[04.10.26] Home more than 8 zoi

Dear Kjun

Please allow us to have more than 8 Zoi. You can achieve this by adding the option to the settings.

Settings gameplay ; The maximum number of zoi you can keep at home ; 4-8-16-24

And ; 100x100 - 50x50 - 75x75 plots of house land should come.

Taskbars should be updated according to these options. I found out that when done as a mod it doesn’t fit on the bar. Please don’t make us dependent on mods for this add it as an option.

@HeinziDerHeld @Samuriko @LennyOgg @JoyIsFunner @Taibak My friends probably agree with me.

I agree. Limiting the household to 8 zois feels too small for some gameplay stories players want to tell. Letting players choose (via a settings option) between 8 → 16 → 24 members per household would be much better IMHO. I understand that there needs to be a cap for gameplay stability reasons, but it should be adjustable in a specific range.

An idea to deal with the UI bar with the Zois’ portraits:
Let players choose the max household member cap in the settings (in a range like the one mentioned prior), then have the bar in live-mode adjust to that automatically by adding more 8-slot-bars to the left or right of the original one. The buttons above and below the zoi slots can be centered in their original places, so the layout still looks as sleek and simple as it currently does.

In my original idea, th max household limit was going from 2, to well, 32 or something.
The maximum could be 24, I don’t really mind but I hope it does not remain too low.

What I also suggested was 2 things.
#1- Being able to set the maximum household size precisely.
That would mean a slider, which is far superior than a set of fixed numbers (I already had to fix the new age group options with a mod, sigh). So just a regular slider going from 2 to 32 let’s say, or 24 as you guys seem to be wanting.

Why is that important ? Well, some people want to cap their household sizes lower than 8 to begin with. You can easily see all the complaining both on the forums and discord asking the devs to stop autonomous pregnancies of zois (I mean… I want them to reproduce, so how about you manage your beds?). Well now with the slider option, these guys can set population lower than 8, and we can set it all the way to 24 and be able to stop at 6, 9, 14, 17 or 24… Any number we want between the minimum of 2 and maximum of say, 24.

Any families that exceed the new size you put will not collapse and have their family member erased, they just wont be having any more kids, kinda like what happens now when your household is at 8.

And #2- A dynamic adjusting family bar to the right.
What that means is that you see the top of the bar (The house and the first 2 slots) and depending on settings, the bar increases in length up to whatever fits properly on the UI, I thought 16 was a good number. For sure there is definitely room for more than 8. So bar would auto-adjust to family size up to 16, then get an extra bar if needed.

So if you have a 2 family household, you see this ( PS I fixed the bar to pre-0.7.0 without the extra annoying stuff at the bottom and moved the house back down) :

And if you have 4 if looks like this :

And if you have 14, it looks like this :

Superposed on and old screenshot of mine, it clearly fits.
More than 16 would require that second bar to the left (or right) of this one, but up to 16 it fits well.
Obviously I removed the 3 new white memory tiles, which I want them to move out of anyways.
There’s even room to make those portrait a tad bigger (working with an old pre-cahaya UI screenshot )

I hope this happen one day.
I will be waiting

Thanks for reposting the idea guys !
PS: I Strongly suggest you post it on the Discord brainstorm which gets more exposure to the devs.
And we should comment on it and rate it up.

My good friend it could also be 32. I just wrote those numbers as an example. But an additional second bar may be required.

I would like 10 zois (this amount feels complete for a single large household imo), but sure 32-99 could be fun :slightly_smiling_face:

Okay how do we check 99 zoi?

We can probably install them in all the houses. We can buy not just one house but multiple houses. Maybe then it will be possible. Oh other fresh ideas are coming to my mind too.

I tested 14 thanks to an unpublished mod.
It works super well, except the UI bar. I have 2 very large NPC families in Dowon right now who are 11 and 13 members respectively.

My largest household of 14 was easy to manage and fun to play.
The main challenge was to house them all (with beds). I managed to do it using a 14 bed spaces version of my 1011 house in Bliss Bay.

Definitely feasible and the larger size does force you to be creative a bit.
24-32 would require even more planning and larger home. Maybe a 3rd floor on my 2 floor house.

But point is : 14 worked very well with no issues other than the bar which was locked at 8.

If you can share the mod link i can try it too. 100x100 - 50x50 - 75x75 plots of house land should come.

I tried to and you didnt bite.
I even poked you in private on discord.

The mod isnt published because of the UI bar not working well after 8.
Poke me on discord and I will share.

I’m sorry friend can’t log in due to discord connection problems. I will try again now.

Edit ; Thanks a lot for the mod my best friend it’s working perfectly. :innocent: @Samuriko

On 4-5 floors, you could easily and comfortably accommodate all residents, and there would still be space left over. You could set up some kind of “orphanage” with caregivers and foster children. It would be fun! :star_struck:

The number 8 somehow feels too obviously inspired by the Sims series. Although players there often complained that it wasn’t enough for them, especially when playing something unconventional. For example, an orphanage, like I already mentioned above. Or a “Find Your Love” style show for lots of participants. So yes, I’m completely for increasing the number of characters. Even just so that living in a family with two grandfathers and grandmothers, a couple could have more than two children without having to move the elderly to separate housing.

I made a post in this week’s brainstorm, feel free to rate it up and reply to it so that every ne of us mentions that we want it. Someone told me the amount of clear posts asking for something is better than one post with 100 likes. So reply saying tat you like the idea and you also wants household size slider.

Good luck to all of us !

Yes, yes, yes  Having more than 8 and 16–24 Zois per household would be fantastic. And loft beds, in case of space constraints. I completely agree and happy to support the suggestion.

EDIT: I can just imagine the drama in a multigenerational home with different families

Adding house plots with dimensions of 100x100, 50x50, and 75x75 would partially alleviate this drama.

You do not need to do that. There’s quite enough room already for 16 zoi builds on most lots… even if you have to go multi-floors.

However, right now the largest lot is 40x35. Looking at senyap in Cahaya, you could make that 40x70 (or 40x100, using that part of the lot that goes to the sea on that property… plus it would clear my view of it and allow me to get rid of that house and that huge tree. heh)

Having a “Mansion” lot or 3 in another future town so we could build large 3-floor Victorian homes sounds great though. 50x50 and 75x75 would fit the bill, though some houses would make your computer melt, especially when you press “I” to go into buildmode on them… But it would be interesting still.

I built a high-rise building on the Metro lot in Dowon (see Canvas) for 8 Zois. With some remodeling, there would be room for more Zois . Even though my computer sounds like a jet fighter taking off whenever I switch to build mode. As Samuriko already wrote, it would make your computer melt .

That’s why I suggested various limits which vary depending on the system. The maximum number of zoi you can keep at home ; 4-8-16-24. Gamers can apply any limit they want from the settings.
