Animation length after 0.4.3 upd in 96 mins has doubled

Dear devs, the latest update says that interactions with food and drinks had been fixed so they wouldn’t last longer than 30 minutes. I’m playing for 96 minutes, and this interaction has doubled in length! That’s why this topic is here, not on the wishlist. While it may have been shortened for 48 minutes game mode (I rly don’t know), it completely broke by 96. Was this intended, am I missing something? I timed it, and Zoi eats for exactly 30 game minutes and drinks for 10 game minutes, which is twice longer than before. Naturally, the toilet drops instantly. Previously, I only saw hungry Zois, but now they also really want to go to the toilet. And we (my family) try to survive with donuts, because we’re like a ducks))
Also, the WooHoo animation in bed is broken. It lasts three times longer after the Halloween update. The animation itself goes by quickly, and then Zois lie in bed for a loooooong time, doing nothing. Has anyone else noticed all that? Are these a bugs?
Thank you! :pink_heart:

It feels like a bug resulting of “fixing it” for the 48min day option.
And yes, the woohoo is definitely borked. Also if you cancel it or someone/something cancels it before it is over, you dont have to run the pregnancy test, and you have to woohoo again and let it complete to have a chance at a baby.
The length of basic things like drinking a glass of water is way too long now, also a single glass of water filled my hunger bar in the morning. Definitely made it worse for all other day length… urrgh.

Yep, that’s right, if you cancel the animation, it doesn’t count)))) I really hope this will be fixed :smiling_face_with_tear: :smiling_face_with_tear: :smiling_face_with_tear:
96 mins game option is still an option, but now it’s so hard to play :smiling_face_with_tear:

Whether 48 mins or 96 mins, the needs duration is completely off compared to pre V0.3.

  • Most of the time in play is taken by managing needs of zois, who prefer to die instead of autonomously fulfilling their needs.
  • It now takes comparatively longer to eat, drink, use the toilet, and I suspect the bathtub too, than it did earlier. This is especially noticeable in the 48 mins game play as very little time is left in the day for other activities.
  • The needs deplete faster as well, so as said above, a significant percentage of the day is spent in fulfilling needs.

I wish we go back to 96 mins as the default with the needs system as earlier.

Energy is particularly annoying now. But I’ve noticed everything is off as well.

Yes, definitely a bug at this point. I thought I was going crazy too, until I saw all of you post your own experiences. The duration for animations definitely has been increased to be longer, because I usually can do a lot more things in one day compared to now I can only do less things due to the duration of the animations.

This discussion about the day length is going on for two months now and I fear at the end of the day, the 48 hour day length will be the only option.

They will just claim it will be ‘too hard’ to cater to all of the 4 day lenghts, by making it overly complicated. (How hard can it really be to change the duration of an animation in the code? They just have to change numbers.)

And despite of what the majority wants, then there will be an:

Thank you everyone for all of your wonderful opinions. As I have found that most of you are in agreement with our proposed fix, we will proceed as planned!

The current time for eating and drinking water is too long, which also leads to a rapid increase in the demand for going to the toilet. This problem becomes particularly obvious when setting the length of the day longer, which has affected normal play

It’s super annoying for the 4hrs day length.
Also drinking a single glass of water in the morning (which takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R now SMH) is enough to completely fill the hunger bar… weird.

Really feels like one step forward, 2 steps backwards.
SOoooooo Annoying !

i’m surprised they are struggling with this so much. animations should have their own length and play independent of game time. for needs you add a modifier in the formula that handles the day length selected. 48m, 96, 4h, 24h should all automatically scale needs. you can even look up examples of such a thing, its not uncommon at all in games. they must have really hard-coded 96m at first and are doing some wonkiness with changing it to 48m rather than trying to fix the entire scaling issue

Looks like everyone is having the same issue with the eating and drinking animations when using the 96min day length. Please fix this as soon as possible!

