Error Message:Black screen in place of main menu or steam authentication problem error
Hi,since last major update I have problem,InZoi gives Black screen that freeze in place of main menu(if using proton experimental,proton hotfix,proton 11(experimental)) or steam authentication problem error(if using any other proton). I know linux isn’t official supported,but still,before last april update I was able to play it without problems,but now it’s impossible.Even fresh reinstalling didn’t help
Hello,
I can confirm the issue on Linux, tested in September 2026 with:
Kubuntu 26.04.1, Wayland, Radeon AI PRO R9700, Steam and Proton 11.
Symptom: after the intro, inZOI remained on a black screen instead of displaying the main menu. The game wasn’t frozen though: CPU/GPU continued working, and pressing the U key revealed that the complete 3D scene of the menu was already rendered behind the black layer.
We tested without success Proton 10/11, waiting for shaders, -noraytracing, as well as a temporary modification of the intro video.
The solution that finally worked was very simple:
in
steamapps/compatdata/2456740/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/BlueClient/Saved/Config/Windows/GameUserSettings.ini
replace:
bSkipIntroVideo=False
with:
bSkipIntroVideo=True
After restoring the original video files and this single modification, the game starts normally up to the main menu under Proton 11.
In my case, the issue seemed to be related to the intro/interface initialization path, rather than 3D rendering itself.
I hope this saves others from spending hours searching on the Vulkan, VKD3D, or ray tracing side.
