I hope the promotion of the forums inside the game will bring more players around here, so with that in mind I want to propose adding two new "forum areas”, improvement in the “ignore/mute“ system and in the filtering of low quality posts in hopes to make the forums more welcoming and easier to navigate.
SURVEY AREA
A new area that allows only to post surveys or vote on them, both for official features and brainstorming and for the players to be able to ask and vote different subjects of their interests. I do not know if this is feasible, hopefully yes
SOCIAL AREA
A zone in the forums to share photos, videos and game related things that don’t really fit the Q&A category, so we can hang out around there and create community.
MUTING TOPICS, CATEGORIES, PEOPLE
Bettering the mute button in order to make it easier for us to be able to reach those postS we might be more helpful for and avoid toxicity in general, I believe the ability to mute a topic or a person for an amount of time, making their user, posts, and the topics completely invisible for the person that chooses these options

Yes to everything. It would be great if we could share screenshots and maybe even have a secton for stories. Lots of us enjoy making stories and sharing what is going on in our games from time to time, commenting on other peoples stories etc.
And the silencing system please 
I have someone silenced but I keep seeing their posts and titles, only that when I click on them it says “ignored content” but I still have to see the posts listed like no thanksss

I love the idea of a separate survey area, but it’ll only work if the devs are using the data. So far it feels like the forum doesn’t have much input.

I don’t think the devs will want to host too many images and videos on the forums. I think that is what discord is for - social hangout. The recent announcement on discord suggests that they are moving the technical help and game related QA to these forums, keeping the forums focused, and will leave the general chat and share media on discord.

I don’t like Discord at all.
Maybe it’s because I’m old, but the forum format is much more comfortable for me.
Sharing stories would be much more practical on the forum.
For example, one topic per family, and stories and photos could be added to that topic, so that anyone who wants to follow the family can do so organically.

I haven’t thought about it like that, but you’re probably right. As @mialuce66 said I guess I just don’t like Discord that much, so the thought of having a more social side of the forums seemed great!
You and me both! I would absolutely love that kind of thread around the forums, with pictures of gameplays and the evolution of families or stories

The main issue with Discord is that conversations go so fast, it can be hard to keep track of them. It’s very difficult to follow the thread of a conversation when people are constantly jumping in with different topics, and almost impossible to track discussions more than a few days old. I’d love to see more activity here on the forums, including surveys etc., and I think the devs are trying to direct more of the ‘wishlist’ topics here now.

I totally agree with all you wished for in the first post. I don’t know how I missed adding this earlier. I just wanted to say that the Devs would likely continue with discord as they would want to minimize managing large volume of media and chatter on a platform they own.
I don’t like Discord either. It is like a street market with everyone talking at the same time. I find it very difficult to follow and navigate around in that system. @Liessahl has described it very well. Anyway.
Yes, I hope we get a better system to vote, share and mute unwanted chatter!

Me too, and me neither! I will not be hanging out on Discord, there is far too much "noise” there for me.
I agree that we need a sub-forum here for just game chat and screen sharing.

I couldn’t have said it better! That is exactly how it feels, a bit overwhelming to be honest.
As for getting better systems in the forum, let’s hope! Seems like many changes have been listened to so hopefully we get lucky
