Hello builders! I know many of you love building, but coincidentally (or not), you might struggle with making good roof combinations for your houses.
Great news: the latest update fixes a big issue we’ve had since the launch of inZOI. Now it’s possible to overlap roofs! (only if you don’t add walls on the floor where you plan to overlap).
To do this, remember to hold down the ALT key while overlapping.

Below are some ideas on how to combine roofs to bring completely new and refreshed architectural shapes to life! (Even if your skills only involve building giant shoeboxes to live in). I stacked several roofs and used one of them to simulate a “discreet,” though massive, solar panel.
Also, keep in mind that with ALT held down, you can rotate the roof 360 degrees if you want to invent something totally new (and move it off the grid). It’s not completely perfect (in terms of alignment, but if you’re patient you can get it right).
For this roof, I combined a platform structure to raise the roof on the left in relation to the one on the right, creating a sort of Mid-century look. What do you think?
Here’s another small example of a roof you could make. It’s not exactly pretty, but… I combined two platforms of different sizes to create it.
