@ZonaryQuasar you can check out here in my Media Production Guide: Media Production – Skill progression & money guide (post-December Update + updated after April patch)

They changed how this works for all the PC created work with the April patch. You can now publish your work and in the moment you do - it always shows you 1 Mew. Then after ca. 4 days you get your first royalties which can go up to 1000 depending on quality. And the week after you get another payment.

So it is not 1 Mew it is just not really self explanatory how it works now.

Well then even if this is intended, is still a bug to leave the text saying it worths from 40 to 1000 and don’t explain how it works.

I think what’s implied here is that you release your program, but the money doesn’t flow continuously into your wallet. The publisher handles sales, and periodically transfers a percentage of the sales to you. In other words, it’s an attempt to maintain realism. The text “from 40 to 1000” shows an approximate royalty, depending on the number of copies sold, which is determined by… well, I’m not exactly sure — randomly, or depending on some conditions: your mood while writing, skill level, day of the week, or something else — only the developers can say for sure what exactly it depends on. It’s similar to painting, for example.

So this isn’t an error.

Exactly as @Carnel pointed out you get the money over time in form of royalties.

@ZonaryQuasar But you are correct that the tooltip seems to not be updated correct. The values shown there 40 - 1000 actually really approximately reflect the old amounts of money you were able to get right after finishing and selling it, so before the publishing system was introduced with the April update.

I just checked my old notes which were part of my skill guide before I updated it recently. My selling observations back then were these:

  • Medium: 37 Mew (early Level video)
  • Good: 150 Mew (Level 5 example)
  • Medium: 100 Mew (Levels 7–10 examples)
  • Excellent: 300 Mew (Level 9/10)
  • Perfect: 1000 Mew (first seen at Level 8)

And that fits to the tooltip.

Now after the April update I have observed exactly these five recurring royalty amounts: 250 • 375 • 500 • 750 • 1,050 Mew per payout and published work. As there are also exactly five work quality levels, my strong assumption is that these amounts are reflecting the 5 quality levels.

And this is not reflected in the tooltip.

Exactly, you understood what I meant. Thank you for explaining so well!
