I think the way inZOI Canvas lets people upload and download creations is great. However, when I downloaded a piece of furniture, I could clearly see the asset data. I opened it just in case, and the original assets came out exactly as they were. Because of that, I think an update is needed to better protect creators’ rights.
Even this single 3D furniture item appears to be made by combining four separate assets. The problem is that all four of those assets are protected under their own licenses, and those licenses require attribution to the original creators, but the person who uploaded that furniture did not follow any of those requirements.
On the surface, it may look like people are just sharing in-game furniture items, but because of the file structure, it is effectively no different from sharing the assets themselves. When licensed assets are simply stitched together without meaningful changes to their form, with only the textures or colors altered, and then redistributed in that state, it can only be interpreted as asset redistribution.
If you actually open the joined asset data, it is basically no different from putting multiple assets onto one page and sharing them together. For that reason, I think stricter moderation and some kind of technical measure regarding the file format are necessary.