I’ve always been used to playing with the day length set to 4 hours. I can confirm that update 0.4.3 has made the eating, food, and drinking animations incredibly long (with the 4-hour setting they’re practically endless). Even worse is the impact the update has had on the “bathroom” need, which now decreases so quickly that in public lots where food is consumed (example Cafe Mar) the Zois npc constantly need to use the bathroom and walk around holding it in. We’re definitely a minority, but for those of us who enjoy playing with a 4-hour day length, the experience with update 0.4.3 has become significantly worse and really needs to be rebalanced. Thanks in advance for the fix! :folded_hands:t2:

Hello everyone,
Thank you all for your passionate reports and feedback.

First, to address the issues raised by @Kitty — unfortunately, the current behavior is working as intended: in the 96-minute play setting, the eating motion takes 30 minutes, and the drinking motion takes 10 minutes to complete.

Edit. For reference, the eating duration was originally intended to be 30 minutes in v0.4.2, but due to a bug, it only took about 15 minutes in practice. In v0.4.3, this bug was fixed, so now it takes 30 minutes as originally planned. This means the change was not a sudden adjustment, but a restoration of the intended design.
We apologize for any misunderstanding that may have arisen due to insufficient details.

Additionally, we’re aware of the issue where the character stays in bed for an unusually long time after the “Make Love” motion, and we’re currently working on a fix.

Also, thank you to everyone @here for sharing your valuable thoughts.
Please make sure this thread doesn’t go off-topic or include too many different bug types.
For now, this thread should focus specifically on the issue of animation durations being too long in 96 minute play mode.

For other bugs, please create a separate thread, and for gameplay suggestions or feedback, kindly share them in the Wishlist section.

Thank you!

I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but… please bring back the bug. The one time (maybe a few more in the future, we’ll see) that I’ll accept a bug, we as a community prefer the previous duration. All you have to do is to revert it back to how it was and everyone will be happy, that’s it.

i see your edit and appreciate it.

that said - this is bananas. animation length should not be tied to the game time. each animation, for cooking or showering, should have its own length. its the -needs- that need to scale properly. even as of 0.4.3, my zoi can start eating a piece of pizza (at 4hs scale), but is going to take an hour. yet her needs fill up normally so i cancel the action. in fact if i’m quick enough, my zoi filled her hunger and i canceled the eating action and the piece of pizza was left fully uneaten to where i could put it into the fridge. there is no way this is correct behavior.

sorry if i seem short, i’m frustrated trying to relay what i feel is pretty basic things.

…okay, the ‘drunk’ comment is overly harsh but I fully agree with the sentiment. I tried out the eating / drinking animations in the game yesterday and they are ABSURDLY long, to the point where Zois’ Hunger bars get full up when the animations are only around 1/10 complete. @AR_Flora, please try this out for yourself in-game as I simply cannot believe it’s intended. It’s exasperating as a player because you have to constantly monitor your Zois to stop them from eating after they get full, and 1 single plate is enough for 5-10 meals, throwing out the balance completely. I’m not kidding when I say that I don’t even want to play any more until this is fixed.

I’ve tried playing since this was implemented, then came to the forums.
I saw that it was by design (and this is why ppl were up in arms against 48min becoming the default, because it affects all the other ones negatively).

Gave it another chance… And I’m in the same boat as you.
Losing my will to play. It’s so bad… :frowning:

The frustrating thing is that I haven’t seen one person request that eating time be made longer, even those using 48min - only the opposite. It doesn’t even make sense from a realism perspective - who the heck takes 30 minutes to eat a bowl of cereal and 10 minutes to drink a glass of water? And it’s so fundamental to gameplay that it really can’t be overlooked like some of the more minor bugs. Please fix, devs

I thought adding some screenshots might help to illustrate the problem: In the first picture, I made a plate of curry and rice, and set my Zoi’s hunger guage to empty using the Hunger Drain donut. You’ll see the time is 8.15am:

I then immediately had her start eating the food. Eight minutes later, by 8.23, her hunger bar is already full - while the eating animation isn’t even 1/4 complete.

This is all on a 96-minute day. so I can’t imagine how much worse it gets for an even longer day length. Even if the animation change was deliberate, there’s no way this was the intended effect in-game. It must just not have been tested properly for options other than the default 48min.
