Feedback: Integrating Nexus Mods into the inZOI Mod Workshop

Dear inZOI Development Team,

I would like to suggest an additional improvement to the in-game Mod Workshop:
native integration of Nexus Mods as an optional external mod source.

Many players already use Nexus Mods as their primary modding platform. Integrating it directly into the inZOI Mod Workshop would significantly improve accessibility, safety, and mod discovery.

Suggested features:

  • Optional Nexus Mods integration inside the Mod Workshop

  • Additional login option for players who already own a Nexus Mods account

  • Secure account linking (opt-in only)

  • Browse, download, update, and manage Nexus Mods directly in-game

  • Clear separation between official Workshop mods and external Nexus Mods (labels/tabs)

Benefits:

  • Lower barrier for experienced mod users

  • Stronger modding ecosystem and faster content growth

  • Centralized mod management for players

  • Reduced manual installation errors

  • Increased longevity and replay value of the game

This integration would not replace the existing Mod Workshop, but expand it, giving players freedom of choice while keeping everything organized and safe.

Thank you for considering this idea.
Modding is one of the strongest pillars of long-term player engagement, and this step could make inZOI a leading platform for creative modding.

Kind regards
A passionate player

Sadly I’m not sure how this could possibly work with copyright and whatnot. E.g., I’m sure that the Nexus would like to serve their own ads, by having that stuff viewed on their site, instead of hijacked by another site. I mean, they do have hosting costs. Just hijacking their content is in fact probably the polar opposite of legal.

Plus, being based IIRC in the UK, they are subject to stuff like the UK age verification law. Having that bypassed via another site’s “alternate login” would open them up to a world of legal trouble.

Plus, let me tell you this as an actual Nexus (and Steam, and MTS, etc) modder, albeit for other games (yes, I’m the same Moraelin): Some modders there feel very strongly about where their stuff can be downloaded from. E.g., some explicitly want it only on the Nexus. Or just on whatever sites they personally uploaded it to. Or, say, excluding certain sites like, say, Lovers Lab. Bypassing that would directly violate the copyright of the individual modders. Which does include the right to decide what sites can it be on. No different from, say, a movie producer deciding it can only be on Disney+, but not on Netflix. Even if the Nexus were amenable to an agreement, they legally can’t just decide to give their modders’ copyright away, because it’s not theirs to give in the first place.

Now me, I always released my stuff into the public domain, but I can’t in good conscience approve of violating the copyright of those who do care about it.

Long story short, I can see your point of view, but as a legal can of worms it’s up there with Robin Hood :stuck_out_tongue:

(Standard disclaimer: this is not legal advice.)

I’d love to have nexus mods in the game, I personally don’t like curseforge, nor the way the game manages mods, 70% of the time mods are outdated or crash your game. Unsubscribing or removing mods is basically a headache, there’s no load order, etc. there’s no reviews, no real previews (videos etc), nor any version management.

Nexus does modding right. With a click of a button you get the latest versions, you can adjust load order, the UI is not ugly like curseforge’s implementation, allows for adult mods (most InZoi players if not all are adults), you can easily download, activate, disable, change version etc with nexus.

Curseforge? It’s a joke, I’m sorry.

I’d even just settle with an ingame browser that opens nexus page just like canvas and the download with vortex to open the App on the background.

For now I rarely use curseforge at all and only manage my mods with vortex (nexus).

Also, the game is in desperate need of a crash handling tool to avoid crashes to desktop when you install a mod. Run a test with the mod on the background, if it passes the test then install it, else, disable it and warn the user. Crashes just because of clicking a button is never good.

i think this wont be possible cuz nexus has the 18+ mods
