Details: How are we supposed to uninstall Mods and get rid of all fragments?
When I first bought inZOI I was on my old AMD pc with MSI 1050 TI graphics and the game did work on low with very bad graphics, so I had my PC Tech build this new up to date Gaming PC for $2000 but it’s current value is $3000, my PC Tech is very experienced and he always knows what’s new and what’s coming out soon, and what hardware works best with each other and how to fully optimize entire builds to preform what they are designed to do and how to.
Anyway back to my situation, just trying to explain everything clearly, so when I first started playing inZOI, I downloaded some Mods from the inZOI lobby (thinking these must be included with inZOI and will always work throughout updates), well one hair by Heeman never showed up in my game, then I got my new PC and copied my Mods into the folder but that didn’t work and the in game lobby let me download them again, after a couple updates, I noticed the list of Mods got extremely long, it’s showing the handful of Mods that I downloaded with their photo icons, and it’s showing a lot more Mods with no photo icons with number codes instead of names of the Mods.
Is there any info on how to get rid of all of them, do I just delete the Mods folder and the ModSave folder or is there more in AppData or in Program Files (x86) or anywhere else?
Thank you for sharing your issue. We’ve moved your post from Technical Help to Q&A, as it concerns uninstalling mods and managing game files rather than system or performance problems. This will make it easier for the community to provide relevant solutions and keep the forum organized.
I’d start by doing a backup of C:\Users\XXXXXX\Documents\inZOI\Mods (Copy mods folder to the desktop)
Then erase anything in the folder at the specified path and try starting the game again.
I’m not aware of any other mods folder, unless you did other manual install in other folders somehow.
The reason I want to delete all of them is, I haven’t been using any because I’m trying to avoid any more bugs and glitches and when I continue saved games it keeps popping up that some Mods are not working or something, and I stopped using any Mods way before most of these new saved games was even started, seems to be glitched
I have not attempted to delete any Mods yet, there are delete icons in the game list, I’m just trying to find out should I just click those, which seems they would remove them from showing up in the game but also feels like I’d still have unused files somewhere on my pc lol
You can try, worst case you’ll have to reinstall the game.
You could backup the entire InZoi folder (the one from “Documents”) just in cas if you wanna do that.
Alright, thanks for your help, I already know that I’m going to have my PC Tech to remove them, and beings he knows nothing about inZOI, I’m trying to get any info that might help
Save files in case or backup the entire InZoi folder as @Samuriko mentioned.
I have never used any mods in inzoi and I have any files in that folder too.
This is suspicious….
The best way is to do a clean reinstall. In case you want to replay previously saved games, you could backup the saved games first, do a clean reinstall, and copy over the backed up save games in the fresh installation. (More about this below)
If you don’t want to do that, assuming you have uninstalled all mods, you can try to cleanup the references to removed mods from existing saved games.
See my post about the ModSave folder
In case you want to reinstall the game, before a clean reinstall,
After restart, set NVidia Shader Cache high, say 40 GB or more (I have set it to 100 GB. Helps with UE5 games. See that you have enough space on C:)
Again Restart your pc. (Restart, not shutdown)
Then try a reinstall of the game.
Immediately after installation, make a backup of the above folders again under a parent folder called “ InZoi Clean Install” or whatever. This will be your reference for cleanup when the folders get filled with stuff from mods and Canvas.
I do not use any content from Canvas. If at all you do download from Canvas, keep the textures to the minimum.
Later you can copy over previously saved games from the backup, toDocuments\inZOI\SaveGames
Mind you, the games saved from previous versions may not always work well in a later game version.
It sounds like even though you stopped using the mods, they were in your system when you started the saved games.
I think there’s a high likelihood that you’ll need to start new save games after deleting the mod-related folders. Save games created before deleting all the mod-related folders might not restore the save games to a vanilla state.
I’m not saying this is definitely the case, but it’s what I suspect you will need to do.
