Firstly, I apologize if I’m not submitting this to the correct place; I read the instructions, but I’m still not quite clear on the difference between making suggestions via Wishlist vs Brainstorm with Kjun.
Secondly, please let me say thank you for painstakingly creating and working on this game for us, in addition to having such an easily accessible means of giving feedback, and for even taking the time to hear our questions, comments, and concerns.
I’m new to life simulation games as something about them, The Sims specifically, never appealed to me. Inzoi, however, feels different and I’m having the kind of fun people have always raved about in life sims. It’s clear to anyone that it has a great deal of potential and a clear intention toward success, but this one issue alone is single-handedly stifling my creativity and spoiling my gameplay experience, and I cannot be the only one. I can patiently wait for fixes on all the other issues, just not this one. I hence agree with this Brainstorm Topic “Fundamentals First,” being that the lack of true Door Assignment capability is a fundamental issue that is negatively impacting gameplay in a bigger way than the devs might realize.
I’ll confess to just joining this game after the December 23rd update, but the #1 thing I have desperately wanted, been wracking my brains to devise a workaround for, and which I see requested most often is some semblance of Room/Door Assignments. It’s clear that not having this freedom is wreaking havoc on gameplay fun for those of us who run Businesses and/or Households with more than 2 Zois in them (with Autonomy on), which I would allege is most. Running Households and Businesses are touted as two of the biggest draws to the game, and yet they both have disappointingly limited functionality because of this. It feels terribly backhanded to come to the game for those specific features and not even be able to enjoy them to their fullest because of this limitation. I’ve seen a multitude of different entries pleading for a resolution to this issue under the Wishlist and Bug Reports categories, however, I’ve seen little to no response from the dev team about it. It’s for that reason that I am now highlighting this point here in the hopes of this matter being properly acknowledged.
I played a practice run of the game just to get a feel before I execute my actual intention (which I will talk about in a minute), and the single most irritating thing I kept running into was my Zois farting around in every room but the one I wanted them to stay in. I gave Zois A, B, and C their own computers and bookshelves in the same room as their Assigned Bed, so why were they constantly using each other’s things? It’s a huge immersion-killer and frankly infuriating.
Now, my actual playthrough intention is to run an entertainment agency promoting a 5-member kpop boy group wherein they’re housed in a dormitory on a single floor of their work building. It won’t do to have the 5 of them indiscriminately invading each other’s rooms and bathrooms when each of their living spaces have the exact same amenities. Not having Assigned Doors will make the 5 members’ interactions a lot harder to coordinate, as trying to manage just 3 adult Zois with Autonomy in a single house was already like herding cats.
It’s also having an adverse affect on overall Business functionality. I can’t create a hierarchy of staff because the game only distinguishes “Owner,” “Employees,” and “Customers.” This is fine for small businesses, but what if I want to run a larger business (which I do)? What if I want to diversify my workers in specific locations to carry out various tasks (which I do)? What if I wanted to run a home shop with my non-employee family living on the upper floors? What if I wanted to make an apartment complex with multiple non-family and non-employee Zois all living on a single property? I can’t do any of that really fun, really cool stuff all because I can’t assign Doors/Rooms to specific Zois. And don’t get me started on having to watch Bathroom Needs like a hawk because 3 different Zois will all descend on the same bathroom in rapid succession, despite there being 2 other available bathrooms, but no one uses them bECAUSE I CAN’T ASSIGN BATHROOM DOORS ![]()
I understand that bug fixes, etc. are of a higher priority than QoL issues, but I argue that this particular matter should rank among higher priority. It’s a core issue that apparently didn’t used to be a problem, but now every single player is encountering in some way, and which is killing our immersion amidst all the other bugs and challenges. The only way to prevent these mishaps is to turn Autonomy off, which, again, kills immersion.
Finding and fixing Inzoi’s long list of issues understandably takes time, resources, and diligence on the devs part, and Inzoi has a long road to perfection in that way. We as the player base understand this, however, we do have a limited amount of patience for difficulties with simply playing the game. I’ve only been here for a month and my patience is already wearing thin, so I can’t imagine the level of frustration of the players who have stuck it out from the beginning. We want to help, but if the game isn’t fun/bearable to play while the devs take the time they need to fix issues, then players will inevitably abandon it. Resolving Door Permissions would alleviate a significant amount of frustration we have with playing the game, as well as drastically increase creative capabilities without having to construct any additional features.
Suggested Methodology
Though it’s still not ideal, for greater ease of implementation, I think that the Owner of a Business or Residence should still be the sole determiner of Door Assignments, but I think a mechanism similar to Group Actions should be implemented for the Assignments:
- When an Owner clicks on a Door, the options to “Knock” or “Assign Permissions” should come up.
- When clicking “Assign Permissions,” a window of all Zois known to the Owner should come up.
- Then, players should be allowed to select which specific Zois are permitted to pass through that door. The Owner should be able to be deselected in this window as it would not do to have them wandering into random rooms either.
- The standard options of “No One,” “Unlocked,” etc. should also remain available as well for overall easier selection.
***Also, Elevators should 100% have the same functionality as Doors in this regard; right now, they’re basically portals straight into any space with another Elevator in it. However, unless that Elevator is enclosed by a nearby Door with Assigned Permissions, it allows unbridled entry to a space by any Zoi who happens to amble up and use it.
This may not be as easy to implement, but it would also be good if each Resident or Employee Zoi could have bare minimum Door Permissions, specifically “Knock,” “Allow Owner Permissions,” and “Unlocked.” That way, any Zoi the player is controlling at a given time can at least manually allow other Zoi through the door if they so please. All they would need to do is click on the Door and “Allow Owner Permissions” again once the desired Zoi has entered the room.
I’m overall having a pretty good time with this game, but herding Zois away from occupied bathrooms and out of other Zois’ rooms isn’t my idea of fun, and nor is having to tell every single Zoi exactly what to do and when to do it with no Autonomy. I’ll probably focus on designing my business buildings for now, but I can’t really see myself playing in earnest until this Door Permissions issue is resolved.
