Steps to Reproduce: When I upload a building preset to Canvas, the author field is automatically assigned to someone else, even though my build doesn’t use any assets created by that person. What’s interesting is that I had previously installed a building preset by that same creator on the same lot, but in a different save file. This new building was created for a fresh save after the December update and is a modification of the original game preset.
Earlier in the year, I noticed a similar issue when uploading a custom clothing preset. Even clothing that didn’t use any custom assets from other creators would get assigned to someone else. That issue resolved itself once I deleted the downloaded clothing preset. However, deleting the building preset this time did not fix the problem.

The screenshot below shows a different creator’s name assigned to my build.
Had this happen a Loooooong long time ago (like May last year)
The devs never fixed my upload like I asked, but since the trouble never happened again I thought it was a fluke.
I also had tested a property by another author, before wiping it clean and building a new house.
Thankfully it was a very small house that took at most 2-3 hours.
Now I never test other creator’s stuff before building houses.
I will create a new game and build in the lot I want this house to be when I upload it.
What do you think about this, I created this zoi and uploaded her to canvas and it shows that I am the author of zoi, outfit, face, makeup, then when the Christmas update came I put a new outfit on her from the new in game clothing (nothing downloaded at all) and edited her hair and eyebrows, when uploaded the edited zoi to canvas it shows that that I am the author of zoi, style, face, makeup and Lovies is the author of the outfit. How is this even possible, how broken is inZOI or Canvas?
There’s a problem when using an old downloaded zoi although I changed the face and outfit when I uploaded the zoi to canvas it shows that I am the author of zoi, face, mameup and fireflyhorizon13 is author of the outfit, I’m assuming that Firefly has something linked to the body, Idk because if that was so wouldn’t it say that Firefly is the author of the zoi and not the outfit that I created lol
I just ran a few tests in CAZ and can confirm that the “original author” credit system is quite broken. My Zoi (randomly generated NPC) put on an outfit I downloaded from canvas. Then I removed every piece of clothing and made a different outfit entirely from scratch. As you can see in the screenshot below, the credit of Outfit Preset remains with ArchaonEverchosen (creator of the test preset from canvas), even though none of his creation is still on my Zoi.
Maybe the main reason for this bug / error is how the team has named the different categories. Zoi-Preset, Style-Preset, Face-Preset & Makeup-Preset can adjust to any changes very well. Outfit-Preset remains stuck all the time.
A workaround I found: If you use any kind of preset downloaded from Canvas, you can get rid of the author’s false credits when overwriting them by using a pre-installed inZOI team preset. As soon as you remove all the preset’s items, you are free to design your own outfit and the credit is yours then:
Nice find, that must be how my zoi has outfit from Lovies, I might have tried on some outfits b4 creating a new outfit, at which this needs to be fixed, because this is false credit going to other creators that have nothing to do with our craetions.
I’m so sorry for confusing you guys With “pre-installed outfit presets” I’m referring to the Outfit-Presets which were given to us by the inZOI team right away. The ones on the bottom of the outfit preset category. Simply something that came with the game and wasn’t downloaded via Canvas. I hope this is a better description
Thank you for the tip! I can confirm that this workaround solves the incorrect attribution issue for custom outfits.
As for the building uploads, I am stumped as to why this happened. I created the building in a new save file, modifying the original building that came with the game. The only thing I did that may have triggered this bug is trying a custom texture; however, that was from a different Canvas download from a different author, not the one credited in my upload. The author who is credited in my upload did not even include any custom textures, so it would have been impossible to try their texture to cause this attribution. Theirs was a building preset using only in-game assets.
I really wish devs would prioritize fixing this issue, because besides being unfair to attribute one’s labor to someone else, some authors don’t want their creations modified and reshared. How would I even begin to explain myself if an author who doesn’t want their work modified gets upset because a glitch in the system tells them I’ve disrespected their wishes?
It happened to me today too. I used a Zoi downloaded from Canvas as a model, but it was wearing an outfit by another creator, so when I created my own outfit the credits went to that creator.
