InZOI Won't Launch After Hotfix v0.7.2

I would like to add that I play on a windows gaming laptop and I’m experiencing crashing issues with the game as well. I’ve redownloaded the older version of inzoi to be able to play, otherwise my game will crash just from trying to enable the mods. I can’t create a new save or open an old one.

It is the same for me after HotFix V0.7.4 my game still only loads using the unplugged laptop option.

The game has been crashing at launch for a few days. I was able to play a little after March 26
I tried to delete the “.ini” files with no effect.

I just tested inZOI on a brand new Omen gaming laptop which we just received today.

• Game Version: v0.7.5
• Platform: Steam / Windows
• Mods: never used
• Hardware Specifications & Operating System Windows 11 Home / Intel Core Ultra 9-275HX / NVIDIA RTX 5090 / 64GB RAM / 2TB SSD

After downloading inZOI and starting it on Steam, the whole laptop froze for about 1 minute. I assume this had something to do with the first intro cutscene not working properly somehow. Then the game booted up without any issues. Loading into older save files from another rig worked flawlessly, just like starting a new game.
We launched the game for a second time and the intro cutscene issue was gone too. No issues detected.

→ The only noticeable crash or freeze issue we were able to witness must’ve been closely related to the intro cutscene with PsyCat and the elevator to AR company. Maybe that’s some kind of hint for future patches?

but that’s good to know it’s not impacting all high-end systems bc that HP Omen sounds pretty powerful w the 5090 GPU and other specs (it’s also another great laptop I was looking into before getting this G14)

it’s been almost two weeks of sending files back & forth, deleting files, and downloading a few hot fixes that haven’t changed anything for us. and we haven’t got a word back on anything within the past couple of days

AMD desktop user reporting in, since it seems like the majority (all?) of the reports here are coming from laptop users with Nvidia graphics. I would like to note that the game functions correctly with SmartZoi disabled. Enabling SmartZoi causes it to crash upon loading a save.

The fear I have is and I hate to say it but . . . every time they put out another hotfix that doesn’t work, is another update and another chance that, the workaround that we, the players have found to get into the game, will become broken and stop working. I hope this is not the case and they fix what they broke and we won’t have to worry about our workarounds. I will say, I won’t continue to invest in a game I can’t play on my computer, if I have to change everything on my computer to make a game play. I did that when I first started gaming and that is why I invest in higher end gaming rigs now, so I do not have to do it again. Anyways, that is just my 2 cents.

I tried downloading Inzoi on my handheld ROG XBOX Ally X, and it didnt crash and can play as usual, i can even load my saved games. So yeah only the higher end PCs are having this crash issues.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION:

I have finally managed to get into game without having to unplug the charger lead.

It sounds like I have found a fix for the issue where inZOI fails to launch unless you manipulate the power cable. This usually happens because the system incorrectly defaults to a low-power mode or integrated graphics, failing to provide the GPU with enough juice to start the game’s demanding processes, like shader compilation. [1, 2, 3]

By adjusting the Power management mode in the NVIDIA Control Panel, you are likely forcing the GPU to stay at its “3D clocks” (performance speeds) during launch, which bypasses the power-state glitch. [4, 5]

Recommended Settings for Stability

To ensure the game continues to start reliably without you having to mess with the physical power lead, check these specific settings:

• Power Management Mode: Set this to “Prefer maximum performance” specifically for the inZOI program profile rather than globally. This prevents your GPU from down-clocking during menus or static scenes, which can cause crashes.

• CUDA - GPUs: If you have a dual-GPU setup (like an integrated chip and a dedicated card), go to the inZOI profile and manually select your main dedicated GPU under CUDA - GPUs to ensure the game doesn’t try to start on the weaker one.

• Vertical Sync: Some users found that setting VSync to “Use the 3D application setting” fixed crashes, as “Fast” or other forced modes sometimes caused the game to fail at startup.

• Shader Cache Size: Set this to at least 10 GB (or 100 GB if you have the space). Large open-world games like inZOI need significant cache space to load assets smoothly without power-draw spikes. [4, 5, 6, 7, 8]

Additional Troubleshooting

If the power management tweak eventually stops working, these are the most common “next steps” for this specific error:

• Update Drivers: Use the NVIDIA App to ensure you have the latest Game Ready drivers, as they often include specific stability patches for new titles.

• Verify Game Files: Right-click inZOI in your Steam Library > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.

• Clear Shader Cache: If the game crashes during the “optimizing game files” screen, manually delete the NVIDIA DXCache folder located at %LocalAppData%\NVIDIA\DXCache. [2, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13]

I agree, I bought the PC only for inzoi and I had to work harder to get it!! and now i can’t enjoy it? it’s really frustrating i can’t play the game the in-game now looks different and not enjoyable and now we don’t even have updates

I really feel your pain @Sarsoi are you using a Nvidia RTX 5080 Graphics Card on a Desktop PC? I want to help if I can.

I’m using a Laptop RTX 5080 as you know until now unplugging the charger on laptops was the only way to get the game fully loaded so we could play. I have now managed to avoid having to do so.

Please try the following in your GPU Control Panel. This has made it possible for me to fully load as intended.

Control Panel, 3D Settings, Program: inZOI, Power Management set to Prefer maximum performance.

I also made sure that Image Scaling is set to On.

But the lower graphic is not the same anymore, even my zois looks different.. it feels like this isn’t my game anymore.. I’m slowly feeling like I don’t weant to play anymore and I was so excited for 2026.. but to be honest I’m not really anymore.. if it will aways look like this
