Black Screen when Entering Mods Page

Game Version: 20250701.5443.W

Mods: Active

Hardware Specifications & Operating System: PC

  • Radeon RX 6600

Issue Date: Current

Details: When I open the mods page from the main menu, I am met with the normal “library” background. A few moment later and the screen goes black. Usually from this point, it fades into the normal mods home page. However, it often just remains black and does not let me exit or proceed. This is majority of the time. I am able to get into the mods page, I think based on sheer luck each time, or it could be because I have attempted to repair the game, reinstall the game, and manually remove mods from the folders. Any combo of these MAY have allowed me access to the mods page, or maybe not. I am unsure as to which occasions I was able to get in. I think this is often to after I enter Character Studio, that this happens more frequently, but I could be mistaken. Please help!

I’m also having this issue

I am also seeing this same behavior since yesterday evening (23:00 UTC or so on 8/15). The mod site was extremely slow while browsing mods for a time. Since then, I’ve only been able to get the screen as shown in the screenshot that @megnew provided.

UPDATE: when I tried to enter the “mods” page today around 2pm EST, I was able to get in. I noticed too, everytime I have been able to get in, the mods I have downloaded are either “invalid” or need an update, so I always remove all & reinstall them. It also seems that maybe when this happens, i can only use mods in one session, then it usually breaks & black screens the next time I play.

Hi all!
We wanted to share that this behavior can sometimes occur due to network delay or instability when accessing the Mod Browser.
To rule this out, we recommend checking your network connection. If possible, try switching to a wired connection or restarting your router to see if that improves the situation.

We’re monitoring to see whether this solution helps overall, so if you give it a try, feel free to let us know if it works for you!

I use an ethernet as well as have wifi access. it may be spotty, im not sure. but i can use the internet just fine during these instances on a web browser, etc.

I have the same issue for like 1-2 months now. I have a stable wifi and even after reinstalling and removing all the mods the problem lasts. I contacted Inzoi support twice because of it. Please just fix it finally oh my coconut :sob:

I rebooted my local router and internet router and it did not have any consistent impact, although I am using a wifi connection internally. My LAN has very little traffic on it most of the time. I have a very stable and reliable internet connection. Also, I am located on the east cost of the US, if that has any bearing.

The 8/20 Update/DLC has changed things though, which leads me to be cautiously optimistic. The entry Mod page (the Discover tab) does not populate with mods, however, the drop down selectors and the other tabs (Browse, Installed, etc.) are now active, selectable, and appear to be fully populated. My installed mod list is not just disabled (per the update) but also marked as invalid. I suspect this may be due to me moving the mods folder in and out while troubleshooting. Updating the mods in the browser did not seem to work reliably and would stall out and not finish downloading.

I found that removing the Mods folder (~\Documents\InZOI\Mods) and letting the game generate a fresh one led to consistent results. I could then reliably update the invalid mod entries once I got into the browser, and consistently enable/disable the mods. The state of the mods also remained between going in and out of the browser as well as exiting and restarting InZOI.

I did notice, too, that it would mark certain mods as invalid after I was finally able to get through to the mods page. I usually just went thru and uninstalled or updated those ones. I’m curious if this is somehow correlated to the black screen?

  • Details (Providing reproduction steps helps us): I installed mods for the first time (via inZOI Mod button on the game start screen and Nexus Mods) the day before the Cahaya update. After Cahaya update and install, I received the notice that Mods were disabled. After enabling Mods, I went back to the game start screen to select inZOI Mod button. The game freezes on the inZOI Mod List - Discover tab (black screen - Discover tab doesn’t load at all) and then I receive an error message (posted entirely above). I have followed the steps from the Latest Service Notice from today (Delete the folder: AppData/Local/inZoi/webcache_4430; Removed Mod Files Temporarily; Cleared Shader Cache; Uninstalled/Reinstalled, etc.) No solutions. Please advise and/or assist.

Hi @keanunamaste, ince it’s on the same topic, I’ve merged your new report into this post. Please take a look here.

Hi @AR_Noah *** Thank you for merging! @AR_Owen I’ve now recently restarted my router and have superb network connection. Unfortunately for me, no solution.

I’ve also read through the post, and have tried mostly all troubleshooting suggestions mentioned here. In my case, once the mods were disabled after the Cahaya update, I have been unable to access inZOI Mod List at all beyond my screenshots. The game crashes afterwards. I had enabled mods again via Options on main menu as I could not access Installed Mods/My Mods tabs. Thankfully I was able to experience all features for the first time the day prior with no issues or lag, so I have an idea of what to expect.

The mod page has been black the last few days, so I can’t go into it and add or remove some of the stuff.. I know I had a problem with the game crashing on me, but the next day it stopped crashing, but then I had the problem with the mods page. Today is the first day I went on it since the update I was hoping the mod page was because of the update that was coming.., Off to see if I can play the game now..

I personally have not experienced the issue lately anymore after the update, even after several times opening the mods page. Only thing I am running into anymore is crashing sometimes during CAZ, with a pop up window saying I have an AMD Software GPU error.

I had the same problem today

I have the same problem here for 48h and I cant play :smiling_face_with_tear:

  • Details: the day before the update came out, I encountered an error: I go to modifications in the main menu of the game, and as a result I get a black screen and nothing loads.

I waited for half an hour and then nothing loaded. And then the game update “20250910.7320.W” came, I thought it would fix the problem, but there was no success. I think the problem is that the site is blocked in my country, but I go through a VPN to the Courseforge site, it goes without problems, but nothing loads in the game even with the VPN turned on. In the official discord, they recommended that I check the integrity of the files, but after that, nothing was fixed either.
