Kjun posts. Why don't you publish them here?

Why aren’t Kjun’s posts published on this forum? This is an official forum. Not everyone likes discord, but interesting issues are discussed there. I want to discuss everything that Kjun writes about here and not somewhere else. Please give us this opportunity!

I think we already have this opportunity, we just don’t use it.
We could create a topic we want to discuss in the Wishlist or in the Q&A along with a short Quote from Kjuns post on discord and a link.

The Team even encourages us to (see below).
I even think it’s better to discuss this here so there could be a thread for each topic and not just a hot mess like on discord :psycat_paw:

I’m talking about something a little different. I know we can create the theme ourselves. But I want Kjun’s post to be officially published here so we can discuss it. This way we will feel a connection with the developer, just like in discord.

After I’ve seen the interview with Kjun where he praises their extensive use of AI, I think it’s more convenient for them to collect the data all in one place by the AI .

That might also be the reason why they stop the discussion on the older threads, they probably run the AI over our answers before Wednesday, Kjun adds his thoughts and after that it’s done for them and they prepare for next Friday’s post.

I already had the hunch because the Wednesday posts often sound like the AI summary of the amazon reviews ^^’

Thanks for the link to that video. To me, it is frankly discouraging.

Using an app to collect and summarize user feedback is fine if it actually works. Using a tool which is widely known to make countless errors and “hallucinations” and depending on that is a recipe for disaster.

I’ve seen many bureaucratic fads come and go (remember the Dashboard craze?) and ultimately this current so-called AI fad will collapse too. Generative tools may have their place where errors are not as critical, where creating something that is “good enough” is OK, but betting the management of a company on them is sheer folly.

I’m glad I’m not the only one complaining about this. This is their own forum and letters should be officially copied over here at the very least. It shouldn’t be on us to hunt down correspondence and then post it ourselves.

I completely agree!
I would really like all discussions to be prioritized here on the official forum.
Until very recently, I didn’t even have a Discord account. I created one only because of InZoi (before this official forum was created), and honestly I didn’t like Discord at all (it seems messy to me).
For sure, I prefer to discuss issues here (despite there still being flaws regarding automatic translation, but at least there is some).

Discord is nice for non-official stuff, like I use it with some ppl when working on RPG Maker MZ for questions and guidance. It’s great because it’s in real time. But now that we have this forum, I agree there should be a dedicated Kjun thread that we could put feedback in.

I’d even go as far as NOT broadcasting that we have a thread here when we do, so we can limit the spam and better get our ideas across. Yes, it’s selfish, but they have their discord, let us have our forum

As for translation, google translate appears to be doing a good job with your Portuguese

They can have their Discord, fair enough, but we should still be getting official updates here as well

I consider it would be even more important to publish all kinds of information here, since it is the official game forum. I really don’t understand why they still prioritize Discord. They should encourage players to give their feedback and opinions here.

Definitions:

forum :
a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

discord:
disagreement between people.

Dear Devs, which one would you prefer?

In complete agreement. I despise discord for a number of reasons, the developer should not be using it as the primary platform because they cannot dictate the ToS, Discord does and their ToS is scummy.

Adding my +1, we have been saying this for some time. Completely agree with everything being said on here.

In my experience, this is how it is in RL too, which is why I am not on Discord and would rather post my feedback here.

Also fully agree to all of this. I was actually hoping that the devs would pay rather more attention to their own forum as here you have an organized and meaningfull discussion on certain topics and not to discord where you mainly have a lot of buzz but not really a discussion about the issues, questions or features of the game.

Today or next time during brainstorming “prime time”, my colleague and I will definitely provide several pieces of feedback on why the forum is not being used as a proper place for Kjun’s responses and for collecting wishlists, especially in light of the harsh and unethical personal quarrels I’ve encountered on Discord recently, which absolutely diminish readability and more often lead to the need to rely on AI summaries instead of carefully reading through the feedback.

discord:

disagreement between people.

Yeah, it’s ok to disagree, but turning it into a personal attack is unacceptable. No wonder this happened sooner or later.

I know that uncomfortable moments have arisen here as well, but usually it’s just ignoring when in fact there’s no desire to show support. And over there, they’re unwilling to engage properly… well…

I think that’s maybe the reason why our feedback is harder to collect here.
On discord, they just have to run the AI over the current thread, but here at the forum everything is all over several threads and over several weeks/months, so it’s hard/impossible to create an overview/summary about the latest feedback and respond to it.

EDIT: And even if we created a thread for feedback here every week to discuss the latest discord topic, it might be not worth the effort for them. Here are like 10 players discussing and over on discord hundreds.

Then yes, but in that case the maximum reach will still be through polls in the game lobby. I think they could even somehow connect it to Discord, make an auto‑post, or else just make everything there as mechanical as possible (i.e. under AI, since upvotes probably don’t decide anything, there’s no point in putting them up) and settle the rest of the mechanisms. If the forum is not valid and polls in the game lobby are not planned (similar polls/surveys were held before, with 700–1200 participants), announce this publicly.

But with polls there would be a fixed outcome which makes it hard for them to push features like the 48 minute day through that the majority didn’t want, for example.
And like I already said, this might happen with the canvas towns too. They will claim the majority liked them so much so there’s no need for bigger towns.
The discord AI summary is convenient to steer our opinions since it’s impossible for us players to get an overview over all these hundreds of posts.
The canvas towns make me feel like a dog who gets a tasty treat just to find out there’s a bitter pill hidden inside :service_dog:

Well yeah, gotta think about it. But in all the surveys I took part in for Sims 4, they required such detailed feedback that by halfway through I was already tired of answering  There were sliders from “poor” to “excellent,” picking a favorite animation, distributing (about) 10 points across different fields, manual text input… even questions like why you stopped playing the game. It was quite creative. I remember when they released Adventure Awaits, some people published polls on X where players actually voted for a kids’ camp and customizable vacations. But yes, in the situation you described, it’s rather ambiguous.

Yes, I remember these surveys ^^’
But the results never got published (?)
And Electronic Arts didn’t learn from them either
