Walking bug

  • Game Version:

  • Platform: (Steam windows / Steam Mac / Mac)

  • Mods: (Choose one: never used / removed / active)
:round_pushpin:If you have used mods before, please list them: Realistic Aging, Increased Skill XP

  • Hardware Specifications & Operating System (OS version, CPU, GPU, RAM, storage…): NVIDIA GeForce 4070 Super, Ryzen 7 7700, 16gb ram

  • Steps to Reproduce: Wait for a zoi to do a action

Whenever a zoi does the same interaction my zoi does, my zoi stops and walks to a random spot and I have to issue the prompt I gave before he walked to the random spot. This happens when at business or at home. This issue happens with or without mods. Below is a video of the bug. (Annoying)

Did you already try to verify your files via Steam? In case you haven’t done this before, here’s a guide: How to verify your game viles via steam

Happens a lot to me as well.

Looks like the game detects a collision and moves the zoi away, but forgets to re-issue the previous action it cancelled.

@Samuriko Did you verify your game files via Steam? If so did it fix it?

I did not. It started in one of the more recent patches.
It seems to be a genuine issue with coding and not with faulty files.
I might do it at one time, but it mostly only happens in high population households and in places like kitchens or tight quarters like a small room with a chair and a synthesizer and not enough room for zois to move around.

The same thing happen when when a couple wants to do an action together (kiss, declare next level of relationship, anything that needs them to be face to face), if there’s someone else in the way, one of the 2 will just walk off and cancel the action.

It’s everywhere and and I really don’t see this could be a damaged file issue.
It does not feel like one.

But if you want to do the troubleshooting of checking files, you can.
I just don’t think it’s going to do anything. But if you want to go through the motions, just do it and you can then claim you did and it changed nothing.

Have you tried deleting the webcache_4430 folder in your AppData yet? A lot of people are finding that clearing the cache fixes these weird visual glitches.

If your Zois have the ā€˜wander around’ action in their bar, it’s a very old annoyance I already noticed in my game back in August 2025 (I made a post about it → here)

And about a month ago, I also noticed they (even my played Zois of the same household) have a radius now where they act shocked/rude/annoyed when another Zoi walks (or drives) near/past them (my post about this is → here)

This is so annoying and frustrating -.-
It totally kills my immersion and how is this even anyhow realistic?
Even when we have our old town festival where I live, and the streets are so crowded you can barely move forward, no one ever does this.
Or when I stand in the kitchen and my daughter grabs sth sitting next to me, I don’t complain and ask her to leave the house.
No one ever does this.

Also these rude NPCs.
Who ever approaches a totaly random person they don’t even know to insult them?

I mostly play single-zoi households, but I have seen the ā€œwander aroundā€ action cancel out my queued actions many times, since launch. This happens when my character is at work in an active career, mostly.

Not sure if this is any worse after recent patches, but the proximity reaction @LennyOgg referred to is definitely a recent addition, and does need tweaking as it currently happens when played zois walk/drive past at a perfectly reasonable distance.

The ā€œwandering aroundā€ action used to make Zois move 2-3 meters since launch in March, but just like @Samuriko mentioned, one of the latest patches messed it up. Now Zois basically wander off to a different floor, into the garden or the opposite end of the house. I assume it changed with the v0.5.1 patch, can’t back it up though.

The more annoying part for me is that they don’t resume the action they cancelled.
The walking is a bit annoying but not critical, but I hate having actions disappear.
This gets worse with a huge household… You thought you had your zoi do ā€œXā€ but for some reason they got startled or something was in the way and they moved away, and never completed the ā€œXā€ action.

Hi @trainguygaming1045!

Since your post covers the same Zois Walking Randomly issue, I’ve merged it into the existing thread so all related information stays together. Thank you so much!

This is another issue, OP’s Zois won’t stop walking for no reason and it’s impossible to stop them and the merged thread was about Zois’ range that makes other zois run off.

Please leave each thread as it was so it can be better tracked and solved.

I think this only leads to more confusion among the devs.

Did, and I still have this issue.

Hi @Seiden I appreciate it.

Hello @trainguygaming1045 and @LennyOgg , Thank you for your comments. The threads were merged incorrectly, so the post will be unmerged and a new topic will be created accordingly. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for bringing this to our attention. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
