Please allow players to change any lot type in the game into a different type. If a lot is currently residential, it should be possible to convert it into something else instead of being locked to housing only.
Examples of Lot Conversions:
-
Residential → Office
-
Residential → Business or Retail
-
Residential → Entertainment (theater, club, gym, spa)
-
Residential → Restaurant or Café
-
Office → Mixed-use or another business type
Player-Controlled World Customization:
Players should have full control over how the city is laid out. If a player doesn’t want a specific lot to remain residential, they should be able to repurpose it to better fit their world, gameplay style, or storytelling needs.
Reusing Existing Buildings:
This would allow players to reuse buildings that already exist in the world instead of having unused or repetitive residential spaces. Offices, shops, and entertainment venues could naturally fill areas that make sense for them.
Supports Active Careers & Businesses:
Being able to change lot types would directly support active office jobs, business ownership, entertainment venues, and other systems by giving players the freedom to place them where they want.
No Forced Lot Restrictions:
Lot types should not be permanently locked. Players should be able to redesign and redefine neighborhoods over time as the city grows and changes.
Since the game already has many office buildings and office-based careers, I would love to see some of these jobs become active, in-world careers rather than fully rabbit-hole jobs. Zois could physically go to an office building to work instead of disappearing for the day.
Reusing Existing Office Careers:
Current office jobs (such as administrative, marketing, PR, tech, finance, etc.) could be reused and converted into active careers. This would build on systems that already exist instead of adding entirely new job types.
Daily Work Tasks:
While at work, Zois could be given simple daily tasks to complete, such as:
-
Working at a computer
-
Attending meetings
-
Talking with coworkers
-
Completing assigned objectives
-
Taking lunch breaks
Tasks don’t need to be complex, just enough to make the workday feel interactive and intentional.
Assigned Coworkers & Positions:
NPC Zois could be assigned specific roles within the office, such as manager, coworker, assistant, or intern. These NPCs would regularly appear at the workplace, helping the office feel like a real environment with consistent people.
Social & Career Progression:
Working in an office should allow Zois to build relationships with coworkers, form friendships or rivalries, and progress in their career based on performance and consistency.
Life-Like Career Experience:
Having active office jobs would make careers feel more connected to the world, encourage daily routines, and give players a reason to visit and interact with office spaces already present in the city.
