 minute days (as that is my chosen duration), but I assume all options have been rebalanced, as per the patch notes.
Go play a 4 hour / day game.
Make a family of 4-6 zoi.
Play it and try to keep their gauge filled.
Bonus points if 2 of your zois are adopted toddlers. (not newborns, toddlers).
You’ll change ideas really quick.
But yes the 96min was made much more stable since last patch
Still worse than what it was before they messed with the default time tho, I’m not cutting them any slack on that dumb change.
Just did a test in 96min. This is 2025-12-17 @ 1.30pm EST
I let my zoi’s bathroom gauge empty out completely.
Then went to the bathroom, Needs gauge not full.

Either the bathroom interaction need to scale on need requirement (lower gauge takes more time to complete, basically take the time needed to fill it up - which makes sense), or that using a bathroom interaction takes always the same set amount of time but always refill the gauge completely
It’s 2-3x as worse in the 4hrs, FYI… Needing sometimes 2 baths in a row or 3-4 bathroom interactions in a row to refill the gauges. Energy is a PITA too in that time/day setting.
So no, not fixed unfortunately, still need adjusting as far as I know.
[ EDIT: Really funny how empty to half in ONE bathroom interaction at the 96min time per day. Considering that 96min is double the 48min (the new default), it makes sense… God changing default to 48min was BAAAAAD ! ]
Something really has changed as @SmallArchangel said. But not all is fixed. I just wonder which update it could have been as there was no patch over the last 1-2 weeks. Or is the whole thing even random somehow?
1-2 weeks ago playing with 96 min day my Zoi was able to eat like 2-3 times with an empty hunger gauge from the same dish and refill it completely. Now I just did the test: with empty hunge gauge eating one egg omelet takes 30 minutes and the hunger gauge is full after 25 minutes, so nearly fitting. But eating one Banana cue fills the gauge only at about 60% but anyway takes 30 minutes. Why? Is it considered a smaller dish? But then would make sense that eating also takes only half of the time.
But as @Samuriko stated the bathroom gauge is still only filling to around 50% if nearly empty before. So you need to do it twice which does not make any sense.
Hi everyone (@here),
This known issue has been resolved in the latest update (see Patch Notes).
- Fixed an issue where changing the Day Length option caused need gain or decay values to behave abnormally
If you’re still experiencing this problem after updating, please let us know in a new thread.
