Game crashes back to desktop

  • Hardware Specifications & Operating System (Windows 11 Pro, 64-Bit, GeForce RTX 4060, 8 GB , 1TB, i7 Core 2.4 - 5.8 ghz gaming computer, 64 GB memory):

  • Issue Date: 1/29/2026

  • Error Message: None

  • Details: When trying to play the game, I select play game, then select the last saved game, the game crashes and goes back to the desktop, and the game still says game is still playing. I tried a different saved game, get the same issue. The game worked perfectly on Jan 24th.

I haven’t had that problem so far. But it has been very slow for me. Something has been happening to it. If not, report it as a bug. Although I think more people are experiencing it too.

I have the same problem. The game shuts down a few seconds after loading last save. I didn’t have this problem before.

  1. As soon as you get into game, make sure it’s paused - if not pause it asap.
  2. Then QUICKLY go to map mode and switch to another family.
  3. Unpause and let the game play for 30sec to a minute or 2 (usually 30sec is enough)
  4. If it does not crash, I recommend saving with another name with “Save As”, just back it up.
  5. Then switch back to your original family via the map mode.

Not sure this will work for you, but I had that issue in Cahaya after the 0.5.0 patch and I had to do this a couple times and eventually it stopped crashing.
Never understood why, but the above worked for me.

It works for a while, but after 20 minutes of playing, the same thing happens again. It’s a shame, but this only happens in the city of Cahaya. But thank you for your help!
