Hi @moonlit_mya,
Could you please check if cloud backup is enabled for your Documents folder path?
There may be cases where files cannot be deleted properly due to cloud backup settings (e.g., OneDrive), so we’d appreciate it if you could confirm this just to make sure.
Also, we hope this information may help you: Resolving Crash Issues After the Latest Update.
How do I check if it’s enabled?
Hi @moonlit_mya.
Here is the way on how to check if your cloud system, Onedrive is turned on
How to check if OneDrive cloud is enabled:
Look for the OneDrive cloud icon (white/blue) in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen.
If it’s there, right-click → Settings to confirm OneDrive is running and signed in.
Open File Explorer and check if you see “OneDrive – [Your Organization/Name]” in the left panel.
If you don’t see the icon, click Start → search “OneDrive” → open it to start the app and sign in.
Thank you.
Yes one drive is enabled
Hi @moonlit_mya,
If it is enabled, could you please try again after turning it off? The issue may be caused by an active cloud backup setting (e.g., OneDrive) that prevents file deletion.
I can’t seem to turn it off how do I do that?
Hi @moonlit_mya,
Here are some ways to turn off OneDrive. Choose one option and try the steps below.
Option 1: Pause or Stop Syncing (Temporary)
If you just want to stop OneDrive from syncing your files for now:
Click the OneDrive cloud icon in the taskbar (bottom-right corner).
Select the Settings gear → click Pause syncing.
Choose a duration (2 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours).
Use this if you just need to temporarily stop syncing — OneDrive won’t upload or download files during that time.
Option 2: Unlink OneDrive Account (Stops Syncing Permanently)
If you don’t want OneDrive to sync your PC anymore:
Right-click the OneDrive cloud icon in your taskbar.
Select Settings → go to the Account tab.
Click Unlink this PC.
Confirm by clicking Unlink account.
Your files will remain on your computer, but OneDrive will no longer back them up or sync updates.
Option 3: Turn Off OneDrive at Startup
To prevent OneDrive from launching every time you start Windows:
Right-click the taskbar → select Task Manager.
Go to the Startup tab.
Find Microsoft OneDrive in the list.
Right-click it → choose Disable.
This keeps OneDrive installed, but it won’t start automatically when you turn on your computer.
Option 4: Completely Disable or Uninstall OneDrive
If you don’t want to use it at all:
Press Windows + I → open Settings.
Go to Apps → Installed apps.
Find Microsoft OneDrive.
Click Uninstall.
This removes OneDrive completely. You can reinstall it later from the Microsoft Store if needed.
Thank you.
Thanks looks like everything is working now
Hi @moonlit_mya,
I’m glad to hear that the issue has been resolved. It seems the problem was caused by a temporary cloud issue. Therefore, we’ve removed the ‘mod not updating’ issue from the Known Issues list. If the same issue occurs again, please let us know in a new thread. Thank you for your patience and for bringing this to our attention!
